NYT‘s Thomas Friedman Gives Obama High Marks For ‘Fulfilling Bush’s Foreign Policy’

The New York Times‘ Thomas Friedman told The McLaughlin Group host John McLaughlin that he gives President Barack Obama high marks… for following through on a certain previous president’s foreign policy plans.

Can you guess whose?

Said Friedman:

I’d give Obama high marks for fulfilling Bush’s foreign policy. I think he’s been very good at executing Bush’s foreign policy, particularly the war on terrorism. Been very focused. He’s I think brought power to bear in a very smart way. He’s gotten the people he needed getting. In terms of his own foreign policy, I’d agree with Mort. I think it’s TK. I think the issues that he’s taking on himself whether it was Arab-Israel diplomacy, or building a different relationship with China, still to be determined. I think the key thing here is leverage.

Obama ‘earned all his life’s accomplishments’ by leading from behind.

So what is new?

Oof! That’s gotta hurt! In fact, I’d encourage ALL the GOP candidates to get out in front and publicly thank Dumb0 for keeping 99% of George W. Bush’s anti-terror policies in place.

Let Dumb0 back-pedal from those!

Lol!!!

Yep, it’s Bush’s fault that Obama is continuing Bush’s foreign policy.

Bush’s fault, again?

Obama had free rein to establish ANY kind of foreign policy he wanted, and falls back on relying on the “Bush model”?

Where, in fact, is the part of his scheme that gives ANY credence to what Dubya was trying to do?

Leading from behind doesn’t strike me aa a Bush strategy, any more than dissing Israel.

Obama was following Bush’s strategy. Not closing Gitmo, continuing the wars, getting involved in Libya, drone strikes, etc.

He’s bring all the Iraqi troops home at once which I don’t think is something Bush would do.

For being anti-war and beign in favor of negotiations over any other action (even with terrorists), he is following Bush ideals more than his own apparently.

He’s I think brought power to bear in a very smart way.

Friedman is such a transparent propagandist.

In Friedman's constipated worldview, anything done by a Commie is, by definition, "smart", whereas anything done by a conservative or by a Republican is "insert your favorite pejorative here".

It's pretty much the same heavy-handed didactic technique used by the Commie writers of TV series such as Law and Order, West Wing, Harry's Law, and the like.

People who have well-developed critical thinking skills won't fall for it, but the typical New York Times reader (who doesn't know what to think about an issue until they've received the party line) just might get suckered...

Obama has also followed through on Bush’s domestic policy! It was during the Bush years that this downward spiral began with open bordersl NAFTA and huge spending!
