(CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will not release more Freddie Mac-related documents, according to campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond.
Though the contender for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination said Wednesday that his campaign would "do what they can" to release more information about payments he received as a consultant from the government-backed mortgage group, Hammond backtracked later in the evening.
When asked via email whether the campaign would release more Freddie Mac-related documents or if a fact sheet it released in the afternoon was the last word on the issue, Hammond responded to CNN, "last word."

I for one think this is a good move by Newt and his team.
If BO doesn't show his Birth Certificate, it makes it OK for Newt not to reveal to potential voters what he did for Freddie Mac for $1.6M. Was it consulting or lobbying?
Wonder how many other governmental agencies Newt has consulted for in DC since he left office in 1998. I would assume many that we haven't heard about and won't, since Newt's camp feels it is irrelevant to his aspirations to be POTUS.
One more bag added to the trolley.
Repeat after me: throwing a public tantrum when others don’t agree with one’s opinion is embarrassing to everyone, but particularly to the one throwing the tantrum.
Here's the problem: No matter what you do, the media will keep fanning the flames under this story; just as they have done w/Cain's trumped up sexual harassment charges and Perry's debate stumbles. As long as the press can propagandize they will do so; and, over time, repeated often enough, the lies become accepted by the masses and the poll numbers drop. The Left and the GOP insiders want Romney ...and between the two of them they monopolize the message.

it was not meant for you....I know that just wanted to post at the end...
Say no to pork and corporate welfare...
You can whine all you want and vote for a corporate welfare whore like Newt...go ahead waste your time. It is just the beginning of all the pork Newt has been sucking up.
Ahhh, here is Newt with his lips firmly attached to BIG PHARMA...good luck reinventing what he did here..and it it was no history lesson..
A $177k salary isn’t exactly a bribe!
There’s nothing to “come clean” about!!
Just dirt diggers making insinuations!
And they’re turning into the hallamrk of FR right now, sadly. Not enough Freepers shaming these circular firing squad agitprops.
Did I mention crude language? Yes, that's apparently your style as well.
I am stating facts... and the fact is you want pork.
Cain’s problems are fixable, Newt’s are not.
You force me to do this, it is time for an INTERVENTION

Newt should just stand firm and move on. The MSM will find some other item to try to smear him on by next week. Now that they have totally trashed Herman Cain they can concentrate on Gingrich.
Just think what would have happened if the MSM had spent as much time investigating Barry Soetoro.
I’m surprised that you’ve been here since 1997.
