Aides: 'Super Committee' likely to announce failure to reach debt deal By Lisa Desjardins and Kate Bolduan, CNN
Washington (CNN) -- Members of the "super committee" charged with coming up with $1.2 trillion in budget cuts are focused on how to announce failure to reach a deal, Democratic and Republican aides confirmed to CNN Sunday.
While aides said no final decision had been made, they acknowledged that -- barring an unforeseen development -- an announcement of no deal is the most likely scenario.
Talks on trying to reach a deficit reduction agreement are essentially over and discussions are focused on a Monday announcement, a senior Democratic aide said.
Another senior Democratic source said, "No decisions or agreement has been reached concerning any announcement or how this will end. But, yes, the likely outcome is no agreement will be reached." A Republican aide said, "I don't think they've decided when they will do it."

“and hopefull, dumped by the GOP caucuses after the next election..”
Yep, we need to drum them out at the grass roots level. It’s the only hope!
This is not legislating. This is arisocracy in the guise of legislating.
You - nail - head.
“Those in DC are addicted to their perks and power and theyll do anything to keep it. And that includes having cocktails together every evening and discussing ways to hang onto office.”
FRiend, it’s only submissive Republicans that do that. Dims (like Stupak) are good soldiers and will fall on their sword if needed.
The real failure will be if they now back out of the mandated cuts. With that out of the way, they can focus on the real problem that has to be solved - putting Americans back to work to enable them to pay taxes and buy things and restore the economy to what it once was. Make here, make now.
A planned circus from the get-go for the amusement of the masses.
Although I doubt more than 40% of the masses understand the implications.
Kick the can.
If the supercommittee fails, it will be DISASTER! Can you imagine the debt now that will pile up? Now, instead of piling up $50 Trillion in debt in the next 10 years, we’re gonna... are you sitting down? we’re gonna pile up $51.2 Trillion in debt!!
Right-on!
Now, our military is about to be utterly decimated (even according to long time Democrat and current SECDEF, Leon Panetta).
Guess what was "off the table" from minute the Joint Resolution Committee was formed? Every give away program that Democrats worship. Every hand out program that buys the votes of the greedy, immoral boobs who sell their soul to the Democrats.
Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (for people who don't pay Federal taxes!, Earned Income Tax Credit (for people who don't pay Federal taxes!), Social Security, Social Security Disability payments, Unemployment Insurance, Medicare, Head Start, SSI--Supplemental Security Income, Welfare/Public Assistance (all 62 programs!), Government Subsidized Housing (Section 8 for "Holder's People"), Food Stamps (SNAP EBT cards), and more.
The Republicans should have simply never raised the Debt Ceiling. They went into this "Super Committee" as losers. The Democrats didn't care if it failed - because entitlement programs to the immoral Americans who take other peoples money hand over fist got theirs.
The cuts will mean nothing. They don’t happen until at least 2013, they’ll just scuttle the sequestrations. They’re congress. They won’t be locked in stone.
Defense can handle it. What must come must be done. If that’s the only way we can get at socialist grifters, er, entitlements, so be it.
The House is suppose to make budget legislation, not hand it off to a secret committee!
You don't understand.
Defense is already reeling from $350 Billion in real cuts. Thousands of people have lost their jobs already. Officers and enlisted have been let go. Contracts have been terminated.
If this disaster strikes the Dept of Defense, the knife across the throat starts slashing even more now, today.
I am convinced that all of this is orchestrated by something very sinister. Something very evil.
Our military will be wrecked. Literally.
I’m still betting Republicans will cave and agree to tax increases immediately and imaginary cuts 10 years from now.
