What a wonderful night it was when Ronald Reagan was elected and GOP won the Senate defeating all of those liberals! I hate that the media gave blue to the Democrats. Yes , I have read about this.

I do remember hearing Reagan speak (on TV) in 1976. It was electrifying and I think my political awakening began at that moment. I wish I had ever heard him in person, I’m sure it was something never to be forgotten. Yes, Carter was a disaster, except that he paved the way for Reagan 4 years later.
It wasn’t until after hearing Rush I learned about how sweeping the Senate victory was in 1980 .. despite liberal media.. talk about a coattails/tidal wave. But look at the liberals who got reelected in the South. But many of these GOP 1980 winners lost in 1986, narrowly without RWR on the ticket. And not being best candidates , clear message, not proud conservatives . ( We had to wait for 1994)
And I have heard Rush talk often about “U.S. cadavers— AHEM— Senator’s “ California win in 1986.

I hope same fate befalls most of 2006 Democrats next year.
My memory is It was strange after RWR was elected , the hostages still were held until January 20th, John Lennon was killed December 8th.
I was only a sophomore in HS.
Yeah, I had the same feeling. My earlier post here I had not looked at the Youtube video first, so it was a bit duplicative. The map almost solid blue by the time TV came on, so must’ve been an hour later of the declaration. What a night!
I was sort of busy that fall (my son was born on the 28th of Nov) and yeah, a lot happened, with Lennon’s death as well. It was so long ago, but the main thing I remember is it just felt like things were going to be ok, especially after the hostages were released. Of course, I was really busy with 3 little boys, so it’s all pretty fuzzy. But those were pretty good days, everyone seemed so positive and life seemed pretty good.
