During an interview with CNN's John King on Thursday, the Texas governor said that expectations that U.S. authorities are going to arrest and deport up to 15 million undocumented immigrants isn't realistic.

Secret is that most of them still won’t get work visas. They will continue to do exactly as they do.

Until the people that employ the ones who are here to work, are made to pay all the financial burden of hiring illegals it will continue.

They hire them, their family gets on welfare and gets free medical treatment and food off the taxpayers. Employer wins.

Now why would they mess with a visa?

Laws on the books should be enforced, border protected, and all freebies denied. Anchor baby status should also be addressed.

You have to applaud suckup Perry for that convoluted pro-illegal statement-—as if the “witless wonder” could ever think up all of that by himself (/snix).

I mean, it’s just amazing how Perry can read wire tranfers from Mexico with a straight face. ROTFL.

It was recently reported that the majority of Texans DID NOT KNOW that Perry gave in-state tuition to illegals (and God knows what else). Because Perry’s goal is to make Mexico happy-—the heck with Texans.

Perry in power is downright frightening——he demonstrates his fervid contempt for voters at every turn. Perry’s disregard for the democratic process, and for our precious freedoms, is appalling.

All of his actions are self-serving-—to further himself at the expense of the republic.

God only knows what this “witless wonder” would do with presidential power.

Maybe not realistic but the feds need to behave as though it is realistic and just deport. Any other action,as we’ve seen, opens the door to everything and anything.

I support a limited guest worker program as part of immigration reform. Perry does not seem to be talking about a limited guest worker program. He is talking about large scale amnesty. A limited guest worker program would allow companies to apply for tightly controlled visas. The visas would not allow families to come here, not allow the guest worker to stay even if he/she has a child while working here, and forces the guest worker to return to the home country after the visa period expires (most should expire within a year for seasonal work). I anticipate that an expanded guest worker program would be at most 1,000,000. Applicants for the slots must reside in Mexico, not the US.

Enforcement of existing immigration laws and attrition through denial of government benefits will solve the problem of existing illegal aliens. Wide spread deportation will not be needed. Most will return home voluntarily or stay in the shadows. If they break laws or become active politically, they will be deported.

Perry is not an acceptable candidate given his position on immigration. He is a Bush clone on immigration.

“Visas are not given to illegal aliens, like Perry wants to do with the “work permits”

I’m over simplifying here, but if they apply for work permits, and are on record, they aren’t in the same sense an “illegal alien” any longer.

I also do think a real conversation needs to be had about this whole illegal alien problem.

For example, say you are at a emergency room and in comes a mother with a badly injured child. You overhear enough of her conversation at the desk to know that she is an illegal alien. Then you see the nurse shake her head and shrug her shoulders. Then a security person shows up and takes the woman and child out to the parking lot. No medical care was provided.

Some people would have no problem with that, but I think most of us - realistically - would want to see the child helped. Can you imagine if a law was passed tomorrow making it punishable to provide medical care to undocumented persons?

So to the problem of rounding up 20-40 million (since we all know it’s at least this many illegals), and sending them back where they came from. What would really be involved in that roundup? I can’t imagine, and I have a great imagination, how that can be done successfully - not in under at least a decade.

Really need to start with employers, sanctuary cities, landlords. And yes, welfare. Not to defend Perry, but he didn’t create the problem. His answer isn’t perfect, but it’s more logical than some of the other “solutions” I have heard.

I expect you all would like to chew my head off now. Have at. But reality is that chucking out 20 million people overnight and then building a huge wall in no time flat can not happen.

Anchor babies are a key problem that need to be addressed. If all freebies, including medical, were eliminated as well as anchor baby priveleges and jobs, and protection by local govts the 15 to 40 million illegals would mostly self deport. The remainder could be policed up in a couple of years.

I’m over simplifying here, but if they apply for work permits, and are on record, they aren’t in the same sense an “illegal alien” any longer.

Then they are granting amnesty.

"Amnesty: the act of an authority (as a government) by which pardon is granted to a large group of individuals"

If the government, by issuing work permits, pardons a groups prior illegal acts, than they, by definition, are granting amnesty.

You can't have it both ways.

If blanket work permits, with no expiration date, for the entire population of illegals were being suggested, you would be correct.

If it is on a person by person basis, and the permits have an expiration date, then they are not being granted amnesty. The permits do not make them automatically US citizens, nor quarantine a path to citizenship. It is an application to work, for a specified period of time, while paying US taxes.

Implant a fricken chip in ‘em, like they have for pets, when the permit is granted. That way they can be identified as aliens who have been approved to work here under permit. Make them pay a fee for the permit and chip. Hell, they pay those coyotes don’t they?

Or, we can build big internment camps, round them all up and put them in there, and arrange them to be shipped back to all of their home countries.

Exactly. Cut the freebies, enforce the laws.

And if the borders are secure, much of the problem goes away.

No. The act of pardoning a group of people for their prior illegal, criminal acts is, in and of itself, amnesty. If by applying for work permits means a group of people will not be made to answer for their prior illegal acts, they, by definition, are being granted amnesty.

No one who grew up poor on a cotton farm in west Texas is a globalist. No way. He is, however, a realist.

“No. The act of pardoning a group of people for their prior illegal, criminal acts is, in and of itself, amnesty.”

Soooooooo, don’t “pardon” them. Giving them a free pass is not being suggested. Causing them -individually- to apply and pay for a work permit. Pay US taxes. Assess a nice fine for illegal entry as well (if they were already residing here when they applied for permit) Anyone with more than a traffic ticket on their record gets shipped off.

Make a way for them to legally work here, and you make long strides toward taking down the “sanctuary cities”.
And no, not people from all lands - but only those that share a border with the US. The rest get shipped to their homelands, end of the ride for them.

Meanwhile build border walls where they will do the most good, and actually be effective, put more border guards on, and free them up to do their jobs properly.
And just imagine all the fun we will have with building big walls and the EPA? *shudder*

Or, you can round up all 20+ millions of them, put them in internment camps, eventually ship them back to all of their home countries, and build a huge border wall real fast.

I just gave you the biggest example of all

This economy is the worst we have witnessed for decades.

And you don’t think all the jobless legal Americans would not do the jobs illegals are doing now in Texas and across the country?

Perry’s finished

"You can put a program into place in which these individuals can be identified, and work visas in which they can move back and forth between their countries but not to become United States citizens," Perry said.

Oh, so America suddenly has the money and manpower to identify 20M illegals, grant them work visas, and ensure they come and go legally? Since when is it practical and logistically possible to do this, but not finish building 1900 miles of border fence?

Instead why not "put a program into place in which these individuals can be identitified" and then prevented from working in the US, receiving any social services, no public schools and certainly NOT in-state college tuition?

Combine that with cuffed perp walks and hefty fines on would-be employers and you begin a "NOT LEGAL = NOT WELCOME" self-deporation program.
