LBJ brought us the Vietnam War and the Democratic left was highjacked by the liberal progressives

Yeah, LBJ was plenty "progressive".

Such a classy remark. You must be very proud of your intellectual capacity.

The only threat is from the media asking him questions.

Your willingness to dismiss credible threats made to a candidate is appalling. Even HuffPo is reporting that evidence of credible threats was presented to DHS, the Secret Service and a Congressional Panel. I support protection, regardless of the candidate.

I am astounded by the remarks by some here on FR. Apparently they are not committed to pursuing Conservative principles to effect change in the mindset of the greater population and are focused on petty differences instead. I would rather defeat a candidate on principle and win hearts and minds in the process - resulting in a genuine change to Conservative ideals, than to dismiss a candidate or make a mockery of the process as a whole. It is time for a lot of regulars on FR to reasess what the objective is, the churlish behavior is getting old.

I really think some “FReepers” would rejoice if Cain were killed. It’s very sad.

Any Freepers in particular you’d like to name, or are you just throwing it out there for fun?

You know, I really don’t have a problem if they aren’t for Cain as the nominee.

But this over zealous anger at DHS and Cain for some SS protection is really over the top.

I suppose the others haven’t been getting credible death threats or they would request protection too.

Geesh, I don’t understand the venom. In light of the black conservative that got beat up at a Tea Party you would think a few may understand the need for security. I guess not.

WHAT is the threat? I would be willing to bet Cain is playing the victim card again.

Candidates answering questions is part of the process. NOT a threat.

You kidding me? After HC went after OWS (Occutards on Wall Street) like that, and before that, after he went after the Islamofascists regarding Shariah Law? Believe me, I have some friends who monitored the Arab language press in the middle east, and they CAN NOT STAND THIS GUY. I do not rule out that there may well have been actionable intellgence from either abroad or within the US with respect to Islamist or other trouble-makers starting to consider causing some kind of trouble. At any rate, it is a most prudent rule, IMHO, at this time.

idiot

Whooooaa there Sport. Why the personal attack? You have nothing of substance to say? I said nothing against Cain. Hell, I didn't even say he shouldn't get protection. I just said I thought Sarah Palin should have been protected. Why does that drive you into Kindergarten-level personal insults?

All candidates get death threats, but I'm assuming that Herman Cain received something particular, or just the sheer volume he received made him feel he needed some protection. He's being attacked so viciously by the left, and establishment Republicans with lies it could drive an unstable person to act violent. It's just a ridiculous, and constant barrage of only negative articles and coverage on him when it comes to the left.

It's the same thing they did to Palin. They don't want Conservative women or blacks, especially ones outside the establishment, taken serious at all because they fear it cutting into their support. They are using the same tactics they did with Palin of trying to paint a picture of Cain in peoples minds of him being an unintelligent joke. I'm hoping Cain gets the nomination, and endorsement of Palin while it still matters. He's the real Conservative outsider with a good stance on the most important issues, including the most ignored with the illegal immigration issue, and Cain is exactly the type of new politician with Conservative views, who isn't a part of the establishment, that the TEA party Conservatives have supported.

Now we have a lot of those same people supporting a candidate who's been in politics since the 50’s, and just recently(2009) supported(along with the log cabin republicans) the extremely liberal Republican Dede Scozzafava over the Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman in a congressional special election in New York. While Gingrich was supporting this liberal, along with the establishment, Hoffman received endorsements from people like Sarah Palin and Fred Thompson. Hoffman was polling well, and was in contention in the race, and not some third party candidate with no chance either.

Dede Scozzafava was so liberal that no one can come up with a valid reason for supporting her. She made other RINO’s look like Hardcore Conservatives. Republicans would never be able to depend on her vote on any Conservative issue, and it was pointless and damaging, to Conservatism to support her. She was polling a distant third, and eventually dropped out of the race, and endorsed the democrat candidate in the race who went on to win. That wasn't a surprise to any Conservative who knew how liberal she was.

This was just a classic example of putting the Republican brand before Conservative principle. There are people who would support Obama if he was a Republican just because they want Republicans elected, because much of the establishment run the party like a company that has nothing to with principle, or Conservatism, but getting Republicans elected no matter how liberal they are.

I want Herman Cain to win because I believe he's right on the most important issues, and would show the liberal media, and establishment Republicans that they no longer have the power they have had for decades. I think it's clear their power has been reduced significantly, or Cain would have dropped out of the race a long time ago with poll numbers around 1%, but has it been reduced enough to stop Conservatives they put everything they can into destroying from being elected? Not if we don't let them, but it's going to take time to see how many Cain supporters let the attacks fire us up in support for him, or manipulate us into thinking negative about him, and his chances like they want us to. The only way they can destroy a guy like Cain is if Conservative Cain supporters stop supporting him, or campaigning, for him because they start to fall for the liberal plan to make us question his electability.

The Conservatives in talk radio who have talked very well about him lately should also keep it up. They can talk about the other candidates, but they shouldn't drop their positive talk of Cain. I think Rush Limbaugh's positive coverage of Cain was helping him a lot, and I don't think he should cut back on it too much, if any.

A Herman Cain victory would at the least show that Conservatives can get the guys they want elected, despite having career politicians pushed on us by the establishment Republicans, and the nonstop vicious attacks of the liberal media. We just can't let their attacks work by continuing our support of Herman Cain, and not allowing them to erode our morale, and enthusiasm for getting Cain in the White House. Everyone who supports him should do what they personally can to get Cain elected. Donate and\or volunteer for his campaign if you can. He will win it if we don't cave in, and do what we can to help him.

They don't understand that Perry has no chance of making a comeback because of his pro-illegal immigration stance. It's got too many facts backing it for them to lie enough to make any significant amount of Conservatives believe he's something he's not. He's not serious whatsoever about the issue, and he can't change that perception anytime soon.

Illegal immigration is a very big issue, and Perry has too much going against him on that issue. Nobody is going back to Perry no matter what happens to any other candidates support. Most people left Perry because of his Illegal immigration history, and would go to someone else before they would ever accept him again.

While I don't think Bachmann will come back I do think it's a small possibility unlike Perry, who I don't think has any chance whatsoever, because she is a real Conservative who's good on most of the issues. With that said I'm sticking with Herman Cain because I want a Conservative outsider, who we can nominate, sending a message to the liberal media, and establishment Republicans that they can't stop us with their vicious lies. I'm sticking with Cain until the end, and believe he has a very good chance at winning the nomination.

Listen up, noob. You got what was coming to you through your demonstration of sheer lack of comprehension. Palin never announced that she was running for president. That sets her apart from Cain regarding federal protection.

We already know the OWS movements are made up of mentally ill weirdo's who are taking craps and masturbating in public, and all kinds of disgusting stuff that is far from normal. Herman Cain has let his opinion on those unstable people known, and with the unpoportional radical leftist attacks against Cain would anyone really be surprised if one of those idiots tried something?

These Perry supporters need to realize it's over for him because of his illegal immigration history, and even the assassination of Herman Cain isn't going to help him win the nomination.
