So here’s my fear.... an Iranian version of the Isreali strategy, with a twist. The Iranians will stockpile nukes - lots of them - and continue stockpiling them while proclaiming to the world that they have nothing, or deflecting the question, or using pleasant lies to cover it up. This would reflect what the Isrealis have done with their nukes, which they never talk about it and never display.
When the Iranians get a nice pile, however, they’ll use them, starting with Israel but not stopping there.

Good points. Agreed, Israeli nukes are the world’s worst kept secret.
If Israel attacked in any way, they will not succeed, but may possibly delay for a year or two, Iranian nukes.
However, if Israel attacks, they hand the Iranians a PR goldmine. Iran will then claim a right to build all the nukes they want for defensive purposes and take the high ground over Israel whom they would paint as regional bullies to all muslims.
