Herman Cain: "I Am The Koch Brothers' Brother From Another Mother"
The Los Angeles Times ^ | November 4, 2011, 11:36 a.m. | Kim Geiger

Posted on 11/04/2011 12:36:48 PM PDT by drewh

As he appeared on stage Friday before a gathering of conservative activists, Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain gave no indication that he was discouraged after a turbulent week marked by allegations that he had sexually harassed former employees. Cain opened his speech with an obvious jab at President Obama, and at rival Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who had delivered his own speech just moments before.

“Before I get started, I want to know, whose teleprompters are these? “ Cain said after taking the stage. “I don’t need ‘em. Maybe they’re for somebody else.”

Then he got philosophical, warning the audience against a life without dreams.

“The American dream has been hijacked,” he said. “But the good news is, we can take it back.”

Cain touted his business background and defended his 9-9-9 tax plan. He made no mention of the sexual harassment allegations.

But he did address another topic – his relationship to the billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch, who are credited with having founded Americans for Prosperity, the group that hosted the summit.

“I’m very proud to know the Koch brothers,” Cain said. “This may be a breaking news announcement for the media: I am the Koch brothers’ brother from another mother.”

David Koch, who was sitting in the front row of the packed ballroom at the Washington Convention Center, stood as the crowd burst into applause

Somebody needs to develop a short software program where a persons picture can be pasted onto a popscicle stick then inflated and turned red until it explodes.

Then, every time one of the lib politicians or talking heads goes Mathews about Cain we can post and puff.

That little voice is telling you he will need a strong foregn affairs VP. He’s rock solid on domestic affairs. I hope he picks John Bolton. He could announce it before the primaries? Maybe?

I don’t know. But I like him too and hope to be able to vote for him twice.

Wouldn't naming Cabinet names before the election be a mistake? First off, there would be more targets for the MSM & Dems (but, I repeat myself). Second, it would remove motivation from possibly thousands of people, who imagine that they might be in line for one of the jobs.

Cain will do just fine, because he knows that he doesn't know all the answers. We've survived Ford, Carter, Clinton, and almost 4 years of Obama...Cain will be outstanding by comparison.

We were discussing here the other day the idea that Cain should, shortly after he wins the nomination, announce his major cabinet appts..

Some thoughts were: Bolton SecState, Petraeus, Sec Def, Guiliani HomeLand Security, Palin, Energy

How about Conservatives try NOT voting for the GOP RINOS squad for once.

Hilarious!

On a serious note, I wish Cain would go after the dems harder...Something along the lines of:

“I have never been accused of raping someone like Bill Clinton, I have never been accused of sexual assault or filed for divorce like Al Gore, I do not have a love child with a mistress like Jesse Jackson and John Edwards, and there are no photos of me showing my Weiner like ..well...Weiner. I may have complimented women on being attractive and I may have used language that made someone feel uncomfortable and if someone was offended..well grow thicker skin. I will not apologize for being me. I am a conservative black man and for that I am a target for modern lynching by the democrat party and the media they control. They failed against Clarence Thomas and they will fail against me. I am proud to be happily married after all these years and I’m proud that I have never had to tell a woman to “put some ice on it” and have never has a woman lose her cat and have her tires slashed.”

That’s the great thing about someone like Caine. He is man enough to admit he needs help and doesn’t know it all, and isn’t beholden to the party who will have a big say in who he chooses.

Someone like him WILL pick smarts over politics every time because he has the background in business to understand that when you get to the top, its the people just below you with their sound advice and individual area of expertise that you rely on. Just like an officer relies on his experienced NCO’s to see to it their commands are carried out without having to micromanage things, a good CEO runs the corporation the same way.

You’re falling into the trap of comparing him to Obama since they both came/are coming to the presidency with little or no political experience. Not a good thing to do for very good reasons.

Obama’s experience was in community organizing, a state senator where he did next-to-nothing, and a two year Senator who continued doing nothing beyond running for president.

Herman Cain worked for the Federal Reserve, was president of the National Restaurant Association, CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, had his own radio show; i.e. he has a surplus of business experience.

Obama has naturally placed leftists and socialists in his cabinet and throughout the administration. These people have no clue how to deal with our economic problems, our world problems, our nation as a whole.

Herman Cain will have a plethora of talented people on the right with a good grasp of social, economic and world affairs from which to draw. A Herman Cain administration will in no way look like, feel like, or govern like the Obama administration. And as a plus, there’s a distinct possibility he will have a GOP Congress to get things sorted out. In short, his political experience is a plus; not a negative. The last thing we need come this election is another politics-as-usual candidate to maintain the status quo.

Usually, yes, but not always; George W. Bush naming Colin Powell as his Secretary-of-State-to-be helped him a lot among voters unsure about Bush’s foreign-policy experience.

Herman Cain does not pretend to be a know-it-all. In my opinion, that's a good thing. The path to wisdom begins the moment you realize that you don't know everything. That tells me HC is a wise man.

I challenge the Kochs. Get some top-grade detectives and lawyers (whom you certainly can afford) and turn them loose on Politico, its "anonymous sources," and their lawyers, and bring them all to justice. Give the enemy a taste of his own medicine. No more of this G.W. Bush rope-a-dope crap. This is war.

Rush may agree with you...he said Herman Cain doesn't know enough to organize protection from a hit piece. He asked..."Who is this dumb, amateur idiot who's entered our (MSM) business of politics? He never done anything but run a pizza place and he's outsmarting us with no strategy?

Looks like Cain outsmarted the "experts"...on the left and, sadly, on the "right" (Tokyo, Dana PeRINO, etc.)
