Israels New and Improved Ancient War Cry By Norma Zager
And the Walls Came a Tumbling Down from the story of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho.
In Aris last Postcard he discussed the new war facing Israel, coming battles that will require new methods, new strategies and new weapons for Israels survival.
This is all true were it not for one small caveat: Israel must return to its ancient battle strategy to defeat its enemies, or it will be lost forever.
I suppose at first glance this premise sounds a bit insane. Nuclear weapons will be aimed at Israeli cities, armies will invade them from seven fronts and the war will be swift and sure.
Even as the western world sleeps, Israels enemies will level the small patch of ground that is Israel and erase all evidence of a Jewish presence.
Ancient warfare and Sun Tzu be damned. This is a whole new world of war, utter destruction and devastation. Wasnt it even a Jew, Albert Einstein, who said, I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones? So what am I babbling about? Ancient methods? Before you judge my premise, please allow me to explain that they are in no way conflicted with the more modern tools of warfare, but actually an essential addition to their effectiveness.
According to the bible, and despite our enemies attempts to rewrite Jewish history, the Torah is Jewish history.
One biblical account describes the Israelites led by Joshua crossing the Jordan into Canaan and laying siege to the city of Jericho.
God told Joshua to march the Jewish people around the city once every day for six days and on the seventh to put priests carrying rams horns in front of the ark. The operative word here is also ark. Must we be so literal any understand perhaps this means the Torah in any form?
On the seventh pass they were instructed to blow the rams horns. He also ordered the people to be silent, perhaps prayerful, until he commanded them to shout their war cry on the seventh day during the seventh pass around the city.
At the appointed time the priests sounded their rams horns, and the Israelites shouted their war cry. The walls of the city collapsed, the Israelites charged straight in and end of story.
Who cares how true or perhaps a bit hyped this story may be? The real point here is not the battle, not Joshuas extraordinary warrior skills or even if the city of Jericho is in any way vital in the annuals of Jewish History.
Only three words matter in this story: WAR CRY and ARK.
Even the British, one of Israels greatest modern-day enemies, tell of a battle cry motto of the English kings: Dieu et mon droit, or God and my right.
Our new war cry must be: God and Israels Right to Exist on their own land.
And that Ladies and Gentlemen is why Israel and the Jewish people are in deep trouble as we speak.
It is not her enemies who are defeating her, but Israel herself who has lost her spiritual voice. Has forgotten her instructions from God, her Torah and how to conquer her enemies.
And that is the secret weapon Israel has dismissed.
Singing Gods praises, giving thanks for his blessings and voices raised to the heavens are the greatest weapon ever devised.
When Joshua won the battle, it was because the Lord told him to instruct his people to raise their voices in praise. What voices of praise are now raised in Israel?
Only voices of criticism, divisiveness, scorn, compromise, disregard for such abundant blessings. Is this a battle cry the Jewish people expect God to reward with renewed strength?
Does this inspire Him to fight for our cause?
In actual fact it diminishes our chances of success and our ability to overcome our enemies and obstacles and sets the Jewish people up for disaster.
Why have we learned nothing from our history?
Why are the Jewish people, who are supposedly so smart and wise, such utter fools? Gripe, complain, constantly remind God of their problems.
OY, enough already, He knows!
When we left Egypt, God showed us miracles. After each event voices were raised demanding more proof. More evidence. So challenges continued to be thrust upon us to make Gods point and receive His ultimate message.
At Mt. Sinai when Moses returned to find his people in the midst of egregious behavior once more, he had had it! He called on Israel to either live by Gods laws or die by them. Many died and those who were left alive did penance for forty years.
Why? Because until the people of Israel learned that it was only by thanking the Lord for His blessings, appreciating His gifts and praising Him in battle, could they end their suffering. No missiles can defeat Israel when the Lord is our shield. No countrys evil agenda can draw Jewish blood when God is protecting us.
This fact has been demonstrated over and over in our history. Seas have parted, walls have fallen and powerful modern armies destroyed by a small air force with God as its co-pilot.
Iran may continue to create evil weaponry to use against the world. It cannot succeed if the world remembers its greatest weapon, faith and thanksgiving for the blessings received.
Mankind is in decline because faith has been disregarded. Good works are no longer performed in Gods name and man has become selfish and all-ego (Edging God Out). This is a certain path to total annihilation and the surest way to anger and turn God away.
Just as the Jewish people marched around Jericho and raised their voices in praise causing the walls to fall; so shall fall the walls of our current enemies.
