The Anti-Defamation League's original charter is simple, straightforward, and honorable:
The immediate object of the League is to stop, by appeals to reason and conscience and, if necessary, by appeals to law, the defamation of the Jewish people. Its ultimate purpose is to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike and to put an end forever to unjust and unfair discrimination against and ridicule of any sect or body of citizens.
Nowhere does this call for the ADL to shield Barack Obama from the consequences of his policies toward Israel and other allies of the United States. The "National Pledge for Unity on Israel," which the ADL cosponsored with the American Jewish Committee, is but the most recent example of how this organization has lost touch with the very reason for its existence.

As far as Abraham Foxman, the national director of the ADL is concerned, the function of the ADL is as a branch of the Democrat party, with Jews and Israel coming a distant second.
The ADL, like so many other organizations before it and since, has been co-opted by the left for leftist political purposes, leaving behind or even going against its original purpose.
For example, NOW supporting Bill Clinton, serial rapist. AARP, going against the interests of senior citizens to support the Democrat party.
Liberals and the left are truly experts at institutional subversion. And once in, they metastasize by bringing in liberal cronies, until they dominate the organization. Though the body is dead, the cancer survives.
The ADL is an embarrassment to all Jews.
I’m Jewish and it does not represent me or my interests. Neither does the AJC. Now the RJC does a good job of representing me.
