In the remarkable race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, it now appears to be a three-way contest among embattled frontrunner Herman Cain, one-time favorite Mitt Romney, and the surging Newt Gingrich.

Poll Position’s national scientific survey of Americans saying they plan to vote in the 2012 Republican primary or caucus was conducted Tuesday night as Cain found himself embroiled in a growing controversy over sexual allegations made against him by four women – allegations Cain emphatically denies as baseless.

The poll found
  24% backing Cain, (actually 24.4%)
  20% Romney,       (actually 19.5%)
  19% Gingrich,     (actually 19.0%)
  7% Rick Perry,
  6% Ron Paul,
  4% Michelle Bachmann,
  2% Jon Huntsman,
  3% someone else, and
  15% with no opinion.

...
These poll results reflect the views of 604 likely Republican primary voters with a margin of error of +/- 4%. The poll’s full crosstabs are below.

Much like what the government does with unemployment statistics, the following chart represents a 4-poll "rolling average" for the latest 20+ polls listed at RealClearPolitics.com (plus recent weekly national polls from YouGov).

I also weighted the polls by their size. For example, a poll with a survey size of 1000 was weighted proportionately heavier than an 324 survey size.

Weighted 4-Poll Rolling Averages of the latest 20+ Polls listed at RCP [as of Nov 9th]
plus "YouGov" 11/1, 10/25, 10/18 and 10/11 polls,
and Poll Position 11/8, and 11/1 polls inserted chronologically

(Example methodology for this chart is on my profile page)

Time for everyone below Newt to bail out. I don't see how a thrice-married serial adulterer takes the GOP nomination, but I guess it's not 1980 anymore.

Geeez. Slit your wrists right now, then.
Romney will likely lose, but even if he wins, “we” lose.

Not so with our conservative candidates.

We can win with conservatives!

Herman Cain’s view on illegal immigration is the best from a Presidential front runner in my lifetime. He’s been talking about how serious the problem is long before he was running for President, so you at least know he actually believes it’s a serious problem that needs to be fixed. That’s one of the main reasons I’m supporting him. Below is Cain’s position on illegal immigration taken from his website.

Fix the Immigration Problems

America is an exceptional nation. We are also a prosperous nation because of our liberties and our free market system. That’s why people from all over the world want to come to America to create better lives for themselves and their families, because we are truly the land of opportunity.

Americans have embraced their role as the world’s premier “melting pot,” welcoming immigrants from every corner of the planet. We readily learn about other cultures, customs and beliefs. We appreciate those who are willing to come to this country and make America a more vibrant and enriched place.

Americans do resent, however, the willingness of some to circumvent our laws and enter our nation illegally. While many, if not most, illegal immigrants are peaceful people simply seeking to provide for their families, some are not. In fact, some are quite dangerous, jeopardizing the safety and well-beingwellingwallingwebbingwillingweldingweltingwallowingwelshingWelbiewelkinwallopingWheelingwheelingwhelmingwhelpingwieldingWebernWeylinlobinglubingwalingwilingWelbie’slibbinglobbingvealingveilingvilleinwailingwhalingwhilingwarblingwobbling of American citizens.

Illegal immigration has only exacerbated illegal activity, such as the horrendous crimes of drug smuggling and human trafficking. Illegal immigrants who are repeat offenders are harder to track, making it difficult for law enforcement to prevent crime. Further, weak borders have caused a compounding problem of terrorists assimilating with illegal immigrants, crossing the border with them and entering the U.S.

Illegal immigration also puts a tremendous strain on America’s entitlement and health care systems. Illegal immigrants are typically uninsured and cannot afford to pay for their medical care, driving up costs for all Americans, even those actually insured. In fact, several hospitals in the U.S. have declared bankruptcy as a result of the costs of caring for illegal immigrants.

We must secure our borders, enforce our laws and promote the existing path to citizenship. Protecting our nation’s sovereignty should be a paramount concern of those elected to lead us, not an afterthought or a reaction once the problem becomes even worse. Further, taking a stand on the issue does not mean one lacks compassion, but instead, that one respects the rule of law and the importance of not becoming a lawless nation.

Those in control don’t WANT a conservative to win . Just look at what they are doing to Cain ? The checked pants elite of the RNC are also involved in my opinion . Cain would rock the boat bigtime - no way they want that .

They can’t maintain control if we don’t let them. Right now it’s in our hands. If we let the elites and the media determine our nominee then we might as well not bother. I refuse to play these games anymore.

Herman Cain is the front runner, and Conservatives shouldn't be allowing the liberal media to manipulate them into dropping their support for Cain, by convincing those Conservatives he isn't electable. It's what they did with Sarah Palin, and many started believing she couldn't be elected based on the liberal media. Herman Cain is the front runner, and has had increased donations every time he's been attacked, even before the latest smears. No Herman Cain supporter should let that support wane based on the liberal media who fear facing him in the general election. HERMAN CAIN FOR PRESIDENT 2012!

Yes, I realize that, but we have our votes and our hard work.

Cain is still ahead and he’s taking in money!

Romney is stuck in GOP-E 25% stupid.

That means 75% don’t want him!

Ron Paul had the fortitude to call it what it is..A dictatorship..It is here, folks..The vote in Ohio yesterday is a predictor of the future. The Unions rule and they have the money of the world in their stashes. The people are sheep being led to slaughter and those who see and know what is coming are very frightened. It will end sometime in the future after much bloodshed and extreme human misery..May God give the grace for good people to stand, regardless of the cruelties they will face. The Herman Cain case is a child’s preview of what is to come from the heartless and the Godless minions out there in the media. Just remember..We are in the midst of the biggest drug culture the world has ever seen..Drugs take away judgment first and they add a feeling of power and invincibility for the user..Look at the lies and the arrogance coming from your television everyday and then come to your own conclusions, folks.

The money and support is pouring in for Herman Cain, but we cannot slow down now. Please help him by donating at http://www.hermancain.com/

Also to help join the buzz about Herman go to facebook.com and “like” him. His “likes” have jumped dramatically since the attacks started. Make no mistake Sean Hannity’s BFF Tokyo Rove is watching Herman’s “likes” and so is Romney. THIS is the way to stick it to the GOP establishment! Please tell your family and friends to “like” Herman as well.