The Jewish people must stop criticizing, stop identifying with Israels enemies and give thanks for the blessings and gifts that are the Jewish State. Israels light can only be dimmed through the shouts of negativity that bring on the darkness.
March around the walls once more and shout praises and our enemies will crumble. Their weapons will be rendered useless, for we will have the greatest of all weapons on our side: the might of God.
When we finally remembered this spiritual truth, we survived as a people despite the constant attempts to eradicate us from the earth.
If we dig down and attach ourselves to our roots of faith once more, we shall overcome as in the past. Without the Jewish Secret Weapon Joshua used so effectively, our enemies may finally be victorious.
Remember the past and no weapon forged for our harm can be successful. That is unless we let Gods protective shield down and forget our WAR CRY once again.

And massacred every living soul, including the elderly, sick, women, children and babies.
Something to be proud of.
Something God told them to do. The land had to be cleansed. Disobey at your peril.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
Israel was told to do this, the land was to be theirs and Gods Law was theirs to follow. All traces of the existing paganism was to be wiped away to prevent its encroachment into Israel.
Yet, overall, Israel did not obey. And to this day pays for it.
Lastly, if you have a problem with what God told Israel to do, take it up with God.
Amen !! Brother.shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
I think the same thing applies to government.
Just think of all the trouble that would have been avoided if ALL the Clintonoids had been purged when the oval office was sanitized.
That's exactly what radical Islamists would say.
Hmm.. It sounds to me like you know what's better for the world than God does.
What's that like? Frustration? Boredom?
Well I call the annihilation of innocent Euro Jews in the '30's and '40's mass murder and a holocaust and I would would say the same for the innocent inhabitants of Jericho.
The Israelis of those times were no better than the Nazis or the radical Islamists of today.
Murder is murder and to claim that God told you to do it is totally insane.
We don't buy it from Islamists. Why would we buy it from any other religion?
I assume you believe God is a cosmic Saddam Hussein?
Nope. I believe that since God created everything, it is all His to do with as He chooses.
Life is only sacred because it belongs to Him.
Wow, and I thought Islamists were the only religious nutjobs..
I assume that if you believed you heard God tell you to kill someone (maybe a child) you'd do it?
I'd probably assume that I was crazy, since I'd also know that the seventh commandment is still in effect.
If you honestly don't know the difference between murder and war, you have more issues than can be solved on an anonymous forum, and I suggest you find some professional help.
If my view of the sacredness of life qualifies me to be a religious nutjob, tell me why, exactly, life is sacred, outside of God.
And who is your God? Your self? And why should we listen to you, you who are unable to create life on a barren world?
Who are you and who is your God that we should listen to you?
The only one of that city that was spared was a prostitute who gave shelter to the spies of Israel. Her and her family were spared, all who were with her at her home. She is even in the blood line of Jesus.
So, no, not ALL were killed.
If you don’t understand that the religious of that time and of that land were abominations with child sacrifice included, then you are not someone who speaks with knowledge.
Yet, the Israelites did not do all of what God commanded, and their religion was contaminated with falseness, and they still pay the price. And this very nation today practices those same abominations of child sacrifice.
Read the book.
Jericho didn't declare war on the Israelites.
It was a initiation or waging of a war of aggression by the Jews of the time and Senior Nazis were hung after the Nuremburg trials for the same thing - as would Joshua had he committed the same attrocities today.
The Israelis exterminated the inhabitants of Jericho and other cities in the area like the Germans did to the Jews.
Murder is murder. War is no excuse and neither is God..
The book that says "thou shall not kill" and to "love your enemies"?
Perhaps Israel's current problems can be traced to a failure to expel the Palestinians at the beginning?
As I said, if you have a problem with it, take it up with God.
Israel was/is His people.
It has EVERYTHING to do with it.
If you look at the 10 Commandments, and every moral and ethical standard found in civilized peoples (such as proscriptions against incest, bestiality, necrophilia, & homosexuality, and terrible torture, cannibalism, etc.) such practices were routine with the Canaanite peoples.
This is why Israel was indeed directly commanded (it’s in the Bible, you may want to actually read it....before railing against it) to annihilate the Canaanites. They ended up disobeying and intermarrying...and the majority of them later ended up being destroyed (the so-called “lost” tribes), with only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin (mainly) remaining. Some of those who destroyed northern Israel (and very nearly destroyed Judah) were the very same ethnic groups commanded earlier to be wiped out....
