'Glee' scoop: Why next week's sex-themed episode, 'The First Time,' is a game-changer (teen gay sex)

The couples losing their virginity? Finn and Rachel and…Kurt and Blaine! Yep, the couple — who was featured on the cover of EW’s Gay Teens on TV issue – finally decide to take the next step in their relationship. It’s all handled very delicately and is incredibly moving. I can’t think of another network series that’s taken a teenage gay relationship so far or been so progressive.

Blech.
This is exactly why I don’t pay for TV. It’s all crap.

I switched to Korean dramas. They have some really good stories and pretty clean. And I’ve even learned some words.

I’m done with American TV.

They hinted at one for one episode, but it turned out to be not real and they put a stop to it. Needless to say, it looks like they’re gonna go all out on it these season; they’ve thrown in a Mary Kay Lourtneau storyline on top of everything else.

One of my friends pointed out that a lot of shows start out very benign and family friendly, but in subsequent seasons they push the envelope with gay characters, more sex, etc. She’s right. We enjoyed Warehouse 13, only to find out that it now has an openly gay character, and in fact, has gay writers/producers.

Hmm, another one I didnt know about. In Warehouse 13, does the show at least have the decency not to strcuture almost every important storyline around the openly gay character ? Does it try to look at the gay character from at least an impartial perspective instead of playing up, once again, the narrative of gays as persecuted, helpless victims of an evil, irratioanl Amerifcan culture ? If so, than perhaps it would be possible to get past it, provided the show didnt jump the shark and/or celebrate other kinds of immorality, i.e. betrayal, selfishness, deceit, general promiscuouty, assaults, nonstop.

Did you ever watch Gaki No Tsuaki? It’s the funniest thing you will ever see on tv. The Batsu games are hilarious. We don’t watch American tv.

I saw one episode of ‘Glee’. Most of the episode was harping on how some really over the top gay guy’s straight friend in high school was not totally comfortable with his gayness.

It sounds like I got off lightly, reading some of the other posts. The kind of brute force propagandizing that this show apparently does for homosexuality would be offensive for any agenda in a show that pretends to be for entertainment purposes.

Better than that they killed him off.

Well that works, though they didnt need to do that. I think it would’ve been ok to just make sure he wasnt the focal point of every storyline and they didnt waste time getting the viewer to see him as a martyr and had him keep his sex life entirely to himself and his partner(s) and not share it with anyone else. After all, in reality that’s what the majority of gays do; in the real world most gays have zero pride in homosexuality and many are trying very hard to at least be celebate and ideally change their orientation (and in turth they often fail repeatedly no matter how sincere their efforts are, hence why they need Spiritual aid). Which is why I believe in empathy for most gays-they’re not represented well at all by activists or by Hollywood. Just like with women, black Americans, and any other oppressed, repressed victimized group we have.

It is a very definite pattern of behavior in Hollywood that TV shows are initially created to try to get ratings, and once they have those ratings, they then use the highly-rated show to try to push all of their left-wing ideology, whether it be pro-homo, anti-Christian, anti-American or whatever. Eventually, their ideology becomes more important than the integrity of the show (such as it was) and the show crumbles.

I suspect it's more along the lines of "successful systems attract parasites."

While show creators are obviously pretty far left, with a bit of success they start getting attention from activist groups who ask them to push their ideology more and more.

It also doesn't help that the Diversity Industry now pushes LGBT favoritism. Take a look at the affirmative action section of the Screen Actors' Guild contract, or the diversity reports required for California film board tax breaks. Both SAG and CA rules give special rates for "diverse" productions.

The conventions of Soviet Realist art are laughably obvious to us. As soon as you start realizing Hollywood's ideological conventions, it gets boring pretty fast.

I’m right there with you. I would love to know the breakdown between men and women who watch this garbage. Same thing with the american idol type reality crappola.
