Opinion: The Case for Newt (and against Herman)
Jewish Journal ^ | 11/11/2011 | Sammy Levine

By now it is abundantly clear that Newt Gingrich is the best debater among the Republican Presidential Candidates. Some of Newt’s critics will grudgingly acquiesce to this fact, but still brush the legitimacy of the Gingrich candidacy aside, noting that he is an unserious candidate. However, Newt’s magnificent debating skills, his unmatched knowledge of American and political history, his tremendous command of the issues and his eloquent oratory skills should not be taken lightly

Which Newt are we supposed to be voting for?

Gingrich Backs Obamacare’s Individual Mandate Requiring Health Insurance (May 2011)

Nov 2011

In response to a follow-up question from Charles Krauthammer about whether he opposed the mandate as a matter of policy or constitutionality, Gingrich replied, “I believe that it is unconstitutional for the Congress to require you to buy something…because then the Congress could require you to do anything.”

“That great intellect and debating skills are essential for the next Republican nominee immediately renders Rick Perry and Herman Cain unelectable (of course, I would vote for both of them over Obama in a heartbeat).

I’m sorry, but I’ve never been a big fan of Herman Cain. Yes, he’s refreshing and bold, and has a great energy about him. But, I agree with Tucker Carlson, who recently said that Herman Cain is “not qualified” to be President. And this has nothing to do with the recent sexual assault allegations against him.

Herman Cain has made mistakes that, if a democrat had made in similar circumstances, would have been greeted with a unanimous uproar from the right, mocking the candidate as a joke. I’ll give a few examples: Cain’s not knowing what the Palestinian “right of return” was on Fox News Sunday was unacceptable. On Meet the Press, he admitted he was not familiar with the Neo-conservative movement. And did any of you catch the Gingrich/Cain debate a few nights ago on CSPAN? Cain was asked about “defined benefit plans” with regards to Medicare, and passed the question to Newt, as he clearly had no idea what the moderator was asking. Everyone laughed it off, but really? This is who conservatives want to be represented by in a Presidential election against Obama? Someone who makes Obama look like Henry Kissinger with regards to knowledge about international affairs?”

I would be more interested in hearing why any Conservative should ever trust Newt again rather then hearing yet more personal attacks directed at Cain.

For example, am I suppose to vote for the Newt who defended water-boarding last night or the one who was against it when Bush was President?

Which Cain are you voting for? the one that was supported by Rainbow Push and donated money to democrats (for personal and professional reasons) and is married to a democrat? or the one that now claims to be a conservative?

Or Cain...who didn’t know if Pakistan was our friend or foe? or who stated his 999 would remain in place UNLESS the politicians raised it?

You mean the Henry Kissinger who said he had talked to all the Candidates and only Cain was asking the right questions?

Tucker Carlson, who recently said that Herman Cain is “not qualified” to be President.

Cain might have other non-sex issues, but after obama, I NEVER want to hear complaints about ANYBODY "being unqualified".

Cain did very poorly on foreign affairs last night. Even Perry knew more

Really want to play this game?

Newt loses it.

He has too much political baggage. I have just given you 2 minutes work. Really want me to try dissecting Newt's record for you? So how about you try making a case FOR Newt rather then just recklessly attacking Cain?

Newt is indeed “the Devil”....
BUT, he is our devil...

Sending a PollyAnna to Washingtom D.C. is a mistake waiting to happen..

That is why.. Gingrich / G. Gordon Liddy(VeeP) is the dream team..
These guys would eat up the democrats like Nova/cream cheeze on a bagel..

True they might steal a few billion.. along the way... but thats being done now in the trillions..

Do you really think that a person who has employed thousands of people has no idea how medical insurance should work?

Really?

As for “qualified”, it was the intention of the founders of this country that there not be any professional politicians.

Did you not notice that the professional pols all had totally different opinions as to how to deal with Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Iran, etc.?

So much for the pro pol.

A good exec does exactly what Cain is suggesting....listen to experts in the particular field and pick the best ideas and discard the bad ideas. And for that, you need the common sense required to determine which is which.

As for being a good debater, Newt is the best. But by the same token there are hundreds if not thousands of university professors who could debate the same topics with equal style. But would you pick them for president?

We need a common sense guy in the oval office, something we have not had since Reagan.

Would you consider Reagan a professional politician? he served two terms. Cain did not know the answer and passed to Newt. His 999 now includes a 909 and NO there are many far left professors that would not do near as well as Newt. Newt is moving up because many Americans are listening and who would have thought he would be in the top tier? not Krauthammer or the msm. I would prefer a president that is more familiar with foreign policy since their primary duty is to serve as Commander in Chief and btw...their are many business men that know about insurance ...a dime a dozen

Yes, he’s an excellent debater, but he cannot be trusted an inch. All his political life he has said one thing and then proceeded to do another.

And it’s perfectly clear that that hasn’t changed one bit. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be appearing with Nancy Pelosi shilling for huge Global Warming taxes and fees. And he wouldn’t have shilled for Dede Scozzafava, a corrupt, pork guzzling, pro-abortion liberal.

We are at a point where we simply cannot afford another lying RINO, which is what Newt does, regardless of what he says.

I am glad that you understand the inner workings of Pakistan.

Now please explain to us who do not, exactly how it works and whether or not they are our friend.

You could start with the Osama drama.
