Vanity: Much reaction to Men's Warehouse solidarity with Occupiers
facebook ^ | 11/3/11 | raccoonradio

Posted on 11/03/2011 11:36:14 AM PDT by raccoonradio

Check out the Facebook page for Men's Wearhouse, whose Oakland store closed for one day out of support for the Occupy Movement. From what I understand, the store was not looted but they may well have lost a lot of customers. Who shops at MW anyway, hippies or hard working capitalists? Join the fun.

Some of the responses:

>>I’m sorry that George Zimmer feels guilt at the wealth he has (rightfully) earned. But there is an easy solution for that. He can give his money away. All of it. Right now.
As for me, I do NOT feel guilty at what I have rightfully earned, and resent George Zimmer accusing me and others like me of some sort of moral failure, and am aghast that Zimmer aligns himself with people who are no better than unwashed barbarians, destroying property, and demanding that my money be taken from me by force.

Yea, I’ll never darken the doors of Men’s Warehouse ever again. I guarantee it.

I have been a regular Men’s Wearhouse customer in the past, but I assure you I will never again set foot inside the store of someone like George Zimmer, who aligns his company very publicly with hooligans of the likes of the “Occupy Oakland” thugs.

Mens Wearhouse is all about “Looking good.” The OWS protesters are still working on “Smell good”. Looking good is itself is a form of obligatory to these people, they don’t want to buy your suits, they want to do away with the need for them! Get a grip you fools.

Seems that you chose the wrong pony to ride, MW. Don’t you understand your customer base at all? Those mentally ill stoners aren’t the ones spending money in your store....now no one will. Justice. — 53%er.

more: >>This has to be the most bonehead business decision this year. --(moonbat) If republicans don't want to shop at men's wearhouse anymore, that's fine by me. i hate seeing them there anyways :D >>Richard Strand said: ‎"This was a decision made by the individual store's manangement, probably to ensure the safety of its employee's. " Thats not what they said. It was to show solidarity with the OWS thugs in the belief in socialism. -- Seriously? Thanks for showing your true colors so that I can now occupy your competition for my clothing needs.

"We closed our store near Oakland City Hall today, for one day, to express the company's concern for the issue of wealth disparity in our country. The issue affects our employees and customers across the political spectrum."

Get ready to close some more, for more than one day to show solidarity with wealth being spent somewhere else.

Thanks for the quote - after all the outrage I wanted to make sure that they didn’t close it down for other reasons - like safety, not subject their customers to the nearby protest, etc.

It’s his business, and he can do what he wants. I guess he figures he’ll sell more suits to the unwashed protesters than he will to folks out there interviewing and trying to get a job. What an idiot.

Zimmer's a kook.

Zimmer's style of corporate management (for example, the company's June 2004 nomination of spiritual guru Deepak Chopra to its board) is peculiar in the view of some, while others perceive his style as cutting-edge. Zimmer's experience caring for his mother, who died of cancer, led him to support research into the therapeutic use of MDMA,and for his efforts to legalize marijuana (for instance, by making donations equaling $70,500 to support California's Proposition 19 in 2010).

The Third Jesus is about the consciousness of Jesus which was in touch with the source of all creation. If you can aspire to be at one with that consciousness, then you too can be in touch with the source of all creation. The Third Jesus takes you on a journey of inner transformation, so you truly understand the meanings of the phrases like "the kingdom of heaven is within you," "my father's house has many mansions," "resist not evil," "my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Each of these phrases that are drawn from the sayings of Jesus actually can be a trigger for your own inner transformation, so you move from ordinary states of consciousness to what is called "god consciousness" and "cosmic consciousness."

see picture...
Broken glass is shown at a Men's Warehouse building in downtown Oakland, Calif., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 after a Occupy Wall Street protest earlier. Cleanup work is under way at Oakland's city hall plaza the morning after a massive anti-Wall Street protest turned violent and chaotic. Graffiti is covering a number of businesses in the immediate area around Frank Ogawa Plaza, where thousands had gathered for a mostly peaceful protest Wednesday. Some windows also are broken, and debris is littering the street.

There is a Mens Wearhouse adjacent to Zuccotti Park. Let’s see if they will follow suit (no pun intended) and do the same thing. They obviously sell to the Wall Street crowd given their location.

Gotta love the media. For that matter, Los Angeles was "mostly peaceful" after the Rodney King verdict too.

We could say the same about the riots of the ‘60s. There were only certain disburbances in certain neighborhoods of our major cities after Dr. King was shot. Only certain parts of Detroit were destroyed during the ‘67 riot there. Etc. etc. We can be selective if we want to spin things.

I have an honest question...sorry if I already missed the answer. Are the stores all owned by Zimmer, or are they franchises? I’d hate for one local store owner or manager (maybe even without Zimmer’s knowledge) to shut down because he’s a libtard, and then ALL the other stores get boycotted when they in fact don’t share the same viewpoint.

“Get ready to close some more, for more than one day to show solidarity with wealth being spent somewhere else.”

Agreed.

And hopefully it won’t be too soon that the owner is off the air with his commercials. He sounds like a smoker or an ex-smoker. His voice is worse than fingernails on the chalkboard or hearing Janeane Garofalo speak.

I mentioned before the small mexican restaurant in my hometown. They were closed several years ago on the day that all the illegals protested. Their business dropped off considerably and I think they closed - I guess they forgot that many people they inconvenienced had supported them in the past. Ungrateful ingrates.
