OAKLAND -- An armed forces veteran was in the intensive care unit of Highland Hospital after suffering serious injuries that he said were caused by a confrontation with police during this week's Occupy Oakland protests.
Kayvan Sabehgi was among the 103 people arrested early Thursday after a day of peaceful protests turned violent. He was arrested for remaining at the scene of a riot and resisting arrest, police said.
Sabehgi told members of Iraq Veterans Against the War that he was beaten by police with nightsticks on his hands, shoulders, ribs and back. He suffered internal injuries, including a lacerated spleen, he told the group.
Oakland police are investigating the allegations, said spokeswoman Johnna Watson.

What’s the matter with these cops? Don’t they know they aren’t supposed to hurt the little “armed forces veterans” even if the are trying to burn the place down?
Congratulations, Mayor Quan and City Council.
No dead .. yet.
but a lot of tension and hostility is still bubbling below the surface,, stay the course.
You’ll get your immortalization of the cause yet.. even get to have pics of you at the funeral services empathizing with the ‘cause’ , I bet.. and the inquests that will likely follow.. oh yeah, lots of pics.
He chose his side.
They’ll drag Neil Young out of retirement to perform “One Hurt in Oakland”.
Veteran or no, I have zero sympathy for these scumbags.
A quick search shows little but the almost identical information about this guy. No other details, just three identifiers, that he was in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Veterans Against the War.
Saying someone is a veteran is meaningless unless they are identified by branch, and possibly unit. Rank is a big plus as well.
We watched their antics in silent disgust. Then we moved on. As we were walking along, I said: “I'd wish for one thing — a ground-to-air radio talking to two A-6E Intruders loaded with 250-pound Snake Eye retarded bombs and napalm. I'd give these bastards and bitches the experience of their worthless lives.” We agreed it would be interesting to watch.
We have found out that the “Marine” injured was dishonorably discharged for using cocaine, and owned a site “ihatethemarines.com
Guess they needed another poster boy.
Scroll down. Promotion list to E5/E6 in 2007
Not unusual for the Left to promote fake veterans so it's only prudent to confirm everyone they claim to be an "armed forces veteran".
Rule Two: Don't stand next to folks who are violating Rule One.
Yeah, sucks to be stupid.
Anyone find it odd that the ONLY (supposedly) seriously injured Occuoy protestors/rioters are “veterans?” Something is hinky.
Infantry E-5 in 2007. Further information is that Sabeghi is a Shiite-Persian name found in both Iran and the UAE. Kevyan or Kavyan is a popular Persian boy’s name.
Yeah, I ran across a Sabeghi dot ir website. Didn’t want to touch it without firing up Linux though :)
Reuters has this..
former U.S. Army Ranger and Occupy Oakland protester per article.
so much for claim he was just minding his own business,, which per a tv news clip this morning, he co-owns a local brew pub in Oakland.
He was leaving the protest to go home. The irony.

Army veteran injured in Oakland clashes with police

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A former U.S. Army Ranger and Occupy Oakland protester was in intensive care on Friday after a veterans’ group said he was beaten by police during clashes with anti-Wall Street demonstrators this week.
Why me so lucky?
On this site a man claiming to be a vet was found to be bogus, research will find out the fakes. Check out the whole blog below, amazing photos of the Denver bunch, and tons of background about the OWSers in general.
Mufti presented as peoples heroes two demonstrators who had been arrested by police, in Denver, and in New York. The first was William Hall, a.k.a. Billy Reno, who claims that he is a veteran Special Forces soldier who served in East Africa. It appears to those dedicated to exposing military posers that Reno is lying about his service.
Thread busting him here:
I emailed my friend, Major Diggs Brown, a National Guard Special Forces officer (Green Beret, and author of Your Neighbor Went to War,) because I thought that this Reno character didnt sound smart enough to be in the Special Forces. He replied that it sure looks like the guy is a poser, and pointed me to this comment thread, where Reno is busted by people who actually served in the theater and units Reno claims to have served in.
My name is Reno. I was arrested in a tent. Right here, I was hauled out of a tent in 22 degree weather. (crowd: YAY!) I went to jail, and they wouldnt let me have my medicine (MMJ?) so I had to hunger strike it til they let me out.
The Anarchist Black Cross, and this kitchen, theyre the only people who are getting our people out of jail. So lets have a hand for the Anarchist Black Cross (crowd: YAY! big applause + drumming) and Krustys Kitchen over there. Every time they see us serving food, it gets at them, cause they cant charge people for it, and any time we give something away, it gets at them, cause they cant charge people for it, so what they do, is they put people in jail to try to silence this movement. Were not going to let that happen today, are we? OCCUPY DENVER!!!
Note my comment above about a faux Ranger vet at the Occupuke Denver protest.
