DES MOINES, Iowa A gathering of religious conservatives in Iowa Saturday night turned into one of the most emotional moments of the 2012 primary season when two presidential candidates Herman Cain and Rick Santorum both fought back tears while telling personal stories about the most challenging moments in their lives.
Cain, whose wife, Gloria, was in the audience, spoke about being diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in 2006, stopping several times during his re-telling of the story to compose himself.
I can do this, Cain said he told his wife moments after getting the cancer diagnosis from his doctor. She said we.
Fellow candidate Rick Perry, who was seated next to Cain at the forum, which is sponsored by the Christian conservative organization The Family Leader, reached over and touched Cain on the shoulder, consoling him.

Gotta like the guy. Looks like Mittens was AWOL at a social conservative forum.
ummm not hardly. But you keep dreaming there s40.
God-fearing, compassionate human beings on our side. Godless, heartless automaton in the White House. The choice is clear. But where was Mittens?
A pro-abort Mitt would not have had a good night so he ducked it.
No sense in criticizing Romney. Unlike the other candidates he had to be in New Hampshire...or to match socks...or the dog ate his schedule...or something...
Where can we find this debate for online viewing. I know the MSM won’t be covering it, and I would really love to see it, even if after the fact!
All he did was post an article. Is there anything wrong with it? There wasn’t even any commentary.
What’s that supposed to mean?
Thanksgiving Family Forum
Her comment has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. She’s carried her rabid hatred for me from another thread into this thread.
She has stalked me before.
It looks like they were both likely wary of the Pastor Jeffress style questioning / accusations they would likely have received at the largely evangelical gathering. The forum is being held at a fundamentalist evangelical Megachurch.
“Mormons Romney, Huntsman Skip Religious Right Forum”
I know she backed off once. She called me a liar and I challenged her to provide just one example of when I have lied. Her response was to tell other Perry supporters that she was officially ignoring me. It was a cowardly way to handle the challenge but it was all she had. Like I said, kooks will be kooks.
Thank you both for the link!
Thanks for posting.
This link should work for the full debate video...
A pleasure sir!
Her Candidate isn’t doing well in general, and is doing poorly in the debates in particular.
She followed the original poster to this thread from another thread.
Thanks for the link....will watch it tomorrow.
The introduction of the candidates and the actual debate/forum start at about the 37:00 mark.
This is AMAZING! Thank you so much.
Honestly, I think these guys (and Michelle) are starting to like each other. They really seem to be bonding up there.
I’ve never seen anything like this in my lifetime. I’m beginning to feel good about the future of our country again.
Well anyway, we're not worried about your Milt Rominy however. He's been running for president for several years now and cannot get above a low percentage of acceptance. You certainly aren't piling up any positives for the rino either, just Mormonism negatives.
Did you read the comments on that page? That’s the kind of mentality we’ll have to contend with in ‘12 :-(
The people are not stupid. They can smell a RAT.
Cain and Santorum, both really good men!
If anyone wants to hear an interview Santorum did with Mark Levin, on Friday, you can download it on MarkLevinShow.com - it’s in the last half hour.
I noticed that in the previous televised debate. Could it be that all candidates have agreed to refrain attacking each other? If so, that is a smart move.
I thought everyone did well in this forum - to me some appeared a little more sincere than others, but all in all I felt you got a glimpse of the heart of the candidates.
I agree. But forums tend to be that way. I can’t say I missed Mutt.
LOL, me either!
This was an amazing intimate debate. I highly recommend it if you have not seen it. I gained respect for all of them as very decent people.
Definitely. There were some very moving moments. This was the first time I’ve ever cried during a debate. (and I’ve watched al gore debate...)
More likely they could not have been truthful with their answers without blowing a hole in their smokescreen.
The Tenth Amendment question in the Family Forum reminded me of something Rick Santorum said awhile back BEFORE this Thanksgiving Family Forum:
Rick Santorum: I have been a long-time advocate for states rights. However, I believe as Abraham Lincoln did - that states dont have the rights to legalize moral wrongs.
Thanks.. Just watched the entire debate. It was great!
No wonder why the slimes the MSM and Press are not talking about it.
The only loser in this debate was Mitt Romney for not being there.
Everyone did a great job.
There were moments of TMI. Especially with Santorum.
I thought the headline read sounding like “tare up” rather than “tier up”.
He had to drive his dog to the airport.
Go Cain !
THank you all for the posts and the links. Will watch later this evening.
Just another PING to keep this thread alive. People, this cannot get enough exposure!
It was a gathering of religious Conservatives. Not a gathering of Democrats masquerading as Republicans. Did you expect Rommney to be there?
