House GOP To Norquist: Our Tax Pledge Expired
Newsmax ^ | 09 Nov 2011 | N/A

Republican House members are increasingly separating themselves from Grover Norquist and Americans for Tax Reform, the interest group he leads. Specifically they’re disconnecting from ATR’s pledge to oppose any tax increase, The Hill reports.

While some congressmen signed the pledge recently, others did so years ago. Norquist began the pledge in 1986. ATR cites 238 House signers of its Taxpayer Protection Pledge, but several House Republicans accuse the group of being underhanded about it and want to remove their names from the list.

On its Internet display of the pledge’s signers, which includes all but six House Republicans, Americans for Tax Reform includes several congressmen who say they refused to sign it in last year’s election campaigns.

“I haven’t signed it since 1994,” Rep. Steven LaTourette, R-Ohio, told The Hill. He said he didn’t even recall joining the pledge until Norquist’s group found the original document earlier this year. And he doesn’t view it as a permanent commitment.

“My driver’s license expires. The milk in my refrigerator expires. My gym membership expires, and I find the website to be a little deceptive,” LaTourette said. While several other House Republicans voiced the same thoughts, Norquist would have none of it.

“Does that even pass the laugh test?” he asked The Hill. “A promise not to do something doesn’t have a time limit. I haven’t even had junior state legislators pull that crap.”

LaTourette is an A-hole. Pledges mean NOTHING to anyone running with a (D) next to their name.

Tax all you want; you are running out of people with income to tax.

Carnac’s such an expert on taxes though.

No doubt he’s in line to be in charge of collecting the non-muslim tax from Americans who choose conversion over death.

Sign your own damn pledges and put them on your websites, if you’re so inclined. Giving Grover fracking Norquist any power whatsoever is insanity. The man should be shunned.

LaTourette has an "R" next to his name, but yes he's still making a fool of himself here.

As a lifelong conservative I have never gotten this deal with Norquist. As far as I could ever see, he is adept at making noise and garnering publicity, maybe a little notoriety, but I have never seen or heard evidence that he has made a difference. He's sort of like Larry Klayman in that regard. I don't think he has had any power to speak of.

That fact that so many House Repubs over many years have felt the need to kowtow to this man and publicly sign his stupid pledge suggests he has some power. Why, I haven’t the slightest clue.

Norquist is a muslim convert. He is married to a muslim. He started the ‘islamic institute’. He is/was an agenda setter, policy maker, lobbyist and overall heavy hitter for the muslim terrorist front group, (working like the 1930’s nazi ‘bund’ groups here in the USA), C.A.I.R. He has fooled many. His reach into islam and sharia law here is deep. He is a terrorist plain and simple. Many links you can peruse to get an added look at this bastard norquist. It is coming out about him, slow yes, but it is getting out.

LaTourette is a purest form of RINO. He touts himself to be a “Moderate”, and with his voting record, Democrats vote for him in his District that way. He is a loser.

Grover Norquist is human scum.

He now considers repealing the biofuels subsidies as a tax increase.

He is either a crazed ideologue or a whore for lobbyists, or most likely both.

Anyone who disassociates himself from Norquist is a decent bloke in my book.

IMHO, it's stupid for any politician to sign any pledge, which severely limits his options for dealing with unforeseen circumstances. It's equally stupid, and potentially ruinously counterproductive, for any activist group to demand that their ideological allies sign such pledges.

And the Tokyo Rove RINo Republican DC have allowed him and his islamo-lackeys to infiltrate the GOP.

Here’s a link to an interview about the Trojan Horse Nordquist and how, before he became the anti-tax darling of the DC GOP establishment, he was bankrolled as a paid lobbyist for CAIR and its Al-Qaeda affiliates in the US.

Thanks for the link. You might also know, (or read in previous posts of mine), that the SCUM TERRORIST norquist was allowed to be vetted, put up to a vote, voted in and then installed into the National Rifle Ass. board of directors! (They knew FULL well of his anti-American dealings to and STILL allowed his seating)! I phoned them when I found out about it. Their reps EXACT reply to me? “sir, the NRA does not care what it’s board members do on their own time” unqoute. I dropped ‘em imm. and so did quite a few of my fellow gun pals. I still find it hard to believe at one time I would be ready to go to duke city if somebody bad mouthed the NRA in my presence. Still hard to believe that they have sunk to muslim butt toadies they are now from the great org. they were at one time.
