The Rev. Talbert W. Swan II, Springfield branch president of the NAACP, Friday called for an independent investigation of the shooting death of 18-year-old Tahiem Goffe.
The teenager died of injuries inflicted by a gunshot wound in the wake of a Nov. 6 confrontation with police, who said Goffe was behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle when he attempted to run down an officer.
“The Springfield Branch NAACP is requesting an independent investigation to ensure that proper police procedures were employed and that the investigation will not be compromised,” Swan said Friday.

Goffe was shot by Springfield police early on the morning of Nov. 6, after authorities said he drove at Police Officer Matthew Benoit, who was on foot, striking Benoit and sending him airborne over the front corner of the vehicle and onto the pavement.
“The officer was able to fire a round at the oncoming car to possibly save his life,” Sgt. John M. Delaney said.

Let me guess, “Rev.”, He was just turning his life around, right?
I’d guess that proper procedure would have been to use full auto (like the perp was doing).
My guess is that the reverends “church” is little more than than a racial superiority racket masked by a few amens and a nice chorus. Does no one ever ask what they teach in these “churches?”
Obviously not Drivers Ed.
Everyone makes choices in their life. This young man choose to steal a car. He choose to run from the police. He choose to resist arrest. He choose to flee with the possibility of injuring or killing someone else. At every step he could have made another choice, and he would still be alive.

Holy smokes, just look at that look in “youngsters” eyes. The only thing he was ever going to turn around was a gun, to shoot you again.
You can tell from that look, he thinks he’d done nothing wrong and “the man” was just keeping him down.
Well Rev, I think the first thing that needs to be done as part of the investigation, would be running you over with a car so you can determine whether or not the police officer acted appropriately in trying to stop this clown from running him over.
If you Rev decide that getting run over by a car is no big deal, then they can proceed with your request.
It would appear that Goffe's attempt was moderately successful - he struck, but didn't kill the officer who "struck back."
Just a thought. Has anyone anywhere anytime ever heard the NAACP protesting or even commenting about the killing of a police officer? Maybe a Black police officer?

Rev. Swan is obviously from the Jackson-Sharpton “Theological Seminary.” Their key tenet, defending indefensible acts by members of their “congregation.” Now his “choir” will sing a chorus of “ I ain’t responsble fo’ nuttin” I do”

The longest war America has ever fought is the Dirty War, and it is not over. It has lasted more than 30 years so far and claimed more than 25 million victims. It has cost almost as many lives as the Vietnam War.
Yet the American news media do not want to talk about the Dirty
War, which remains between the lines and unreported. In fact, to
even suggest that the war exists is to be discredited and disbelieved. So let’s start suggesting, immediately. No matter how crime figures are massaged by those who want to acknowledge or dispute the existence of a Dirty War, there is nothing ambiguous about what the official statistics portray: for the past 30 years a
large segment of black America has waged a war of violent
retribution against White America. And the problem is getting worse, not better. In the past 20 years, violent crime has increased more than four times faster than the population. Young blacks (under 18) are more violent than previous generations and are 12 times more likely to be arrested for murder than young Whites.
According to the latest annual report on murder by the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, most interracial murders involve black
assailants and White victims, with blacks murdering whites at 18
times the rate that Whites murder blacks.
These breathtaking disparities began to emerge in the mid-1960’s,
when there was a sharp increase in black crime against Whites, an
upsurge which, not coincidentally, corresponds exactly with the
beginning of the decline of neighborhoods.
Over time, the cumulative effect has been staggering. Justice
Department and FBI statistics indicate that between 1964 and
1994 more than 25 million violent interracial crimes were
committed, overwhelmingly involving black offenders and White
victims, and more than 45,000 people were killed in interracial
murders.
By comparisons 58,000 Americans died in Vietnam, and 34,000
were killed in the Korean war.
When nonviolent crimes (burglary, larceny, car theft and personal
theft) are included, the cumulative totals become astounding. The
Bureau of Justice Statistics says 27 million nonviolent crimes were
committed in the US in 1992, and the survey found that 31 per cent
of the robberies involved black offenders and White victims (while
only 2 per cent in the reverse). When all the crime figures are
calculated, it appears that black Americans have committed at
least 170 million crimes against white Americans in the past 30
years. It is the great defining disaster of American life and
American ideals since World War II.
All these are facts, yet by simply writing this story, I will be deemed
a racist. Because certain people prefer to maintain a paternalistic
double-standard in it’s outlook of black America. And THAT is
racist!