Because of blood-feuds and other traditions—annihilation (a lot like our bombing in WWII....) was normal, acceptable war-time practice in the ancient world. You killed all the people in conquering a land...or else any of their descendents would return (even hundreds of years later...see the book of Ruth in the bible) to annihilate your people.
Then is not now....and neither Jews nor Christians, since 3000 years ago, have been commanded to annihilate anyone—as the Torah commands against the Canaanites were very time-people-and-place specific.
Very UN-like the Jihadists, where the Koran gives general commands to “kill them wherever you find them.”
How has that been working for them?
We didn't initiate aggressive war and we only killed til the enemy surrendered and then we treated those who were alive with compassion.
So no moral equivalence with Joshua and Jericho.
there has never been any evidence of that..
And even if part of this has any validity, does that mean you also have to kill all the victims of torture and abuse - and all the small innocent children and babies? - and then blame it on God - the God of love, of mercy, of compassion, of all that is good?
Peddle your religious snake oil somewhere else, 'cause I ain't buying it.
So far so good.
Why the attitude?
Failure to do so led Israel in error - repeatedly.
Like someone has already posted to you, read the book.
God has not abandoned His people, nor will he ever do so.
So, the answer to your question is a matter of faith.
But you don’t sound like a man of faith, you sound like an atheist. And atheists have no room for faith, and therefore, fail to understand. To their own demise.
Unless He did. God has the right to decide who lives and who dies as He is God. Because some phonies try to say that God said this or God said that when He hasn't doesn't mean that He doesn't. You and I do not know why God would want a group of people killed but He did on several occasions and He is righteous in all of His ways. The Israelites were and are God's chosen people whom He ordained at times to speak to, giving commandments and instructions through His prophets.
Also, not everyone was killed. Rehab and her family were saved. She became part of Christ' genealogy.
Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.
Gen 6:9 These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man [and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with God.
Jos 6:17 And the city shall be accursed, [even] it, and all that [are] therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that [are] with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
“The Israelis of those times were no better than the Nazis or the radical Islamists of today.”
Do you already have one of those hipster tattoos around your neck?
If not you should get one soon, ‘cause after you have outlived your useful-infidel status, it will make it easier on you when YOUR JIHADI FRIENDS BEHEAD YOU.
“The book that says “thou shall not kill” and to “love your enemies”? “
No, the book that says “do not murder” but also “kill your enemy before and when you know he is coming to kill you”.
What hole did you crawl out of?
Such was warfare in general in the ancient world. Moreover, the Hebrews had sought the land for the institution of monotheism and, by the ¨theory¨ that God told to them create it there, the fact that the previous inhabitants were idoloters, pagans and child-sacrificers was good enough for them to move in.
Though, in point of fact, the Hebrews were actually somewhat lax in the application of this command, for, also in Joshua, there were yet Canaanites in the land whose practices remained sore points for the conquerors. Intermarriage seems to have also been quite common. Ruth, for example, was a Moabite who, as a convert to the Hebrew faith, was in the genealogical line to King David.
Got TORAH and my rams horn! Great article, Isaiah 54, No weapon formed against you shall prosper...
Conservatism is not the exclusive domain of the ignorant and uneduacted.
Wow, if ignorance is bliss, you must be one happy puppy.
“Conservatism is not the exclusive domain of the ignorant and uneduacted.”
Well, I ain’t never been “eduacted” so I’m glad I still qualify.
Add it to the FR lexicon!
The source for morality is the universalily accepted golden rule, although most religions (except for Christianity and Islam) have adopted the more effective negatively framed version of it:
Buddhism: Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful. (Udana-Varga 5:18)
Judaism: What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow man. That is the entire Law; all the rest is commentary. (Talmud, Shabbat 31a)
Hinduism: This is the sum of duty: Do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you. (Mahabharata 5:1517)
Confucianism: Surely it is the maxim of loving kindness: Do not unto others what you would not have them do to you. (Analects 15:23)
Zoroastrianism: That nature alone is good which refrains from doing unto another whatsoever is not god for itself.
Christianity's positively framed Golden Rule which proclaims: "All things whatsoever ye would that man should do to you, do ye even so to them; for this is the law and the prophets" (Matt 7:12). However, most of the Ten Commandments are framed in negatives, as all moral codes must be in order to be effective.
Islam: No one is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself. (Sunnah) This moral code is also a version of the positive Golden Rule. It is very ineffective and ambiguous.
