Thanks ObamaCare: Employer Insurance Continues to Decline

A new Gallup poll shows ObamaCare is working just as planned: kill the private health insurance industry in order to implement a single-payer government system. The number of people insured through employer provided health insurance continues to decline.

The percentage of American adults who get their health insurance from an employer continues to decline, falling to 44.5% in the third quarter of this year. This percentage has been steadily declining since Gallup and Healthways started tracking Americans' health insurance sources in 2008.

At least 45% of Americans got their health insurance from an employer in every month in 2010, compared with more than 46% in 2009 and more than 48% in 2008. Initially, the percentage reporting they have employer-based health insurance seemed to be decreasing as unemployment and underemployment increased. However, it is likely that other factors -- including fewer employers offering health insurance -- are also contributing to this trend.

The percentage of adults with no health insurance has been increasing in 2011, with the 17.3% who were uninsured last quarter statistically tying the second quarter of this year for the highest on record.

dirty little secret....a lot of employers are more than happy with this.

They have gotten sick and tired of skyrocketing premiums and insurance companies that slow-shuffle claims, all of which produce unhappy employees and result in blowback to the employer.

Nor to they want to continue to spend hours and hours shopping for and managing health plans. A lot of them are now openly saying “government, take it away...PLEASE!”

But the joke will be on them when they get their future tax bills.

I have medical insurance through my husband's retirement package,
I have been told by his employer that as of January, 2013, the retirees will no longer have medical coverage. And for the second year in a row my major medical deductible has increased.
What I will miss the most is my excellent drug coverage.

That prezidoodle sure is messing things up for everyone!

I get to keep my retirement insurance program, but the
cost will increase after the first of the year to $1265/mth.
Self and hubby only.

Of course employer paid health insurance will decline. There are less people in the workforce.

Anyone got a cowbell?

My COBRA is cheaper than my company’s health insurance.

The Obozo Health Care law does not apply to those elected officials in Congress who shoved it down our throats nor does it apply to their staff. If it did I'm certain it would not have become law. It is the same for inside Wall Street trading information, every Congress member has access to information prior to the public and many in Congress have made millions because of it. IT IS TIME THAT ALL US LAWS APPLY TO EVERYBODY EQUALLY, NO EXCEPTIONS! WE MUST END THE OLIGARCHY.

This may be according to plan. Design a doomed system to pave the way for single payer as the savior.

I've always argued that point too. No matter if it is healthcare or gun control, the laws should apply to all, maybe then, they would think twice before voting for such drivel. It is like my take on gun control, if they ban auto and semi-auto weapons for example, then that means the police and even military would be barred from having them as well even if it means the military would have to go back to the bolt action Springfield or Krag. Healthcare, the same, they should be bound by the same rules as us. Obonzo and his cronies in Congress and the Tsars all belong in jail for their actions.
