Attorney for Cain accuser says ‘series’ of incidents prompted complaint
Washington Post ^ | November 5th 2011 | Amy Gardner and James V. Grimaldi

Posted on 11/05/2011 2:38:47 AM PDT by Cardhu

The attorney for one of the women who accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment said Friday that “a series of inappropriate behaviors and unwanted advances” spanning months led his client to take action. He also challenged the presidential contender’s credibility in claiming not to recall details about the incidents or her allegations.

The late-day news conference by lawyer Joel P. Bennett offered the most details to date of a scandal that has consumed Washington and the race for the Republican nomination for the past week. His account contrasts with comments made by Cain, who initially disputed the allegations but later said he recalled a single incident while he was head of the National Restaurant Association in which he compared a female subordinate’s height to that of his wife.

“Mr. Cain knows the specific incidents that were alleged,” Bennett said. “My client filed a written complaint in 1999 against him specifically. It had very specific incidents in it. If he chooses not to remember or acknowledge those, that’s his issue.”

The restaurant association also released a statement Friday confirming that it had agreed to the settlement with Bennett’s client in September 1999 “without any admission of liability.” The statement noted that Cain had denied the allegations at the time and was not a party to the settlement. The statement also said the association has waived a confidentiality requirement, giving Bennett’s client permission to speak about the allegations. Bennett said his client, who has been married for 26 years, does not plan to do so.

As the saying goes: “Put up, or shut up”.

The NRA offered to RELEASE the woman from her non-disclosure, if what I read yesterday is correct.

She refused and went silent. The entire episode appears to be BUNK.

TOTAL BUNK.

As this blogger said the other day, 'sexual harassment' is the 'slip and fall' suit for the new century. And Joel Bennett is nothing but an ambulance chaser. The American People know a hatchet job when we see one, and this attempted smear of Herman Cain has failed.

**********************************************************

LOL, so this slime ball and his client have been begging the NRA to waive the confidentiality agreement and allow the woman to defend herself, and when it is waived and their bluff is called the woman refuses to speak out.

Now doesn't this put a huge exclamation point on this farcical event?

Anonymous accuser that refuses to talk about what might or might not have happened 26 years ago. And that other people say is not consistent with Cain’s character.

Cain should just ignore these articles. Let them keep talking about it and eventually they will say too much and be in breech of settlement. Then the accuser can repay that settlement. Ate they hoping for hush money this time around?

Until the press reports actual details of the allegations this is nothing but leftist media bias of lynching through headlines.

Can you imagine calling yourself a journalistic enterprise and running 90 articles ona “scandal” without once mentioning any substance??

All week people have been implying that this woman was a sweet young thing in her 20’s that needed mommy and daddy to help her through this devastation. This morning for the first time I heard she's in her 50’s which would have made her at least 40 at the time. I think that not only did they want to imply that Mr. Cain was a “sexual abuser” but that he was a crib robber too.

I’m am tired of hearing about this so I must ask. Where in the Constitution does it say that a candidate must “pure”? The Bible clearly states that no man is.

IF Mr Cain harassed someone, how does that affect us now or in the future? Will it make us richer, poorer, healthier, sicker, smarter, dumber?

Shouldn’t we be looking at the candidate’s business brain? His love for Our Country?

The media, democrats and RINO’s are trying to hold a gun to Cain’s head with no bullets in it. Apparently, they think more guns with no bullets are somehow more convincing, and that voters are stupid enough to fall for this.

I’m aware of this but they were implying both women were sweet young things. No where did I hear one of the women was in her 40’s. I’m sorry but if you don’t know how to handle boorish behavior by the time you’re that age, than something is wrong with you.

The accuser has been silent for 15 years or so. She didn’t break her silence. Politico did.

She still didn’t speak out until Cain made disparaging remarks about her.

However, from what I can tell, it became a problem because Politico contacted the lawyer and *he* kept giving interviews and talking too much.

As a woman who has worked in a once Male dominated industry(Good ole’ boy)
I have dealt with discrimination for 35 years. My take on all of this is, “Go Cain Go”! This is just too ridiculous to spend valuble time on. And for the record,
no one came to my aid when a pervert client of mine caught me in a doorway and pinched my butt! Made me realize that carrying a weapon was a good idea!

It's even better/worse than that!

I watched the press conference Live. This is what the attorney said (paraphrasing):

We have not asked the NRA to waive the confidentiality agreement, other than what is contained in this statement, and we do not plan to do so.

!!!!!

The NRA, volunteered their own statement, saying they waive the confidentiality agreement -- effectively telling the world: Go ahead and talk all you want, there is nothing in that agreement that will hurt the NRA OR CAIN.

