Police Move In on 'Occupy Portland' Campsite [Liberal Establishment moves to crush OWS dissent]

Police began moving in on a downtown park Sunday, where a few hundred Occupy Portland demonstrators have remained in defiance of an eviction order.

Police on loudspeakers warned that anyone who resisted risks arrest and "may also be subject to chemical agents and impact weapons." Demonstrators chanted "we are a peaceful protest."

Mayor Sam Adams had ordered the camp shut down last night, citing unhealthy conditions and the encampment's attraction of drug users and thieves.

The anti-Wall Street protesters and their supporters had flooded a city park area in Portland early Sunday in defiance of an eviction order while authorities in other cities stepped up pressure against demonstrators, arresting dozens of people...

"We stood up to state power," Oliver told The Associated Press, standing on a corner opposite the camp...

Around 4 a.m., dozens of police formed a line across from demonstrators...Other demonstrators used pallets and old furniture, wood debris and even a bicycle to set up two makeshift barricades on a street that runs through the encampment...

Officials said that one officer suffered minor injuries when he was hit by some kind of projectile in the leg. Police had prepared for a possible clash, warning that dozens of anarchists may be planning a confrontation with authorities. Officers seized pieces of cement blocks Friday, saying they were told some demonstrators had plans to use them as weapons against police. They said they believe some demonstrators were building ..shields and trying to collect gas masks...

The eviction notices come as officials across the country urged an end to similar gatherings in the wake of three deaths in different cities, including two by gunfire.

Demands for Oakland protesters to pack up increased after a man was shot and killed Thursday near the encampment site...

Now there's an idea...flood 'em.

Bring on the hoses.

Yep - KATU-TV covering this non-stop. Protestors just milling around like zombies right now. How much longer can this insanity continue?

That would be a great way to loosen up old asphalt before the repaving job starts.

The police really wussed out in some ways, but at least they started taking down the tents. I wish the local media would ask the easy questions “How do you afford that $800 iPad you’re carrying?” “Those glasses look very expensive.” “That’s a fancy phone you have there.”

Or the one I’ve been wondering “You realize that once you defy orders to leave, that you are instantly a non-peaceful assembly right?”

They’re now occupying Pioneer Courthouse Square.

The PPD wrapped this up pretty good, no major incidents (thus far).

So now the Occupiers are in Pioneer Courthouse Square, and it looks like it’s filling up. Maybe they’ll occupy that instead.

If the media was doing their jobs they would also be asking how much the disruptions, extra police, and clean up cost the public. Not holding my breath but suffice to say those who know will stay silent.

Us too. We want football. The announcers are being forced to stop coverage for football. Not to worry, they have provided alternate occupy streams. What a boring grind. They just keep talking and we want football. Btw Portland target no longer offers plastic bags due to a city ordinance. I plan on burning their paper bag to ensure we have dirtier air!

The state-run media isn’t allowed to ask those questions unless it is for a political purpose.
