Occupy Oakland in flames: Cops use tear gas and protesters are run over on violent night..

Occupy Oakland protesters claimed victory after they shut down one of the nation's busiest shipping ports - escalating a movement whose tactics had largely been limited to marches, rallies and camps.

In a five-hour stand-off protesters vandalised businesses and smashed bank windows, as they tried to shut down the city - and police appeared to respond using tear gas and flash bang grenades.

The California demonstrators blocked operations at the city's port and stopped traffic on Wednesday in protests against economic inequality and police brutality, marred by scattered vandalism.

Police in riot gear arrested dozens of protesters who had marched through downtown to break into a vacant building, shattering windows, spraying graffiti and setting fires along the way.

‘We go from having a peaceful movement to now just chaos,’ protester Monique Agnew, 40, said.

Around 3,000 people converged on the Port of Oakland, the nation's fifth-busiest harbour, swarming the area and blocking exits and streets with illegally parked vehicles and chain-link fences.

Port officials said they had to cease maritime operations, citing concerns for workers' safety - but hope to resume operations on Thursday and that their workers can get to their jobs safely.

“I wonder if we’ll see similar accounts documented in U.S. newspapers.”

Of course not, comrade! Our state media fully supports our Soviet motherland! I detect counterrevolutionary tendencies in your remark. To the Gulag with you!/sarcasm;)

Anybody notice this is not spreading outside of Oakland?

Well, yet. But it implies that different occupy crowds are there for different reasons and come from different backgrounds.

This may be more a California thing than anything else. That state is going to go down hard.

People don’t realize this, but the EU is loosely fashioned on the US. That is, a bunch of “sovereign” states under an umbrella government/economy. That is why the US, before the civil war, was typically called “these” united states as opposed to THE US.

Remembering that allows one to see California as a “nation” kind of like Greece. And California has made some VERY poor decisions the last few decades. Chickens are coming home to roost and the rest of the “states” will eventually be asked to help out as the EU is being asked to help out Greece.

But California may find itself on it’s own, causing more of what we are seeing today. This continuous collapse cannot simply go on and on, year after year. Things will eventually come to a head - reach critical mass (CM). The question is, is the current explosion (Oakland) strong enough to cause CM. If not, the next one may be, or the next. But with each iteration, the size of the blast necessary to cause CM diminishes.

This will not end well, but hey, check out pictures of Hiroshima today. :-D

Obama’s base.

This phrase needs to be repeated OVER and OVER again.

If the GOP candidate...regardless of WHO it is...Cain...Perry...Romney...doesn't make this one of the issues with numerous adds...linking the administration's and democrat's support...with video clips in their own words...then I am done with them.

This kind of hooliganism doesn't play well for the majority of Americans...and these thugs will only get worse over time...not better.

Let's see...if the GOP is smart (I know), they:

* Link BHO/administrations words of support to the OWS crowd and then show American who these people really are;

* Link BHO/administrations words of support to the SEIU/Union Thugs and then show American who these people really are;

*Link BHO/administrations words of support to the "Arab Sring" and then show American who these people really are;

*Link BHO/administrations words of support to the "Lybian Revolution" and then show American who we supported with out treasury.

My son — a self-made man who owns his company — works in downtown Boston. His revulsion over the Occupy Boston crapbags nearly exceeds English’s ability to describe. He voted for The One in 2008. ‘Never again,’ as he says now (we’re Jewish).

I’ve said many times that if you want to see the US of 2012, just go to youtube and search watts king. But it won’t be one neighborhood. And the rioters will feel even more empowered.

‘We go from having a peaceful movement to now just chaos,’ protester Monique Agnew, 40, said.

How stupid can Monique be? Sooner or later her fellow Socialists/Marxist always bring out the violence.
I'm rather surprised it was peaceful this long.

There is NO way that there will ever be a fed bailout of Cal. They have to go down, and hard, on their own..the debt, and the pension and medical benefits, and to be cut by at least 50%..

Community Board Asks "Occupy Wall Street" Protesters To Clean Up, Quiet Down
NY-1 News ^ | Oct 20, 2011 | Michael Herzenberg

“This has been a nightmare,” said Brian Summers, who lives near Zuccotti Park.

Summers said those trying to force corporations to become better corporate citizens should learn to be better citizens themselves.

“It makes us feel horrible. We work down here, we live down here,” said Summers.

Drums are played each and every day. The noise registers as 117 on a decibel meter.

According to the federal government, regular exposure to 110 decibels can lead to permanent hearing loss.

From blocks away, it might not be physically harmful, but neighbors say it's damaging lives.

“We support the message, and a lot of residents do, but they also want to have a good night sleep,” said Manhattan City Councilmember Margaret Chin.

Local officials have been swamped with neighborhood complaints.

That's why they invited protesters to hear them firsthand at a Community Board 1 meeting Thursday.

Besides the noise problem, residents say protesters are pouring urine in the streets.

Our neighbors do not urinate and defecate in the street. These occupiers need to vacate our neighborhood,” said one resident.

I think Rep. Paul Ryan did point out to Obama creating a very divided American society a week or two ago.

Communism is alive and well in America and stronger than ever. Hollywood has been making sure people are programmed with such an ideology for many years. I mean, you will never see a movie about Lazar Kaganovich. What does one expect?

Here too. The county commissioners turned off their juice and now they’re freezing in the dark, and like the ants, marching two by two home.

Oakland weather forecast:

After several warm and dry days the weather will be changing across northern and central California as the first in a series of Pacific cold fronts moves onshore Thursday.

* * *

The main impact of this frontal passage is expected to be a return of cooler temperatures.

After several days of temperatures in the 70s... highs on Thursday will drop into the upper 50s and mid 60s with blustery west winds off the ocean.

I guess the appeasing mayor’s plan worked out really well. This is the city destroyed by liberal attitudes and it has devolved into the lord of the flies.

I want my country back
