First, RIP to both the Head and Assistant Head Coaches of OSU women’s college b-ball team.

Second, PRAYERS for those affected by this tragic accident.

Third, if my memory is correct, last season, my UConn women’s b-ball team played against the OSU team.

True...99% of those who follow college BB think that it began with Wooden, then Knight, the coach K...but in reality Hank Iba, defined the game post WW II.

During the point shaving scandals of the early 1950's when the game really suffered a black eye, Iba helped to restore interest and confidence.

Sadly, he's most remembered for the 1972 Olympic loss to the Russians..BTW..the IOC still has all the Silver Medals from that game..the USA tean refused to accept them..

BTW..welcome to FR, newbie..

It was 10 years and 10 months ago that a plane carrying 10 members of OSU men’s BB team, including the play by play announcer, crashed on take off leaving Denver after a game with Colorado.

As an OSU alumn, for this to happen twice is simply unbelievable.

Different aircraft, totally different situations, totally different causes, totally different victims.

The correlation is to people who choose to often fly small aircraft with psuedo-pro pilots, not to a basketball program.

Again, I don’t understand what you are trying to prove and why.

This is the second time in 10 years that OSU’s athletic program, specifically the basketball department, has suffered a tragic loss of key personnel, due to a plane crash. I am not asking for a national day of mourning. I am merely expressing the shock and sadness of the OSU community at having to go through another one of these tragedies that very few schools have had to experience.

FYI..story was just updated at cnnsi.com

The pilot was 82 years old..his wife..age 70 was the other passenger..doesn't say if she was rated as a pilot..but given that age..it's a good guess that medical problems probably caused the crash..

I'm not a pilot..don't know what the FAA medical requirements are for pilots over a certain age..annual physicals?

Not trying to prove anything. Your most recent post is on point.

I share in the sadness, and condolences for the victims and families.

The earlier post with the numerolgy about 10th month and 10 years was headed in a meaningless direction.

This hasn’t happened twice. Two different tragedies have happened to different people at different times in different places who happened to be flying on different kinds of airplanes going to different places for different reasons. And they worked or played for people associated with a college and/or basketball.

Don’t make it out to be more coincidental than it is merely tragic.

Well thank you for correcting me and getting me back on track. Good to know the thread police are watching our backs, keeping people from heading in meaningless directions.

I will be sure and forward your astute assessment on to ESPN, the OK news channels, and the entire OSU family.

Will be at the Iowa State/ Okla State FB game tonight. Will be praying for all of you folks from Okla State.
Woman's BB is a big thing at Iowa State; so we have a special sadness about this.
Our WBB coach Bill Fennelly is really devastated by this.

Oh. You’re one of those.

The media sensationalizes some hocus pocus aspect of the world and we’re all supposed to eat it up?

And anyone who has a different, rational perspective is a meanie “thread police?”

You don’t want to read responses, don’t read. You put your assesment out, others put theirs.

Deal.
