Yesterday, in discussing Senator Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer's continuation of the attempt to exploit "gunwalked" guns for more restrictive firearms regulation, we noted Feinstein's breathless hysteria regarding .50 caliber rifles:
And the problem is anybody can walk in and buy anything, .50 caliber weapons, a sniper weapons, buy them in large amounts, and send them down to Mexico.
As the Sipsey Street Irregulars' Mike Vanderboegh notes, .50 caliber rifles seem to be something of an obsession of hers:
There is one thing that is always fascinating to me about Feinstein. She can't mention gun control without mentioning fifty caliber rifles. I mean she is a monomaniac on the subject. It is obvious that the thought of a projectile which can be fired from a mile away that can penetrate her limousine's armor in some nominal green zone "safe envelope" is the stuff of her nightmares.
She has, in fact, introduced legislation to impose draconian restrictions on .50 caliber rifles and ammunition in the past (are we approaching "the time and place" for her to try again?). Nor is she alone among California's congressional delegation in her terror of these guns. Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA) has even specifically mentioned the "limousine-busting" capabilities of .50 caliber projectiles, in an MSNBC hysteria piece years ago:
This kind of weapon can blow up a limousine or a helicopter, can take out a vehicle, armored vehicle, maybe even a mile away. It can shoot through seven buildings!
He does not seem to have outgrown that fear, and still lists more oppressive regulation of .50 caliber guns as a priority on his "issues" (and he has "issues," alright) page:

Politicians should respect citizens, citizens are their bosses.
Never noting that what she's referring to starts at $2000 and prices move north of $5000 fast. AND she never notes that these things are about 5 feet long and weigh around 30 pounds (supplies not included).
No, she talks like it's $100 and fits in a pocket.

“And the problem is anybody can walk in and buy anything, .50 caliber weapons, a sniper weapons, buy them in large amounts, and send them down to Mexico.”
And the problem is anybody can earn money, a week’s pay, thousands of dollars, and send them to down to Mexico. Should we outlaw the dollar?
...oh, wait. I’ve got to stop giving the Marxists new ideas.
Along with the ignominious end of Khadaffi....
Ever since that Tea Party member shot-down a Chinese satellite with his .50, Diane’s panties have been in a twist.
The entire purpose of the 2nd is to help enforce the 1st by giving the government officals something to think about.
Only the ATF can send .50 cals to mexico without an export permit.
What is the caliber of Waxman’s nostrils?
You do not want an armed government and an unarmed populace. Then the government becomes the boss, and not the citizens. Our form of government is supposed to be one where the citizens are the boss.
Damn...I guess this means I have to go out and buy me a .50 caliber rifle.
And here I was thinking I was all set...
Her highness the pig need not worry. Arnie the RINO already outlawed the 50 cal in her home state. Birds of a feather and all.
And the problem is anybody can walk in and buy anything, .50 caliber weapons, a sniper weapons, buy them in large amounts, and send them down to Mexico.********
I would hope that by “anybody” she’s referring to the chief gunwalker at Justice and his enabler in the WH. Fortunately, Obama’s little under the radar scheme got blown up and Holder is now busy trying to obstruct.
It either takes an idiot or a super-sized set of stones to talk about running US firearms into Mexico after getting caught red handed doing that very thing.
Pathetic is the only term I can think of.
caliber of Waxman’s nostrils?
At least twenty times that of his tiny pocket derringer.
Try buying 'anything' in CA that isn't on an 'approved' list without a 10 day wait and background check.
She would REALLY hate my .54 caliber rifle.
interesting to note her first fear is what they could to do limousines
“Damn...I guess this means I have to go out and buy me a .50 caliber rifle.
And here I was thinking I was all set...”
LOL! Exactly. About half my gun purchases over the years have been “get in before the ban” urges. All lost in that damned boating accident, of course . . .
So don’t be riding in a Limo, Liberals.
The hoplophobes (actually, plebephobes-afraid of the people) are the best sales and marketing tool for the republic, whether they know it or not.
