As veterans and their supporters march in downtown, police are distributing eviction notices to campers at Occupy Oakland. The move comes just one day after a man -- whose name has not been released by police -- was shot and killed after an apparent fight near the Occupy Oakland tent city. The mayor and other city leaders are also stepping up calls for the camp to disband.
6 p.m. Mayor releases statement about Occupy Oakland, says 'risk are too great'
Mayor Jean Quan has issued a statement following the police distribution of eviction notices to campers at Occupy Oakland. "Last night's tragic incident on the plaza has elevated concerns about the safety of the encampment and people who also use the space. The risks are too great and it is time for the encampment to end. Quan said there were also five other emergency calls for service in the area Thursday.
At 3:23 p.m. there was a call about a pedestrian hit by a vehicle at 14th Street and Broadway. The incident appeared to be unrelated to the Occupy Oakland incident. A young man was being pursued by downtown security and ran in front of a car and was hit. He sustained minor injuries and was transported by paramedics.
At 5:08 p.m. emergencycrews responded to 15th Street and Broadway for a pedestrian that was hit by an OPD squad car that appeared to be responding to the shooting. The man who was hit had nonlife threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics.

Oh come on, let them hang out there until the TB outbreak or something. lol.
Soon to be followed by “well, about that” letter
Dear Obama’s Occupy Oakland: GET ... The ... F#$% ... OUT!
Not to panic for lack of issues here, even if they clean out OCCUPY, the place is still crime riddled.. which speaks to who holds the reins at City Hall.
I guess the mindless DIM/LIBs are seeing their “protesters” as some sort of embarrassment now. Weren’t they embracing and egging-on these miscreants just a few days ago?
She’s a Communist.
One of the Occupuds shot and killed another Occupud, so Quan is going to kick them all out.
Precisely. Communist Mayor and I added those key words.
I believe by mid summer Obama’s OWS will have grown in size, will become much more violent and lead to many more deaths.
Just what the leftist and their leader want.
Arm your selves and ovoid them. Diseased, violent anarchist.
Could we send one of those eviction notices to the front door of the White House?
Popcorn for me, thanks!
Haven't had seen a decent riot in the last couple days, so this should be fun.
They will also get their new uniforms of brown color and military ranks.
WTF? THIS ought to be their "eviction notice"-->
Great. Now they’re getting free baths!
Hope it goes on for a long time and gets more bizarre and violent so even the people who dont pay attention will. Also warm up the cider for the first major snowstorm/blizzard to watch the Zuccotti tents collapse one after the other...will be must see, TV!!
May I suggest using your nightstick, Officer?
LOL. Yes, the “Green” solution. Definitely much better. And there are useful byproducts at the end, too. A win-win-win all the way around.
Things to do today;

They need to stay on a Wells Fargo owned property.
It’s their Official Bank.
Quan is better suited for delivering Kung Pao chicken with fried rice to my restaurant table or tailoring the hems in my pants for next day pickup.
Somebody is reading the polls. LOL
Quan’s husband is with the “Occupy” idiots and was one of the people who led the march that shut down the Port of Oakland a couple of weeks ago.
Good grief. That figures.
Depending on your time zone, at midnight Pacific Standard Time this Saturday (going into Sunday) the Portland Police Department is going to clear out Occupy Portland (OR).
The Occupiers have stated that they’re staying put. Should be interesting.
www.kgw.com (local NBC affiliate) will have live streaming footage on their website.
Pass the popcorn, and crack open a tall cold one.
Wait until elections next yr
'We can't hold elections amid this kind of chaos.'
