A strong storm system that produced several suspected tornadoes hit the Southeast on Wednesday, damaging dozens of homes and buildings. At least 15 people were injured in Mississippi.
Suspected tornadoes were reported in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Four homes were damaged in western Alabama, about 60 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa. It was the worst bout of weather for that state since about 250 people were killed during a tornado outbreak in April. < SNIP >

I am in Auburn, about half a mile from the touchdown (maybe the only one we’ll get for the rest of the season). I have heard much damage in the area. Some houses are smoking due to downed lines. One person transported to EAMC, I think. No word on injuries. I and my family are fine. No damage whatsoever. We have power, but no cable.
Dang, tornadoes hit Tuscaloosa and Auburn in the same year. Hope everybody’s safe there.
Heh heh, as a Gator fan, I feel your pain this year.
We did have a touchdown quite near here. We’re fine. I have no word on others. Just scattered reports. This phone is our only connection to news. Y’all need to tell me what happened!
Thanks for the post. My friend was able to contact her son shortly after I posted this. Apparently there are windows blown out in the front of the high school. The fence around the baseball field is gone. Lots of damaged cars in the parking lot - at least one car is gone (Not sure if it got picked up, or just smashed under a tree). So glad this wasn’t any worse.
You know more than I do. I’ve stayed out of the way. We have lots of first responders and wanna-bees here. It could have been worse.
FYI, my house is brick, on the lee-side od a hill, and we have good, low, interior rooms. We’re as safe as humanly possible. Any more storms coming this way tonight? We still have no internet, phone, or cable.
Stay safe everyone!!
