Ron Paul with Sean Hannity discussing the economy and the election. Paul talks about the lack of attention he receives, if he is not ignored altogether. Paul says he and his staff were "annoyed" by the fact that he only received 89 seconds to speak at the last Republican debate.

Paul warned his Republican colleagues in the Congress that they better keep their pledge to not raise taxes. He says if they do "capitulate" on taxes then people will make them pay.

"I have no intention of doing that," Paul says of a third-party run if he doesn't get the Republican nomination. However, when asked several times by Hannity to rule out an independent bid, he would not.

Gore could have won if he'd simply won his own state.

They touch on that and losing Clinton's state too.

That’s probably why he’s not ruling it out. If Romney is on the ticket, the GOP will be in real turmoil with the base, and Rep. Paul would have good reason to run as an independent.

Please walk me through this.... What would be his good reason to mount an inevitably losing independent run that would throw the country to four more years of 0bama and possibly three more Supreme Court appointments? If Ogabe ends up appointing a five justice majority you can forget about the America we used to know and love. It will be over at that point. Over.

If the GOP House agrees to raise taxes, he has said he wouldnt rule out a possible 3rd party run.

But if the GOP house does raise taxes, Ron Paul is the least of our issues. We likely wont win in 2012 anyway in that case. The party will be a mess. The libertarians will be mad. The conservatives will be mad. The fiscal conservatives will be mad. Only the moderates will be happy.

He’ll steal more votes from Obama than from the GOP.

Exactly....

The College Dolts have no place to go, hows that Hopey Changey workin' for them now, jobless living in Mom's basement.

Ron Paul on the other hand:
* Allows them to vote from someone who is anti-war / isolationist in foreign policy.
* Allows them to vote for someone who is Pro-Dope.

The Anti War Stoner vote goes to Paul instead of Oboingo...

So LIBERAL-tarian Paul is now trying to blackmail us into nominating him! No thanks. If it is not you, whomever we do nominate will shred Obama up and win anyway. With Paul as third candidate the GOP nominee wins by 8 points; without a third party he wins by 11 points.

"Are you trying to say here that only Paul can beat BHO?"

That's what I think.

Look at it this way: The Republicans cannot win by nominating a "moderate", which is another way of saying "liberal lite".

Ron Paul is the exact opposite of Obama and any other liberal, so he has the best position to articulate real differences between conservativism and liberalism.

If a RINO is nominated, we lose (again!).

When has Paul done that, he is not a conservative he is a libertarian.

"..whomever we do nominate will shred Obama.."

No, not just any GOP can win, only Ron Paul, who is a conservative, can win against Obama. Any RINO will lose.

That's just wierd.

All this time I was under the impression that conservativism was the opposite of liberalism (progressivism).

Not sure why you think he is a conservative. Libertarianism is more closely aligned to liberalism than conservatism.

Not sure why you think he is a conservative.

His adherance to the Constitution is enough for me.

A Constitutional approach to the size and scope of government, economic policy, foreign policy, etc, etc.

No other candidate is as consistently conservative.

FYI: Libertarianism is at the heart of conservatism.

Believe what you believe. You will learn soon enough.

RUN Paul is a Populist/Liberalterian. He is so far away from being a conservative that he makes some Democrats look conservative.

I hope he does jump to this stupidity. He would be lucky to get .5% of the vote when he does. So go for it Runner! Cuz just remember, the most important thing of all is acting out of spite!

Paul isn’t going to run Indy. He is going to keep the threat of running on the table to keep these spineless GOP bastards on task.

Libertarians care more about being Socially Liberal than they do about being Fiscally Conservative.

I don't think that's true for most. Not all of them are social liberals and a lot don't give a crap about social issues at all.

The 1980 LP POTUS candidate did run as a "low tax liberal" though.

In my view the most popular #1 issues for LP people and Paul people are

Taxes/Spending

Legalize Weed/End drug war

Bring troops home/non-interventionist foreign policy

With the latter too seems like a lot of them are fixated on that 1 issue alone (or both).

I’m saying he’s the only one running who fully honors the Constitution. I believe he COULD READILY beat Obummer and I believe his 1.5 trillion and 3-4 department cuts in year one of his administration are the only things that can PEACEFULLY restore the republic.

Unlike Perry, bet the old man could name the departments he wants to cut.

Oh yeah...

Right in the ten ring!

The U.S. Government, employs millions of bureaucrats, making them part of the biggest employer in the country. Lots of them don't like him. They have a stake in this. Or is it a conflict?
