KABUL, Afghanistan — A senior American general stationed in Afghanistan has been fired for criticizing President Hamid Karzai in a published interview.
The NATO and American commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John R. Allen, announced in a press release on Saturday that he was dismissing Maj. Gen. Peter Fuller, the deputy commander for programs at the NATO training mission in Afghanistan, effective immediately. “The decision follows recent inappropriate public comments made by Maj. Gen. Fuller,” General Allen said.
The statement was issued early Saturday morning in Kabul, which was still Friday in the United States, where General Fuller had been on a speaking tour. It came shortly after a Thursday interview with the two-star United States Army general was published by the news Web site Politico.
General Fuller was responding to remarks made by President Karzai a week earlier in which he told a Pakistani interviewer that Afghanistan would come to Pakistan’s aid if attacked by the United States.
“Why don’t you just poke me in the eye with a needle! You’ve got to be kidding me,” General Fuller said. “I’m sorry, we just gave you $11.6 billion and now you’re telling me, ‘I don’t really care?’ ”
General Fuller also described President Karzai as erratic and inarticulate.

Speaking the truth,in public,in today’s Military is always a career ending event.
What the heck are we doing there other than trying to prop up a corrupt regime which doesn’t enjoy the support of its people and which would turn on us in a second if it felt that it would benefit them?
We should fire Karzai and put this guy in his place.
Not as long as Imam Obama is their CinC at any rate.

Then that means that Gen Fuller sacrificed 2 stars and a choice assignment to send America a message. He fell on his sword, in all likelihood, so that we would know the truth of the leadership in Afghanistan. It would be nice to have full text of his remarks.
When the generals speak bluntly, then we are being told American lives are too precious to any longer sacrifice for this stooge named Karzai.
The American military has done enough. Let this puke president suffer the security consequences of bringing them home. I’m sick of this low life CiC putting all the burden and more on our soldiers while forcing them to endure fags, multicultural commies and a no victory mission. I’m perfectly willing to keep an eye out for mullah omar here at home.
The Armed Forces have re-adopted the policy —only changing it to “Don't ask [the truth], Don't Tell [the truth]!!

In fact, the Afghan government made requests for F-16 fighter jets and tanks, even without the budget to use or maintain them, said Fuller. “I actually had someone senior tell me, ‘All I want to do is put them [tanks] on a flat bed and drive them around in a parade,” he said.
It is well past time for America to take action on Pakistan. We call Iran the big threat - Pakistan is also a big threat. Our attempt to buy the loyalty of anti-American nations is ridiculous.
I totally agree with the general. The afghans have learned nothing from all of our years of mentoring and assistance. they don’t care to learn. and they are either OK with us leaving because they think they can secure their own family, or they are too stupid to think past the nose on their own face.
this general told it like it is. i agree 100 pct with what he said. any NORMAL person would. unfortunately, our politically correct society won’t allow the truth to come out. the real insult was Karzai saying he’d back pakistan against the US. why was he not asked to apologize?
i have zero confidence in our ability to turn the situation around in afghanistan, even if we had all the poeple we wanted. the afghans have given up. we have largely given up. the rules of engagement are stupid. and there’s a never-ending stream of bad guys coming across the border.
let them place implode. almost all of the money in afghanistan is brought in by ISAF. when ISAF goes, so goes the money. these people will be able to last maybe a year or two when we leave. no more. but since we are leaving, come hell or high water, let’s just go now. don’t waste another American life for these people and their perpetual problems. if they start training terrorists again, we can send a few cruise missiles in and blow em up i guess.

Absolutely. We shouldn’t spend a nickle or risk losing one brave soldier defending these 6th century ingrates.
Oklahoma’s National Guard brigade combat team in Afghanistan now has suffered significant losses (14 to date, IIRC, since June) and I’m really tired of seeing these young people on the front page. This general’s comment seals the deal for me that it is time for the US to get out while retaining armed drone sorties and some Special Forces like the “Horse Soldiers” that went in there in 2001-2. Keep any Taliban off-balance and make smoking holes where al-Quaeda leadership pops up on the landscape.
General Fuller has a point.
$11 billion for what ?
I hope that when we eventually leave, Karzai is the last fatality. Save that last bullet for him so he can’t run off to Paris and enjoy his stolen millions or billions.

In to-days army, what happened to MacArthur. What is that statement about not knowing history and repeating it.
The money is viewed as “Jizya” that we Infidels are required to pay to the koranimals for use of their “-Stan” & it buys no allegiance what-so-ever from them.
