Maybe Andy Rooney was sucking on the propofol drip when the doctor left the room.

Seriously though, his service in WWII requires reflection,

A pacifist correspondent that didn't believe we should be fighting Nazism? Am I missing something?

He served in WWII. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have anything good to say about the man.

He was a pacifist corresponded that didn't believe in War.

God Bless him for his work During WW2, he actually went on Missions with the 8th Airforce.

As a pacifist correspondent that didn't believe in war.

One less vote for 0bama.

Nope, only one fewer voter showing up at the polls, his vote will be counted and maybe enhanced.

Hell, they may move it to his home in CN if they need it there instead of NY {or in both places, twice}.

I wonder what the undisclosed surgery was that he got complications from and died.

May he rest in peace.

He’s one member of the MSM I will miss. Will there ever be another like him?

There will always be more socialist pacifists ...

Rooney always made me laugh, I may not have agreed with everything he said but I always got a chuckle out of him. His daughter Emily (big lib) does a PBS show here in Boston. Condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.

I’m tired of taking the high road ‘cause it’s the right thing to do. Guess I’ll act like a mean, nasty democrat and say that I don’t care that the world has one less liberal today. Just sayin’...

My point is even if he was a pacifist it took some balls to get into a B-17 and go on a mission.. Even if it was a milk run there had to be flack. So he gets kudos for that.. IMHO

“So, we want to know which “minor surgeries” kill you?”

The dude was 92 years old. A hard morning crap could have killed him.

I rarely, if ever, agreed with Andy Rooney, but he was paid to deliver political and social “commentary”. He never pretended to be a jounrnalist. IMO, the major problem with today’s media is that they don’t separate “commentary” from “news”. I know this is oxymoronic, but agenda now drives journalism. I say R.I.P., Mr. Rooney. You made us think and laugh at the same time. I often came away aggravated, but opinion pieces create that feeling. That’s what they’re for.

If I remember, you were giving kudos to him for "serving". He was a pacifist, socialist-loving correspondent. Most pacifist, socialist-loving correspondents aren't exactly known for accurate reporting.

I really enjoyed his non-political stuff. Kind of Seinfeld style. “Did you ever notice how many cereal boxes all say the same thing?”

My dad died at age 91 four years ago. He was in the army 1 year when Pearl Harbor hit. I really take notice of these old vets passing. We could use some of their spirit today, especially in DC. Any way to resurrect Patton and some of the others? I’m all for it.

I figured he was one of those guys who keep going as long as they have a job to go to and when they don't, they're done for. That's not exactly true: complications of surgery, so if he hadn't gone under the knife he might have survived a while longer.

Still, he did kind of outlive all these political controversies. You get old enough and you become an institution. Stick around longer and you become an irrelevancy, and all the arguments and attacks refer to ancient history.

He was always more of a lap dog, rather than an attack dog, somebody who was more interested in complaining about plastic bags and fabric softeners than arguing about the big issues of the day, somebody who when he did get political was petty and beside the point. If he was your lap dog, you may miss him, if he wasn't you won't, but still, for better or worse, he was a pretty tame mutt.

I hope you are not referring to AR as a vet ...

Wasn’t he a war correspondent and enlisted? My dad’s death caused me to notice these passings more?

I guess I am. Unless you can explain how he is not.

” He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941, and began writing for the Stars and Stripes in London a year later. In 1943, he was one of seven correspondents who flew on the second American bombing raid over Germany, and later was one of the first American journalists to visit and write about the German concentration camps.”

Re: He served in WWII. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have anything good to say about the man.

He was very much against the United States being in World War Two but after serving and seeing the carnage the Germans caused first hand, he changed his mind and supported the effort.

However, in post-years he was just another MSM liberal crap-spewer.

I shall not missing him at all.
