A Pause in the Tebow Argument

A Pause in the Tebow Argument

To enjoy the conclusion of Thursday night’s Broncos-Jets game, you did not have to buy into the legend of Tim Tebow or care one whit about his religion or politics or the ridiculousness of the Tebowing craze. You didn’t even have to hate the Jets or detest the word “Sanchize,” although that would be a plus. Even without all of that, it was possible to sit back and marvel at how preposterous Tebow’s winning touchdown drive was, after 54 minutes of acting as if he had stumbled into a football game for the first time and decided to play quarterback.

Of course, to enjoy the conclusion of Thursday night’s Broncos-Jets game, you had to watch the first 54 minutes of two teams acting as if they had stumbled into a football game for the first time. But the ending was sublime, unless you’re a Jets fan, in which case we fear for the safety of your television screen.

Tim Tebow adds a dimension that can't be readily explained.

Well, it's certainly not his passing game, that's for sure. That said, he has heart, and he certainly ran the option well.

I'm glad he won and all, being a Patriots fan, but Tebow has a LOT to prove before he can be considered an average NFL quarterback, let alone an elite one.

"Give Tebow a Percy Harvin, like he had at Florida, and he will become every bit as good as he was in college, he just needs some weapons around him."

He also needs a coach that believes in him. Fox hopes he fails and tries his best to get him to fail.
Don't forget Tebow is the poster boy (MAN) for the "Right To Life" movement. The doctor told his Mama she would die if she didn't abort him.
I love me some TEBOW

For those who claim all he has is luck, I go to the words of Thomas Jefferson: I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.

Fox hopes he fails and tries his best to get him to fail.

Yep, it reminds me of the movie "Major League", when the owner gets upset once the Indians started winning games.

darn it i wish he could pocket pass.

He has sort of a side arm slinging motion in his passing. Just a bit. A good QB coach can do some video taping sessions and work on his arm motion and follow through and improve his passing. Of that I'm certain. Just like running wind sprints will improve stamina. John Elway oughta step up and work with him.

Really good game, especially the 4Q. He tightens up his pass game, watch out.

After watching him, I thought, yeah, he could run on my Saints S if we played them in the SB, but we have Brees who knows how to win.

Except for that crappy pass he through for an interception in the end zone that cost them the Tampa win.

If a good throwing motion was the only prerequisite to being a good NFL quarterback, Ryan Leaf would be in the Hall of Fame.

Tebow has been lucky in many respects. One or two plays here and there and he could be 1-4 instead of 4-1 as a starter. But the bottom line is that he is 4-1.

If I had some eggs, I could make some bacon and eggs - if I had some bacon!

People can play "what if" all day long, and it wouldn't matter, because the only record Tebow actually has is 4-1.

They get a Checkmark under ‘Intangibles ‘ with him at the helm. Elway is definitely enjoying the ride..

Elway doesn't want him either.

I do wonder what will happen at the end of the season. If Denver makes the playoffs, do they still cut Tebow loose?

He prays so that he will be inspired, win or lose, to be the best he can be and cause his teammates to be the best they can be.

What no foxhole prayers?

That’s not a statue of Jesus at the bottom, it’s Willem Dafoe in ‘Platoon.’

Part of the "magic" is that Denver has been playing teams that seem to be hell-bent on self-destruction.

I love Tebow's attitude and approach, but he simply isn't a bona fide NFL quarterback despite the 4-1 record. Against the Chiefs last weekend, he completed 2 of 8 passes. That's a QB line for an entire NFL game?! You must be kidding.

Last night he was 9 of 20, and the Broncos had scored a grand total of 3 offensive points before that final drive . . . and this despite the fact that Denver started five of their offensive possessions on the Jets' side of midfield up to that point.

Like I said ... I love the guy for his principles and attitude, but he's "living on borrowed time" as an NFL quarterback.

close but not quite....the football field is his mission field. Tebow is playing football to fulfill the great commission.

I'm betting there will be lots of people still saying that, even if he takes the Broncos to the superbowl this year.

Tebow is a crappy QB by today’s NFL standards.

But he is a GREAT football player, and that is all he really needs to be right now.

Imagine how the media would be singing the praises of Tebow IF HE WERE A MUSLIM.

Imagine, for a moment, if after every touchdown he screamed “Praise to Allah!” or bowed to Mecca. He would be interviewed, respected, and loved.

He is a Christian, and so he is mocked.

Accident? I don’t think so.

I’m happy for Tebow...but all this game really shows is that Rex Ryan’s an overrated blowhard. The Jets KNEW what he was gonna do, and they still couldn’t stop it..defensive genius my tuckas...

I like Tebow and I’m tired of every talking head has-been or never-was talking trash about him and making him out to be a joke.

Why is it when a team runs the Wildcat, they’re offensive geniuses but Denver runs it full time and they’re running a “collegiate offense”?