There is an article floating around somewhere that said the leaders or the members of the NRA had met right before this whole thing broke, and they had unanimously agreed they were going to support (endorse) Cain. Then this broke, so they had to hold off on that, until they got all their ducks in a row. The ducks are now lined up. So I wouldn't be surprised if they endorse Cain at some point. (Caveat: They may feel that this would now hurt Cain more than help him, implying they are in cahoots to "cover up" some phantom sex "scandal.")

When I left the Navy I became an assistant manager for the Rank Organization. Apart from the projectionists and doormen all the staff were female. I used to relieve the managers of other theaters during the week so I dealt with the staffs of three or four theatres.

Luckily, I managed to get through that minefield of succulent delights. I did get a couple of complaints from the secretaries at different theaters about their managers - only one was for a single case of sexual harassment of the secretary.

If it happened for months, why did she settle? There’s something we are not being told.

The obsession of the Left points up its hypocrisy. These are same people who said Clinton’s conduct was a private matter. Cain was not a powerful government official.

But then we can expect the double standard.

I see the Washington Pest commies have picked up the fascist flag from Politico and are trying to run with this manufactured propaganda from Rove.

I still don’t see the story. Nobody does. The Politico has mortally wounded itself, and people see it for the propaganda rag it is. If we can get congress to stop paying for Washington Post subscriptions that are free to liberals and Washington bureaucrats, the Post will die a quick and ignoble death.

That is a good observation. Now imagine this gal is a hog and has been for a few decades and that she has several such sexual harassment charges throughout her professional career. If/when people saw that it might shut this whole mess down and they wouldn't want that either. I think we're seeing the creation of a straw-man in reverse, a created personality speaking through her lawyers. It's hard to defeat an opponent who only speaks from behind the curtain.

Cain’s “disparaging remarks” (the mystery woman’s lawyer’s term) was a reference to when Cain was asked by Greta about the woman’s job performance, and Cain said her work performance was “poor”. That’s all he said. Probably accurate, and no where near as disparaging as the sinister claims against him.

Thank God, true Americans out here are not responding to the disgusting double standard. If this nation wants the “crib robbers” to be arrested, they need to demand that the powers that be in Washington D.C., watch Lisa Ling’s special about the underage prostitution run by pimps in one of D.C.’s areas where men in business suits with baby seats in their cars swarm in after dark to solicit sex with the youngest ones they can find..Who are these men in suits? Where do they work? Try to see this documentary if you haven’t. It is very disturbing that this is allowed to go on in our nation’s capitol.

This whole thing about Cain is going to backfire on O’Bambi and the Demo-Coms as well as the so called conservatives who don’t believe in the “social issues”.

First off if I were black and from “the hood” I’d be very pissed at what BS the Demo-Coms are throwing up at Cain. This is going to resonate in the black community and it’s going to hurt the Demo-Coms.

Secondly the first ones on the GOP side to use the “Cain is toast” mantra were the talk show hosts inclined toward pooh-pooing social issues.

I pulled this from a piece I;m working on about one of them . Now the guy I’m commenting on is a good guy, does a lot of good work, but, like everyone else we all have our short commings...btw like our candidates. In this case he was commenting on Mark Block Cain’s cheif of staff whom has some baggage here and apparently some personal experiences with Sykes with in Wisconsin. Block was the person smoking a cigarette in that infamous Cain commercial

Charlie Sykes a conservative talk show host at Milwaukee’s WTMJ am 620 8:30 till noon daily slot has spent his second day going after Mark Block, Cain’s chief of staff as arrogant ,and inept and warns Block will wind up embarrassing Cain because of Mark Block’s mishandling of funds in a Wisconsin race ..

Sykes opened up on Block 10/26/11. Sykes claimed the ad depicting Block smoking a cigarette was pure ego and the focus would be on Block. Sykes is the kind of guy who doesn’t see smoking bans as a goverment intrusion.

In the 2009 presidential race Sykes endorsed Rudy Giuluiani and I concluded my observations with the following;

Sykes is one of several talk show hosts and RINOS who are infulenced by MSM positions particularly on social issues. When the subject of the Keyes vs Obama race for Illinois US senator, Deleware’s O’Donnell or the Nevada Sharon Angle US senatorial races comes up he will decry the conservative position on social issues these candidates took..

Sykes will never bring up the disasters in California where most of those statewide and US candidates took middle of the road positions and sunk like lead balloons to the bottom of the water closet.”

Posting in FR’s can get to be pretty frustrating. For me it takes time to put together a thoughtfull piece .By the time I’m done if I don’t post fast enough it’s loaded with grammar or typing errors. So I wind up at the bottom end of the first 50 or 100 comments, nany vapid, that contribute nothing or little to the subject.at hand
