You know, the pragmatism you espouse is the political philosophy I have lived my entire adult life. For decades now, I have worked for candidates, contributed and done work in the state and local branches of the pubbies believing that if I didn't, the bad guys would triumph. As William F. Buckley used to say: “I always vote for the rightward-most viable candidate.” Then, in the last Bush reign, I finally woke up. The bad guys have already triumphed. The RATs are communists and are driving home the agenda. On the other hand, most pubbies are:

1. Corrupt and reliably purchased for whores, money or both.
2. Stupid - this goes without saying for most of them.
3. de facto Socialists - despite what they, themselves, think.

Those that are not (true conservatives) are hamstrung by those who are, and, too often, by those in control of the party. As an example, how often have you been motivated by robocalls and literature to vote ‘R’ because we had to get solid conservatives onto the benches of SCOTUS and other federal courts? Zillions? And today, we're still hanging on by a razors edge because our duly elected ‘R’ representatives continually give away the courts to lefties (Harriet Meyers ring a bell?) or moderates that side with lefties. Does the left do this? No. They always appoint doctrinaire Marxists. Why is that - are they more committed to principle or are we just dumb? How about those give away programs and entitlements that have nearly killed this nation? The ‘R's side with the RATs nearly all the time because of fear and the ‘R's are now responsible for the most massive education and farm bills in history. I could go on, but you know the truth of this yourself . . .

The plain truth is, there is no conservative future if there aren't conservatives being forged in the fire of true adversity - when it really counts to take a stand. Today's “conservatives” are that in name only and then only once in an election cycle; you need look no further than most of the current crop of endorsement wannabes wandering around in front of cameras and jabbering like they were Patrick Henry. Sadly, the term means nothing other than hype and the elected products betray the trust of those who send them term after term and year after year - that is the future and that future is exactly what you fear - America's destruction.

Voting for principles means precisely that - you just might lose and lose your country, too. But what, I ask, do you gain when your country is given away by your ‘fellow conservatives’ and lost through attrition as IS the case we have today? No, my friend, the time for marginal votes is over. This is an age of principle and firm stance, a winnowing if you will, that will draw the lines and forge a new framework to face the coming destruction of America by our enemies or America's renewal by true sons and daughters of liberty.

I want America back - nothing less.

I watched the so-called debate tonight. I would call it a conference instead of a debate, however, I think that both candidates did what they set out to do, and improved their relative positions in the primary contest- Newt possibly more than Cain, because of Cain’s multiple “you go first” comments. But Cain getting needed exposure in a friendly setting, probably helped himself overall. At this point, I can support either. I still wish John Bolton had thrown his hat in.

He is becoming as well loved and popular as the Westboro Baptist Church, with his incessant posts on all Newt threads.

"My perfect choices for President chose not to run this year, so I have to pick from what's left. When I stack Newt Gingrich up against the rest of them, he comes out on top in terms of brains and the ability to be effective."

I agree with everything in your post- My perfect choice was John Bolton, however, Newt's the best choice running, in my opinion.

I could support Gingrich/Cain with much greater enthusiasm than Cain/Gingrich.

I’ve seen your posts everywhere bashing Newt. Did you vote for Obama last time? Be honest.

Newt is amazing. Smart, articulate, and fearless. He knows the ropes and can hit the ground running on January 20, 2013. We certainly don't need Obama--nor do we need another new president with a steep learning curve--regardless of his political affiliation.

Newt is our last best hope of a victory in 2012—and America returning to a position of strength and confidence.

GOOOOOOOOO Newt!!
