I took this quiz, and I was 92% in favor of Rick Santorum for president, which surprised me. It's a short, twenty question quiz.
My question, we're going through all the candidates, will we give Santorum his day in the sun?
“Does he have a chance?” No
“Will Santorum surge?” No
Don’t know much about him but having watched the last few debates only - I thought he did great and wondered by he was at only 1 or 2%.
Why? No is incomplete.
Same here, I don’t know a lot, but isn’t this someone we should look into?
He was awesome at today’s debate. I was crying.
Santorum comes off as a poorly on TV. He just has zero “it” factor. Does not come off as a leader at all. I interviewed him in person for 20 minutes. Comes off better in person.
Santorum endorsed Specter, Newt endorsed Scozzafava, Perry endorsed, I think, Rudy? Any other lousy endorsements? Who has Romney, Cain, Bachman endorsed?
Doomberg came out on the bottom of my list, below Zer0.
1) his backing of Specter over Toomey in 2004
2) His continued support for earmarks.
3) His absorbtion into the Beltway culture
4) And the fact that he got his arse kicked in 2006 - as an incumbent.
We posted the same second. He was good today.
Lost his home state of Pennsylvania by like 18 points last time around. It really undermines his claim that he can win PA and rust belt states. He also just doesn’t come across well. I can’t put my finger on it, but I guess he just seems too uptight and not very presidential. Finally, Santorum is sort of known as big on social issues and this election will likely be far more about the economy.
Santorum is a good man, but I don’t think he is going to see a poll boomlet like Cain and Gingrich have. Actually, I’d be thrilled to have either Santorum or Bachmann is President, but I really don’t think they have any chance. For whatever reason, they just don’t project the presidential image I guess people are looking for.
Santorum is not my first choice for president. But my first 50 choices aren’t running for president. So I am strongly considering him. It’s laughable to dismiss Santorum and at the same time talk up one of the other candidates running. They all have serious shortcomings.
Can you dig up and post the you tube or equivalent? I’m just inquiring. I hadn’t considered him, but, the last day or so, he’s been popping up on my radar screen.
I think a surge might be happening.
True...but all candidates are showing their warts.
Is the Toomey thing the litmus test as opposed to, say, speaking out in favor of global warming?

Right now, he is positioning himself to be the running mate of Mitt Romney so that in case Romney gets the nomination, the frauds can come and tell us that we should support the ticket since the VP choice is that of a conservative.
Santorum is also acceptable to Karl Rove which makes him yet another crooked politician whose rhetoric is conservative but whose record is liberal.
Something is screwy with that survey. I changed some answers and it keeps putting Santorum at the top. Even changing some to liberal answers as an experiment. (I even changed answers to things like supporting Obamacare, etc and Santorum always ended up on top..)
I wonder if that site is owned by a certain campaign’s camp?

One reason he comes across poorly is that he’s trying to niche his way through Iowa by being THE MOST interested in social issues and has really been very snippy towards other GOP candidates who believe as he does but do not focus on the social issues as much.
That shows he is not a man for this season. This season is about removing the socialists from power (more than just economy, but related to the economy for sure). It is not a season to say nanny nanny boo boo I am MORE pro life than you you. And that’s kind of his campaign. Nice guy. Believes the right things. Not a man for today.
Yep, that poll is screwy. I just changed all the answers to ‘liberal’ answers and it still shows Santorum on top.

He would make a great VP. He would make a great President, too, but for some reason he just didn’t make it into the top tier. I like him a lot!!
Mine says I support Santorum by 92 percent. Michele Bachmann at 84 percent and Herman Cain by 82 percent. Newt Ginrige by 54 percent. Ricardo Perry is at 18 percent. Hillary Clinton is 16 percent. Can you imagine that Ricardo Perry and Hillary Clinton are practically the same. No wonder I can’t stand Perry and finally can say he is a true LIBERAL!!!!!

Setting other candidates aside, I tend to dismiss Santorum because I don’t think he really knows what this election cycle is about. But you are right, they all do have their problems.
I think Santorum was a good man. Karl Rove wrecked his career when he twisted his arm to endorse Arlen Specter. I think Rove and Bush told him to endorse Specter or else.
It was all downhill from there. I urged people at the time to support Santorum, because he was an excellent Senator with a good record. But the Specter endorsement finished him, and he never recovered.
Good work, Karl! How’d that work out?
Santorum was also my guy at 93%. I also disagreed with his support for Santorum, but at least he endorsed a Republican. Perry supported Al Gore! If the worst thing in Santorum’s history is supporting a Republican incumbent one time, then it is time to give him a chance seeing that I bet a lot of us here would agree with him on the issues more than we would any other candidate.
Interesting - I also showed Sen. Santorum in #1 at 88% and Mr. Cain at 60% (Mr. Gingrich is also in the 80%s). It doesn’t mean I am going to switch since it is too small a number of questions to actually portray the candidates.

If Santorum had a snowball’s, he would have moved up the ladder by now.

Well here were my results of that test..
Romney 83%
Newt 83%
Santorum 80%
Mmmm— and I still lean toward Cain at this point. Go figure!
FTR, I am calling BS on this metric - I just took it and it had Santorum as my top at 97 and Newt next at 96. Now that just makes no sense, since I put lower priorities on things I know Santorum would be high as a test.
I think there’s a Santorum connection to this thing. Besides, treating these issues as equally weighted questions is just not reality, and it doesn’t measure how effective we think candidates will be in achieving anything.
That’s why I’ve never thought too much of these check box surveys. They are somewhat informative, but really don’t translate to action and real life at all.
I really thought of that, and was going to post that concern. The bigger thought is, is Santorum a player we’re overlooking? Isn’t this what the primary process is for?
The problem is he could not win in his own state in 2006.
The accuracy of that poll is somewhat in question, when my results show Jeb Bush with a 9% higher rating than Herman Cain. It also shows Newt as my #1 pick (HAH!)at 84% with Santorum second, Palin 3rd.
I won’t say it’s rigged, but Jeb Bush rating above Bobby Jindal is also suspect, IMHO.
A HIGHLY questionable outcome.

More proof of the screwiness of that quiz is it said that Mitt Romney was my #2 candidate after Santorum.
None of them have a chance as long as the infighting continues...You know that’s what the plan was from the beginning. Time is short.
Santorum couldn’t get re-elected in his own state. He has no chance of winning a national election.
After seeing your response and mine and some others, I am more and more convinced the poll is BS from the get go.
Every debate he's seemed like someone hopped up, ready to explode. Just way over the top. IMHO
