Inquiry Grew Into Concerns of a Cover-Up (Sandusky Case: New Details Emerge)
NYT ^ | 11/16/2011 | Jo Becker

Posted on 11/17/2011 12:13:11 PM PST by mojito

A critical break in the investigation of Jerry Sandusky came via a posting on the Internet: a random mention that a Penn State football coach, years before, might have seen something ugly, but kept silent.

Investigators with the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office had by 2010 already come to the conclusion that Sandusky, the longtime defensive coordinator for Joe Paterno’s Nittany Lions, was a serial molester, according to two people with knowledge of the case. But what had started with a complaint of sexual assault from a high school freshman had grown to include another matter altogether: whether Penn State had acted to cover up Sandusky’s behavior, even crimes.

[....]

Officials at the Second Mile, the charity for at-risk children that Sandusky founded and that prosecutors say he used to target victims, reported that several years of the organization’s records were missing and had perhaps been stolen. The missing files, investigators worry, may limit their ability to determine if Sandusky used charity resources — expense accounts, travel, gifts — to recruit new victims, or even buy their silence, according to two people with knowledge of the case.

2nd mile, sandusky, joepa, and campus admin conspired together to pimp out young boys to wealthy pederasts to fund football, and other campus activities.

There that was easy to explain. The rest is just gathering the evidence, mainly by finding the weak link in the conspiracy circle. My top target would be the asst. AD or mcqueary himself (gives hime a path to redemption)

Sounds as though the speculation that Sandusky was operating a pedophile ring financed by donors to his “charity” may indeed be true if those records have been stolen and destroyed.

Everyone involved with this cover up should have their address changed from Penn State to State Pen.

When I saw it was New York Times I almost didn’t read it, but it actually is a pretty good roundup of where the case is now. More will be revealed, I have no doubt.

"A Pennsylvania State University professor claims climate-change denier Timothy Ball defamed him in an interview published by the Frontier Centre for Public Policy, a Winnipeg-based think tank.

Michael Mann, a professor in Penn State's meteorology department and director of the university's Earth Systems Science Center, claims that Ball defamed him when he said that Mann "should be in the State Pen, not Penn State," for his alleged role in the so-called climate gate email tussle. "

Somebody else attacked the State Penn first.

Three years of records missing?

Who destroyed them?

When were they destroyed?

Does anyone really believe Sandusky destroyed them?

Does anyone really believe he only used Second Mile resources to find boys for only three years?

The New York Times usually does a good job of writing about other organization’s homosexuals, deviants, and plagerist coverups. Not so much their own.

Making a small correction to your post as we need to start calling this what it REALLY is.

Sounds as though the speculation that Sandusky was operating a HOMOSEXUAL pedophile ring financed by donors to his “charity” may indeed be true if those records have been stolen and destroyed.

Those records were stolen to protect somebody other than Sandusky. The only question is who?

Still, for years, McQueary questioned why nothing more was done. Under the law, McQueary was obligated only to tell a superior at the university. It is the duty of university administrators to inform the police. Besides, as one investigator put it, “on that campus, telling Joe Paterno is like telling God.”

Missing files?

Then-University counsel Wendell Courtney saying he was never informed of the 1998 investigation? Joe Paterno saying he was never informed of the 1998 investigation?

This image of a relieved McQueary getting a chance to spill his guts to investigators in a remote parking lot about a secret he held for eight years (but shouldn't have held for an hour)?

And this:

“This was not the secret that they are trying to make out now,” one person involved in the inquiry said. “I know there were a number of college coaches that had heard the rumors. If all these people knew about it, how could Sandusky’s superiors not know?”

Quite an article.

Thankfully, our justice system is based upon the idea that you are innocent until proven guilty by reason of evidence.

Idiots like you apparently support the idea that we come up with a wild accusation, declare it as fact, and then search for evidence to support it. You’re an embarassment.

I read the Grand Jury’s report last night. It’s sickening. I’m not sure who knew what when from what the report contained, but it shows that AD Curley is a poor excuse for a human being as well.

The Second Mile non-profit----that Sandusky founded and apparently used to target victims-------reported that several years of the organization’s records were missing and had perhaps been stolen. The missing files may limit L/E's ability to determine if Sandusky used tax-exempt charity resources — expense accounts, travel, gifts — to recruit, or even buy victims' silence.................

This is so bogus----already the cover-up.

As the CIA says---they ALWAYS leave a paper trail. There are other ways to trace this.

Give me five minutes with the books and I'll show you how they did it.

Lynne M. Abraham, a lawyer for Second Mile...

She was the long-time Philadelphia District Attorney who tried to prevent prosecution of the union goons who beat Don Adams.

“Evidence of a cover-up is starting to be exposed”

Reminds me of peeling an onion. The layers are starting to pull back. I have the feeling this is going to get way more ugly than many of us thought initially.

This is the most thorough report I've yet seen, and tends to support the testimony of McQueary, as did my gut feeling. Some people on FR are going to find out just how complicated a criminal case can be, and why we have trials instead of lynchings. Many questions remain to be answered.

The article says that Sandusky favored white victims, whereas some previous reports say that most of the victims were black. Either way, they were already victims of the breakdown of the family in this country. There were no fathers around to protect them, or to model good behavior.
