Well, at least you stopped being disgreeable! ;)

I’ve been here through several presidential election cycles and the issue has always been about coalescing around a conservative candidate.

The bottom line is there’s nothing that can be done to make that happen, if it’s going to happen. Sometimes the divisiouns remain until the nominee is picked; then the division becomes betweren those willing to vote for the nominee for the larger goal of defeating Obama and those unwilling to vote for the nominee.

Sure, it’s not wrong to make the argument. I’m just saying it’s counterproductive to argue that people should simply dismiss someone who’s high in the polls because you are of the opinion that he’s unelectable.

Everybody thinks they’re opinion is “reality.” That’s why we often say, “this is how I see it [i.e. reality].” But, again, at this point there’s just as much objective reality backing up the take that Cain can keep going and win.

We’ll know more shortly.

Well Obama was WORSHIPED by the elite and mainstream media.

Cain is ATTACKED by the Elite and mainstrem media.

The people have sided with the outside Washington candidate. Although Obama had been in Washington less than 2 years as a Senator.

Yes they both had a rise in their campaign. Think this is do to all the media and press attention to the candidate.

Obama spoke with Clarity. Cain speaks with Clarity.

Cain is the real deal.

1) He is a Stage 4 Cancer survivor. How come no one mentions this?

2) He got his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and did missile Ballistics for the U.S. Navy. Thus, he is a real rocket scientist.

3) Cain has held real jobs unlike Obama.

People TRUST Cain and DO NOT TRUST Newt, Romney and Obama.

"Vote for the most conservative candidate that you can get elected..."

That's not Newt Gingrich. I caught plenty of flak for saying this about Rick Perry while he was at the top of the polls, and I'm sure I'll catch some flak for pointing the same out about Gingrich now - but the fact is Newt Gingrich would not win a general election even against a wobbly Obama.

He cannot withstand a national vetting. His record (and I'm not even talking about the personal stuff, here) is unpalatable to conservatives. His spearheading of nearly every bit of the original free trade legislation in congress will make him a no-go with independents with whom the jobs/outsourcing situation is THE top issue. If the GOP-E thinks they're going to get Newt Gingrich into the Oval Office, they're tilting at windmills.

If electability is ALL you care about, principles and issues be damned, then vote for Romney. He's not anywhere near as comprimised as Gingrich in terms of his record, and frankly I think he'd govern more conservatively as well.

I know what the candidate is going to say - some version of “it’s not a problem!”

May well be true, but what interests me is how the base is regarding various things about the candidate’s record. Even more interesting is how the candidate’s supporters are viewing the record.
