Rick Perry on debate gaffe: 'I stepped in it'
Polutico ^ | Wednesday November 9, 2011 | Alexander Burns

Rick Perry swiftly came to the spin room after the end of the GOP debate Wednesday night and directly told reporters that he screwed up on stage.

"I'm glad I had my boots on tonight," Perry said. "I stepped in it out there." Continue Reading

Perry froze up on stage as he attempted to list the three federal departments he planned to cut, naming Education and Commerce but forgetting the Department of Energy.

Said Perry: "I may have forgotten Energy, but I haven't forgotten my conservative principles."

Asked by a reporter if that moment was embarrassing, Perry said: "I stepped in it, man. Yeah, it was embarrassing. Of course it was."

Recall that smelt in CA that Sarah Palin called “bait”?

She was right. As far as I know, the water is still shut off to the farmers.

The sheer magnitude of closures over endangered bugs bushes and birds is beyond the ability of people to really wrap their minds around. From the Off rooad side I can tell you of MILLIONS of acres that have already been closed to EVERYONE (except the Sierra Club types (and in one case in upstate NY, LITERALLY to all but the Sierra Club). That’s just 1 thing.

Then add up the closures that effect farming, logging drilling, mining, home building, powerline/pipeline construction, irrigation, and add the phrase ‘millions of acres” to each and every one of those.

Now ponder the Billions of dollars lost as those lands are now suddenly taken from the public and private ...for the children, and in the name of species deemed endangered by the people who want said land closed.

Look up “Turtle Island” and then recoil in horror as it is part and Parcel of United Nations Agenda 21.

And for those unaware, the US Govt is ALL FOR Agenda 21 under Dem and many Republican leaders.

That agency is totally out of control and has out lived its usefulness in the real world. Shut it down and reopen if necessary under very strict guide lines and in a very small capacity.

As for the infighting between Sarah Palin supporters and Rick Perry supporters, IIRC, Sarah’s supporters stayed with her until her decision on October 5, so the majority of her supporters were the ones being beaten over their heads for not jumping ship. Some folks need to grow thicker skins, move on or stop whining. I like Newt and Herman best right now, but I’m more than willing to vote for all of our guys and Michele save for Romney; (knowing that Ron Paul and Hunstman won’t win).

Oh yeah, and get out of the UN - that was Governor Perry’s GOOD MENTION during the previous debate.

We really need to get out of the idiot U.N.

Yup. Total agreement. The UN gives ‘teeth’ to the EPA. Yup, fumigate that building and then burn it to the ground. Without US dollars, the UN evaporates along with their edicts and asorted evil in the world.

Sure, they keep some things in check...unnaturally. And that’s why we have the foreign policy grief we do. If some of these countries had to deal with bs on their own, and amongst themselves directly, we wouldn’t have the masses we ALL do.

Bush won back to back Presidential elections, love the troops, was pretty selfless, still managed 5% unemployment after 9-11.

bus was an excellent President, he just liked to spend and he was too nice. Perry doesn't like to spend.

Consider this, there is a sizable group of people in the electorate who are undecided and who are looking for substance. Herman Cain has zero record to base his words on.

Newt and Mitt have been on both sides of the argument too many times and Perry has the very best economic record of any candidate running.

The last poll I saw had Cain and Romney tied at 21% and Perry and Newt virtually tied at around 11-12 percent.

When you see a person up close and talk to them and get a sense of who they are and you see people mocking that same decent person, it makes you want to circle the wagons to defend the guy.

The EPA is the tool that the libs use to destroy farms and orchards through forced drought condition, stop energy exploration, crush manufacturing and energy production.

Perry is the one candidate with the conviction and the proven record to take this agency on.

.... Perry has failed many times to live up to his billing as put forth by his ardent fans....you know, the ones that infested Palin threads touting Perry at every turn while denigrating Palin supporters......The irony of it all is not lost on the casual observer or Palin supporter......

Kind of like their chickens are starting to come home to roost you mean.

Yes he did do well otherwise. I don’t know who makes me more disgusted, Romney or all the horrible Perry bashers on F.R., they have gotten out of hand.

You can always go over to DU if you feel you need to get away from all us so real conservative Cain supporters.

Perry put the toaster setting on burn with this one. Forever he’ll be known as two out of three Perry and lampooned out of the election by the media and hollywood.

“Mr. President, your plans to adjust spending in the military triad will affect which branches of service?”—my spending cuts will affect the Army, Navy and, uh,...oh what was that other one....uh....oops.

“Mr. President, can you explain what being a Christian means to you?”.....Why yes, I worship the Father, Son and the...uh,..oh,...mmm....what was that other one...uh, darn, oops.

Perry is an illegal alien coddling panderer who does not respect parental rights. The fact that he’s lockstep with me on the EPA does in no way excuse the many other flaws in his political ideology.

In fact I have praised his EPA stance on a couple threads. But I dont think decent human beings abandon their countrymen’s desires to benefit illegals. And please don’t tell me about the feds and the TX legislature. Perry has always had it within his power to put up any number of roadblocks to illegals. He has not.

He plays the game to pacify republican voters, talks tough and then gets blankets and sombreros from the Mex Pres for his help with illegals. He speaks at racist LaRaza events, Speaks at Racist Muslim events and then comes running hat in hand to Conservatives.

And his fence thing... he has it exactly backwards. Those miles of empty are where a REAL fence would do the most good. A city is far easier to cover with patrols than a thousand mile stretch.

I present to you the same challenge that has gone unanswered by Perry supporters since he announced...

Explain to me how his stance on Illegals, Islam, guardasil, TTC and the fence shows conservative belief, principle or values. Prove to me and others sharing my belief that it does and he gets my vote. But since his actions prove by any rational measure and generally accepted definition to be the polar opposite of conservative regarding these issues, I do not see how that is possible. But I invite you to try and I’ll honestly look at it with an open mind.

I am sorry for what happened with Perry last night. I know so many FReepers had their hopes tied to this candidate, and this was no way I wanted to see his campaign end.

You're right. The reputations of our available candidates have been spun by the left to show them as a bunch of incompetent bozos.

Except Romney really is a gun-grabbing baby killer.

In the meantime, our mozlim, kenyan, homo, anti-American, ineligible "pres_ent" is a brilliant genius and statesman who has the country moving "toward" the right track. He just needs four more years to complete his task.

It's over Alice. He's cooked. That is all they are showing from the debate on the news which is a shame since Cain did a phenomenal job and should have his lines on the news. Perry really should drop out today. The poor guy is seriously in pain when on stage. He doesn't enjoy debates as he himself has stated so why not drop out.

Bush won back to back Presidential elections, love the troops, was pretty selfless, still managed 5% unemployment after 9-11.

He left the border wide open for terrorists in our midst. He instituted an intolerable internal security system. He blew a trillion in Iraq to no end. Instead he pussy footed with Iran while they built nuke capability we may not be able to stop. He barely beat a billionaire Massachusetts leftist, a weaker Rat than Dukakis. He made a buffoon of himself in press conferences. He instituted the largest entitlement since MediCare. He did NOTHING about the regulatory bureaucracy that is killing our economy. He touted home ownership stats while the bubble built and paid off the same Goldman Sachs thugs when it did. When he was done, Democrats held congress and a Marxist held the Presidency.

bus was an excellent President, he just liked to spend and he was too nice. Perry doesn't like to spend.

It's the Texas legislature that doesn't like to spend. Perry is a glad-handing back-slapping politician who rewards his friends. I don't trust him at all.
