UP to 12 fighter-bombers are to be part of a massive security operation for President Barack Obama's visit to Darwin on Thursday.
Soldiers, federal and Territory police, and up to 500 US secret service agents will also keep the President safe.
The Australian Defence Department said the F/A-18 Hornets would be an ``important component'' of the security arrangements.
The President will lay a wreath at the USS Peary memorial in Darwin and talk to troops at the RAAF base.
A US official said: ``The President and Prime Minister Gillard together will address Australian troops in Darwin.'
No. Bush had the usual security, but nothing like the kind of over-the-top stuff Obama has.
Typical difference: When Obama FINALLY agreed to visit Normandy Beach during his visit to France, the whole place was shut down and cleared of all visitors. Then he went. When George Bush went to Normandy earlier, the tourists were all there. And Bush actually waited his turn in line with them to go to the porta-potty. Can anyone imagine Obama ever doing that? Inconceivable.
Seems to me, you go to Darwin to get the Darwin award. I doubt it would be too difficult for him. So here’s hoping.
Interesting - Obamalamadingdong goes to a navy memorial to talk to the air force - he should have gone to the ACT and give his chat at the ANZAC memorial. He’s not well liked down here. He’s considered a buffoon (politely stated).
Obama really thinks he will be attacked.
Only trouble is, conservatives don’t want a Commie martyr hanging over our heads.
Better to just remove him next year. Let his legacy as “worse than Carter” follow him through history.
They will need twice that many fighter jets to guard his wife...
Ohhhhh, don’t you know it Protest.
Keep this clown alive. Protect his sorry marxist ass cause if he’s offed all hell breaks loose and then Hillary gets her crown.
And obammy becomes kennedy II
