(CBS/CNN) - A former Penn State football coach is out of jail on $100,000 bond.

Police arrested Jerry Sandusky over the weekend for allegedly sexually assaulting eight underage boys over a 15-year period.

Head coach Joe Paterno says he was told in 2002 about an alleged inappropriate incident involving Sandusky at a Penn State locker room shower.

Paterno alerted the school's athletic director. That athletic director and another school employee stepped down late Sunday night.

He’d probably be safer by staying *in* jail...

If he was pimping little boys for wealthy boosters, he’s not safe out of jail.

I watched the video and he was getting into the heads of the officers walking him along. Sandusky is evil. Who else is part of his cabal?

Children would be safer if he were in Jail till the trial.

Say what we want about criminals in jail, they do have standards and they hate child molesters.

Hope the Texas charges are filed. They’ll take care of him. Put him in general population in a Houston jail.

"... Say what we want about criminals in jail, they do have standards and they hate child molesters."

No they don't.

There's plenty of child molesters living happily in jail. They get along just fine.

This explains why the Megan's Law website in your area doesn't show a map of little tombstones where child molesters used to live before they were convicted and sent to prison to meet their deaths as you imagine, but instead currently live after being released from prison.

Isn’t sex with a 10 yr old a capital felony in PA? It is in Fl... no bond for this sicko. I read the grand jury report. Made me ill.

The inmate population tends to beat the heck out of them. So yes, they do. Especially when they are found out.

Is there a credible source for that accusation? If there is, name the “Wealthy Boosters” and the source. Somebody needs to call Madden out to produce his source or retract the story. You have taken rumors and represented them as facts when they won’t even source the story.

Assuming his guilt (haven't heard due process mentioned much in these threads .. remember that pesky 6th Amendment ?), Jerry's life expectancy following conviction will be brief.

Oh well . . .

Shanty, please re-read my post. The very first word is “IF”.

I have presented NOTHING as facts.

Only $100,000 bond?

I'm thinkin' this is his one big chance to save his so-called family a ton of time, loot and embarrassment. I wouldn't be surprised at the next set of headlines down the road.
