In my wilder days I spent an evening partying with Dennis Rodman. The guy was bonkers.

Reminds me of the great old joke from 1980:

Q: Have you heard about Reagan's new anti-poverty program?
A: 50,000 teams in the NBA next year..

I could do without some of the racism in this thread.

and some of you fine “informed” citizens know that there in a LOCKOUT, not a Strike? right?

Calling these players “thugs” sight unseen, and some of the other comments in this thread feed the stupid stereotypes of conservatives being racists.

We need an NBA that “looks like America.”

Justice Department needs to go after them for racism. The make up of the league doesn’t reflect US demographics. De facto institutional racism.

The zoo is much more fun. And if costs a lit less than tickets to the NBA.

The only time the word “Strike” appears on this thread is your comments.

I never did like basketball. Now, I really think its a game for a racial minority that thinks themselves victims and a privileged class.

Every group needs a token.

As do I. The NBA can take a flying leap for all I care. Also, I don't like this "one and done" business they've screwed colleges with. Let those that obviously have no interest in college save the one year of playing go right out of high school.

And just why are they being locked out?

I don’t understand it...a player contracts with a team...the team agrees to pay said player for services rendered....why should a player have a claim on anything else, other than the wage they mutually agreed to with their employer?

Hold on a second. If they are playing basketball and doing so. Doesnt their one game compensation apply as a donation? If so for most of these players isnt that a illegal donation since it would be over the $30,800 limit?

Thugs for the Thug.

People always talk about "thugs" in the NBA, but college football is just as "thuggish" and people talk that sport as if it's the acme of Americanism. At least the NBA is honest about their professionalism. I'm not aware of any Jerry Sanduskys populating the league, either.
