The House of Representatives passed a measure Wednesday that would make a permit to carry a concealed firearm from one state valid in any state that allows citizens to carry concealed weapons. The vote was 272 to 154.
The National Rifle Association-backed measure had the backing of the vast majority of Republicans along with a coalition of pro-gun rights Democrats.
A matching bill has not been brought forward in the Democrat-led Senate. But gun rights advocates have previously nearly-successfully attempted to attach a similar measure to unrelated legislation.

The Democrats running the Senate are running scared on this.

The Obama administration, which has been reticent to weigh in on gun rights issues, declined to take a position on the bill despite calls from gun rights opponents for the president to issue a veto threat.'Present'?

It has no chance, of course, but at LEAST that’s not the Republican’s fault, that much, I guess can be said at this time.

‘Present’?
It is President Obama’s signature trademark, after all.

One of my issues with HR 822 is the following, as stated on the CBS website:
“The bill would not allow Americans to secure permits in another state for use in their home state.”
In other words, though I have a valid Utah CCW, I still can’t legally carry in CA.

The undertaker in the SZenate made it possible for the two-faced democrats to vote for this knowing Harry would kill it in the Senate. Same old same old

Incrementalism. One step at a time.
They didn’t get all these restrictions and such passed at once, either.

"House passes concealed carry gun bill" OLD NEWS - not "Breaking News"
I'm sorry but this was "Breaking News" back in '87.
September 17, 1787, to be exact.

good, I see no where in the 2nd that states can ban guns, tell us how many guns we can have etc.
When I have gone places where I do not know I like to take my gun but going to certain states is a problem due to checking which states has which laws.
Now the senate can take this bill and we’ll see where the senate comes out on this and if this does pass then where does bozo the clown and his socialist mob stand.

If you’re a resident of that state, you still have to obey that state’s laws. The bill won’t change that situation. What it says is if you visit California, California will have to recognize your CCW as valid - as long as you visit California. That’s the same elsewhere in the country.

In other words, though I have a valid Utah CCW, I still cant legally carry in CA. Not quite - it stops someone from going to another state to obtain a CCW permit for use in their home state.
If the issue is that you relocated, and more restrictive CA CCW laws are preventing you from obtaining a permit there - oh well.
Utah didn't kick you out did they?
