Poppy-burning group Muslims Against Crusades is banned...as members plan anti-Armistice Day protest

An extremist Muslim group who burned poppies have been formally banned by the state amid fears they were planning a 'Hell for Heroes' outrage today. Members of Muslims Against Crusades had pledged to interrupt today's Armistice Day two-minute silence with a 'surprise'. In response, Home Secretary Theresa May announced yesterday that MAC would be made a proscribed terrorist group.

This means that membership of the group, holding meetings or wearing clothing or 'articles' to show support for the organisation are now criminal offences punishable by up to ten years in jail. Last night police were poised to arrest any activists who ignored the ban, which was evoked under the Terrorism Act 2000.

There was an outcry last year when MAC fundamentalists torched poppies on Armistice Day, chanting 'British soldiers burn in hell' while the rest of Britain fell silent to honour the war dead.

Maybe we should we start a “Christians Against Jihad” group and set fire to the Saudi oil wells.

I don’t understand people who emigrate to a country and then want to change it into the place they left. I wish someone could explain it to me.

The answer is that they aren't emigrants, they're invaders. Immigrants want to become citizens of the country they moved to, invaders want to take over.

I agree with you. However, this group has violent tendencies and has clear links to actual terrorist groups.

Its one thing to say think the Brits should have got out of Ireland. Its another to have joined the IRA.

What are they being banned for? Burning poppies or actively supporting violent terrorists?

If it is the latter, then they should be in jail for the next 10 years or deported if they are not citizens (or even if they are naturalized citizens).

I can see making the poppy burning illegal. Illegality should cover acts, not thoughts. Thought crime is a slippery slope that in no time at all has gotten out of control and banning membership in a group is in that category. If that group engages in some kind of criminal conspiracy, then I am sure the UK already has laws on the books to deal with that. That is my whole problem with this.

Speaking of the IRA, I remember, as I imagine you do too, how ridiculous it was having voice-overs of that IRA spokesman on TV because he himself was banned.

I liked your idea better! The Westboro Baptists are simply a group of litigators who stir up trouble, then sue any reaction.
