Well the thread is about retirement wars and first you blamed babyboomers for electing LBJ and later blamed the youth vote going to Obama because of Bush. Well, this baby boomer was a little young when LBJ was elected so maybe you should blame that one on that Greatest Generation not going for Goldwater. As for Bush being so bad that the youth vote went to Obama, this sounds sort of like just another youthful excuse to avoid taking responsibility but I find it interesting. Was Bush not “compassionate conservativer enough to draw the youth vote for McCain? Or was he not “real” conservative enough to get young people to vote for McCain? Just trying to follow the logic. What exactly is it that you think Bush could have done to get more young people to vote for McCain instead of Obama?

I used to think that I should take it on the chin, losing SS & Medicare to support your generation.

Thanks.

I’ve seen the light.

They should be ended *now* and *immediately*. Boomers don’t deserve any of my money and need it less than I do.

Should, should, should...And all the money boomers paid to support the previous and current generation? Screw 'em, eh? Because YOU'VE decided boomers don't deserve something? Like that was ever a choice for boomers to just say screw it to their parents' generation? What does that say about your generation that whines about seeing the light when it comes their turn to get out and pull the cart? Come on, boomers were forced into the system no less than you were and you've now decided that they don't deserve their time to collect on what they've paid in all their life? Look, lots of us don't like the system but when a baby boomer president suggested private accounts, the younger generation turned up their nose and voted for Obama's vague hope and change. I'd say it was younger generations who might consider what they really "deserve" instead of whining in the park for more handouts. But the bottom line in all this is the system is unsustainable so changes have to happen. Rather than tyring to blame a single generation (and thereby alienating them and making them enemies), we might work toward reforming the system so it is sustainable. You're just not going to just end the present system because you ain't got the votes and you're not going to get the votes with so many now dependent. So it makes sense to work WITH boomers to try and create something that is less onerous and at least has a chance of being sustainable or you can just piss 'em off and lose their votes for any change and watch your payments go up and up and up (just like we boomers did).
