Webster City, Iowa (CNN) - As Newt Gingrich denies he was paid to lobby Republicans for mortgage giant Freddie Mac, fellow Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann on Wednesday challenged Gingrich's denial.
"Whether former Speaker Gingrich made $300,000 or whether he made $2 million, the point is that he took money to also influence senior Republicans to be favorable toward Fannie and Freddie," Bachmann said after a campaign event in Webster City, Iowa.

Being a member of Congress she may have information on how Newt was involved in consulting with Republicans in Congress, which I guess turns consulting into Lobbying.

So what? The guy at Sears is paid to influence me to buy a Kenmore. A lot of people hire sales people and consultants to sell a product or idea. Nothing illegal about it.

There is nothing dishonorable about being a lobbyist.
After all, the Constitution guarantees us the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. But when the grievance is that the government is giving mortgages to unqualified people, and Gingrich is supporting it, then criticism of him is valid.

Good analogy.
They hired Newt/his Consulting co to look into their dealings and, hopefully, then report good things about them.
Instead, He told them their debacle wouldn’t work - that it was “insane.”
Sometimes,, the consultant you hire tells you the truth - so you won’t end up in disaster. They didn’t take the advise - and it’s catching up with them.
