Gov. Patrick to pen new book with help

Deval Patrick is working on a new book — and he wants you to help write it.

The forthcoming publication will be about “the politics of conviction,” Patrick wrote in an email to supporters this afternoon.

“I want to highlight some of the shining examples of it across this Commonwealth and the country that are strengthening our communities and inspiring the next generation of citizens,” Patrick wrote. “If we believe that there is a different way to do things, if we want to see conviction matter more than convenience in our politics, we need to start making the case for it. We need to show people there’s a better way and that it works.”

Patrick is in New York City today shopping his book to publishers.

It will be the two-term governor’s second book.

Patrick was criticized when he landed the $1.35 million contract for his first book, “A Reason to Believe,” because he abandoned his battle to legalize casinos on the day lawmakers voted on his legislation in 2008 — instead leaving the state to shop for publishers.

“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart poked fun of the size of Patrick’s first book earlier this spring, asking if the 230-page biography would “get bigger when it gets older.”

I agree. Most politicians should be convicted.

When it comes to “conviction” - of the sort which should have occurred with Dead Ted and Bubba, I don’t think dim-bulb-crats need any help.

They - and their unions - wrote the book on how to be a felon without going to jail.

And - come CW-II - we intend to look further into this.

Should be titled “The Politics of Conniptions.”

If this guy had rubber pockets, he’d steal hot soup.

What a tool.

I hear William Ayer's is pretty good at that writing stuff, and he doesn't even take credit!

I wonder if any of those lovely illegals Patrick is sheltering are going to contribute to his book.

After all, they're indispensable.

“The forthcoming publication will be about ‘the politics of conviction’” . . . or, in the case of Gov. Deval Patrick, 25 years to life. Conviction is good, but hard time is much better.

Why isn’t his wife a registered lobbyist for the casino industry? She’s a partner at Ropes and Grey LLC. They are the only law firm in the USA that is a member of the American Gaming Association.
