Herman Cain was the winner of a statewide presidential straw poll announced Saturday of all Missouri Tea Party members.

With 995 total votes counted statewide, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich were virtually tied for second at 28 percent of the vote each.

Poll totals were: Herman Cain, 320 (32 percent); Ron Paul, 282 (28 percent); Newt Gingrich, 276 (28 percent); Mitt Romney, 32 (3 percent); Michele Bachmann, 31 (3 percent); Rick Perry, 30 (3 percent); Rick Santorum, 13 (1 percent); Others, 2 percent.

Philip Todd said the one-week poll was conducted between Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 throughout Missouri.

James Holland, a Callaway County Patriot Tea Party leader, said he was not surprised by the results or by the fact that Romney, a consistent front runner in many nationwide presidential polls, had only 3 percent of the vote in the statewide poll of Tea Party members.

If Cain is told to politically go to the back of the bus I hope he decides to start up a nationwide agenda of getting Constitution loyalists to sign up, to show our numbers.

America may need a nationwide militia to clean up this complete and total corruption of Washington.

The only thing that makes sense to me is the powers that be figure mittens will be the last man standing. He still can’t beat Obozo.

Que the “Cain is leading in another poll!?” excuses:

“Its an old poll”
“It was done before the allegations of misconduct”
“It was done before the effects of the conduct started affecting him in the polls”
“Some of the early polling was done well before the effects of...”

This is a shot; in the Republican foot, IMHO. But 'why ask why?' is my take.

Nothing against Herman; save his lack of experience - and knowledge, for that matter - (we do not have time for in-office training/education) and for his not handling well, the attempts by Opposition to bring scandal to his door. (Do not ascribe guilt here; just did not like his answers per 'handling'.)

Mostly; again; he is a Presidential 'rookie'. And want the best/brightest and most experienced, in these most critical times.

Mitt Romney cannot pretend to have any TEA Party support, the conservative base is not going to even give him tepid support. If he is the nominee he can’t win.
