Police began moving in on a downtown park Sunday, where a few hundred Occupy Portland demonstrators have remained in defiance of an eviction order.
Police on loudspeakers warned that anyone who resisted risks arrest and "may also be subject to chemical agents and impact weapons." Demonstrators chanted "we are a peaceful protest."
Mayor Sam Adams had ordered the camp shut down last night, citing unhealthy conditions and the encampment's attraction of drug users and thieves.
The anti-Wall Street protesters and their supporters had flooded a city park area in Portland early Sunday in defiance of an eviction order while authorities in other cities stepped up pressure against demonstrators, arresting dozens of people...
"We stood up to state power," Oliver told The Associated Press, standing on a corner opposite the camp...
Around 4 a.m., dozens of police formed a line across from demonstrators...Other demonstrators used pallets and old furniture, wood debris and even a bicycle to set up two makeshift barricades on a street that runs through the encampment...
Officials said that one officer suffered minor injuries when he was hit by some kind of projectile in the leg. Police had prepared for a possible clash, warning that dozens of anarchists may be planning a confrontation with authorities. Officers seized pieces of cement blocks Friday, saying they were told some demonstrators had plans to use them as weapons against police. They said they believe some demonstrators were building ..shields and trying to collect gas masks...
The eviction notices come as officials across the country urged an end to similar gatherings in the wake of three deaths in different cities, including two by gunfire.
Demands for Oakland protesters to pack up increased after a man was shot and killed Thursday near the encampment site...

Now there's an idea...flood 'em.
Bring on the hoses.
Well, they’re still there. There is your answer.
Cleans and sanitizes at the same time!
Yep - KATU-TV covering this non-stop. Protestors just milling around like zombies right now. How much longer can this insanity continue?
That would be a great way to loosen up old asphalt before the repaving job starts.
I’m watching KGW channel 8 in Portland live stream.
Looks like something’s getting ready to happen.

The police really wussed out in some ways, but at least they started taking down the tents. I wish the local media would ask the easy questions “How do you afford that $800 iPad you’re carrying?” “Those glasses look very expensive.” “That’s a fancy phone you have there.”
Or the one I’ve been wondering “You realize that once you defy orders to leave, that you are instantly a non-peaceful assembly right?”
They’re now occupying Pioneer Courthouse Square.
The PPD wrapped this up pretty good, no major incidents (thus far).
So now the Occupiers are in Pioneer Courthouse Square, and it looks like it’s filling up. Maybe they’ll occupy that instead.
If the media was doing their jobs they would also be asking how much the disruptions, extra police, and clean up cost the public. Not holding my breath but suffice to say those who know will stay silent.
These naive people are being exploited by Leftist cadres. It has always been so.
Us too. We want football. The announcers are being forced to stop coverage for football. Not to worry, they have provided alternate occupy streams. What a boring grind. They just keep talking and we want football. Btw Portland target no longer offers plastic bags due to a city ordinance. I plan on burning their paper bag to ensure we have dirtier air!
The state-run media isn’t allowed to ask those questions unless it is for a political purpose.
The July Revolution Of 1830. But no Citizen King is in sight for our brave revolutionaries!
Though he has the same name as one of the original supporters of the Boston tea party, Adams is no way cut from the same cloth. In one interview on CNN this p.m. he was apologetic as he could be about ordering police to take action saying he supports OWS, “social justice,” and that the police were not using rubber bullets or tear gas to displace the demonstrators. Of course, knowing that the police don’t really mean business has just strengthened the protesters and emboldens them.
Last time I was in Portland a couple of years ago, it was homeless and runaway heaven with the police leaving them alone to live on the stoops, beg, do drugs, soil the sidewalks and gutters, etc. How the people of Portland can stand to have what is a beautiful city continually subjected to the dregs of society and lazy bums occupy parks and downtown areas is beyond me. The OWS organizers had a ready group of supporters willing to take up signs and protest given the liberal tolerance already in place in the city.
Why did the liberal mayors oust the Occupier/scumbags this week?

Why have so many major cities turned on the Occupiers?
The liberal mayors/leaders of Oakland, Portland, New York City and other cities, this week have decided that the Occupier/scumbags are not welcome. Across the nation liberal mayors have sent in cops in their cities , to move the scumbags out of their encampments and tear down their encampments.
So what has happened and why this week?
Did the mayors finally wake and realized that these scumbags were not the 99% of he/she/its in white hats?
Did the merchants in the impacted areas finally convince the mayors that their businesses were being devastated and would not have a lot of sales tax $s to give to the cities due to their lost business?
Did the mayors finally listen to Public Health Doctors/Nurses and others that these encampments were huge germ/virus pools that could threaten large sections of the citys population not involved?
Did the daily rapes/murders/robberies/fights in the encampments finally wake up the mayors?
Did the mayors fear a massive backlash from independent and working democrat voters in their cities or even recalls?
There was probably a lot of the above and other factors that influenced the mayors.
How about another factor. Did the DNC run focus groups of working voters in those cities and find out that the Occupier scumbags in each city were probably costing the Democrats votes across the nation?
Well, something happened, and it probably was not a coincidence, that this week, the left wing mayors of these liberal cities across America, decided to take out the Occupier Garbage, human and infectious garbage.