While the left (defined pragmatically as including much of the curent “right” as well) wants to see more and more “control” descend over the American people, they are actually making it much more unlikley for that to occur in fact.
Pass all the laws you want, enforce them if you can.
The great eventuality remains the Amercian people are the most well-armed society in history.
While in past history great nations fell under tyranny, that happened only after restriction registraion and consfication of the peoples arms-and only after THEY complied.
I do not see that happening in the USA.
It is just not in our collective blood to “slip quitely in the night”. We suck at being shepherded by the few, for the most part.
Shhsh. Don’t tell the leftists that their paranoia and fear of arms “for the peole’s own good” mentality is working (for freedom).
If they would get off the grandstand, quitely tone the anti-gun rhetoric down and let it go, they would be that much more successful-(apathy works) as they were in the 50’s 60s and 70s when a majoprity of Americans held that handgun bans were just fine-during the era of “conservative democratic” rule across the US and most state governments.
I say, lets make them rant. It sells Amercians on gun ownership as a virtue for the cause of freedom.
***When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.
“Mr and Mrs America, TURN THEM IN!”-Diane Feinstein.
Don’t do things that make people wanna shoot at you...
Barretts are hard to conceal under clothing. Other than that, I can’t think of anything wrong with having one.
Do the politicians explain the source of their fear? Did their fear only surface with the advent of .50 caliber rifles?
A government that fears arms in the hands of its people should also fear ROPE! - Nathan Bedford Forrest about 1845
Poor ole Feinstein. I can imagine the load in her panties if she learned about 20 mm Lahti and Solothurns.
While she’s overheating that pea sized brain with that Someone can clue her on the weaponry in National Guard armories.
Given the money drug cartels have at their disposal are RPGs out of reach?
Every liberal legislator should be required to take a 1 day weapons training course. 8:00AM to Noon handguns. 1:00PM to 4:00 PM assault rifles. 4:00PM to 4:30PM Barrett .50 cal practice.
Shhhhhh! They might find out the .416 Barrett round is better than the .50 cal.
Is she going to outlaw reacting groups that possess bronze and/or iron muzzle loading canons. They can put a big hole in a limo, gov buildings and etc.
If you can afford a Lahti, you can afford the $200 tax.
BTW: IIRC, RPGs are NFA legal w/$200 tax to BATFE too.
(Couple hundred bucks per bang is a bit much though.)
As is .408 CheyTac. The .338 Lapua is real close too.
Not at all...
Worse Than Gunwalker? State Dept. Allegedly Sold Guns to Zetas
Phil Jordan, a former CIA operative and one-time leader of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administrations El Paso Intelligence Center, claims that the Obama administration is running guns to the violent Zetas cartel through the direct commercial sale of military grade weapons:
Jordan, who served as director of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administrations El Paso Intelligence Center in 1995, said the Zetas have shipped large amounts of weapons purchased in the Dallas area through El Paso.
Theyve found anti-aircraft weapons and hand grenades from the Vietnam War era, Plumlee said. Other weapons found include grenade launchers, assault rifles, handguns and military gear including night-vision goggles and body armor.
If you have connections with the CIA and State Dept. you can get just about anything. Who knows maybe the cartels will start selling some of their surplus and send it north for us bitter clingers.
It might be worth it to stop trespassing. I need something with a bigger bang, A .30-06 doesn’t seem to impress them.
Maybe not "under clothing" but these looks pretty interesting;
Very nice. Now all I have to do is decide which of my kids I would sell to get one.
Oh yeah, the confused LEDs with IEDs.
Speaking of which, Mrs. Chandler and I just got back from the firing range where I put 50 rounds through my birthday present, a snub-nosed .38. Best. Lunch. Break. Ever.
I thought that was the plan...
I'm pretty sure those qualify as WMD's at that caliber.
I've found if you skip the clothing it alleviates that problem and no one notices the Barrett.
Now there's a visual I could've easily done with out !
