The clip was posted unedited by the Journal-Sentinel so I don’t know what context he thinks was missing. Is there some context that would explain why he needed the editorial board to remind him whether Obama is pro- or anti-Qaddafi? Because I’m thinking pretty much every one of our readers could nail that detail even on three hours’ sleep.
According to Andrew Rafferty of NBC News, “When I asked Cain if today’s Libya gaffe builds on idea he doesn’t have in depth knowledge of foreign policy, he simply said, ’999”. Not a joke.
I guess we’ll be okay as long as President Cain never gets a phone call at 3 a.m. The irony of today’s supergaffe is that I think it’ll do him much less harm among primary voters generally than the harassment charges have, even though his hair-raising vagueness on key foreign-policy details is much more certain than whether he did anything to his accusers. Only political junkies will see the Libya clip; thanks to Gloria Allred, everyone’s seen the Bialek presser. ABC’s out with a new poll tonight, in fact, showing Cain’s favorable rating now stands at 29/44, a steep drop from last month’s rating of 31/27. That’s a poll of adults, not of voters, but don’t forget that Rasmussen also found his favorables underwater at 37/51 in a poll of likely voters last week. I don’t know how he turns that around

Don't be ridiculous. Newt could take a 3AM phone call, questions from the WH Press Corp, and give a SOTU address all on 30 minutes' sleep without once having to ask an advisor for details.

Libya is an obscure country? I guess if one lives under a rock, maybe. How Cain would have handled the situation in Libya differently from Obama is a "gotcha" question? Lordy. Let's hope no one asks him if the Palestinians have a "right of return." Oh, wait ... never mind.

Um no, nice try though. Cain is principled and has the conservative interest at heart.
He didn't know that federal employees don't have collective bargaining, even though this issue has been at the top of the news for the last few months. That's not "thoughtful," but ignorant. We should expect that our nominee know such basic facts.
Why? It’s a valid question, and a proper response would require research with specific quotes and sound bites, which I am not prepared to do - don’t have the time and anyway there is nothing to be gained by doing so. But this why I said it.
The sexual misconduct allegations are an unknown factor at this point - we don’t know what’ll be the outcome of those, but right now they are hurting him badly with women voters.
He is not making enough progress gaining familiarity with foreign policy issues. There is already a critical mass of gaffes that voters will not forget - the other side will not allow them to forget.
He does not handle complex questions well, and my feeling now is it’s not because he is not prepared; it’s because he does not have the ability to, or if you prefer, it’s not his style to. By that I mean he is more the type to digest what he can, ask questions if he can’t digest it because he can’t understand it, and then make the decision. That’s all good, but if you ask WHY he made that decision, he can’t explain it properly. That is not going to sit well with voters. And I am giving him the benefit of the doubt - that he does indeed understand these issues and is not simply winging it - and I like the guy, a lot. Others are not going to be so forgiving.

You know, before I actually heard the term of “Right of Return” in regards to Israel/Palestine, I assumed it meant the right of the Jewish people to return to their Holy Land, not the Palestinians, and I assume MANY people thought the same as me, and probably some still haven’t figured out the apparent meaning.
As with Libya, Herman gave the correct response. It was good to take Ghadffi out, but what did we know of the Opposition forces? Sure, in the end we might get to the same result but with better understanding of who is actually taking over.
And at least Herman knows his US Geography, I’m still waiting for Obama to name those 7 extra states.
I’m also waiting for Obama to tell me the town in Kansas that lost 10,000 people in a tornado.

I’m also waiting for Obama to tell me, how his Uncle, a US Military Serviceman ended up with the Russian Army freeing a concentration camp.
I’m also waiting for Obama to tell me what a Navy Corps-man is.
Nah, but what do I know. Cain flubs some questions and you write him off, because you think he’ll stumble against the “greatest infallible orator of our time” LMFAO!
