Posted on 11/21/2011 1:50:35 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife
PRINCETON, NJ -- Republicans are most likely to name Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich as their first choice for their party's 2012 presidential nomination, with Herman Cain close behind. Among all Republicans nationwide, Romney is the choice of 20% and Gingrich 19%. Among Republican registered voters, Gingrich is at 22% and Romney at 21%.
With the first official nominating contest, the Iowa caucuses, now just six weeks away, there is no clear national front-runner for the Republican nomination....

Republican Caucus Power Rankings for 11/21/11 .[Romney] ..Even if these efforts only help to lock in that low 20% support, it could be enough for a win on caucus night if the rest of the field remains splintered. .Also, Paul benefits to the extent that the not-Romney caucus-goers do not coalesce around a single candidate. ..
The History of Newt - Are Republicans ready to look past his transgressions?
Believe it or not, his press secretary
insists Gingrich has gotten a grip on himself
tHE rAT PARTY AND THE rAT MEDIA ARE TERRIFIED OF cAIN.
Slick Willard and Naughty Newtie... RINO double fail.
I can't stand either RINO Newtie or Mitchie baby.
Flame away I won't answer. If you are dumb enough to support either you are beyond my help.
No, we’re not screwed.
No Romney. No Perry. No Gingrich. No RINOS.
If these two RINO boobs are the best we can come up with then maybe we don’t deserve to win anything.
More and more, I’m half expecting a deadlocked convention that only Sarah Palin can unite after she is drafted.
The GOP establishment will demand their own way, the anti-establishment delegates (for Cain, Paul, et al) will NOT go along, and Slick Willard will get the same kind of reception that Rockefeller did at the Cow Palace in ‘64.
Mitt-Witt needs to step down in memory of his brainwashed Daddy NOW.
Both guys are unacceptable.
To misquote the immortal LBJ—it’s actualy BETTER to have them OUTSIDE our tent, pi**ing in, that it is to have the two of them INSIDE the tent—but ALSO pi**ing inside our tent.
yep... We are...
If we allow the socialist M’er F’ers in both parties to “give” us a “selection” of socialist GOP’ers or Socialist Dem.
Honestly though, were F’ed anyway until we realize that the states are the route to freedom and nothing will get done via the federal government. Even if we win both branches and select all of the third.
I PROMISE THE GOP, I WILL STAY HOME IF MY CHOICE IS EITHER ONE OF THESE F’ing DOUCHE BAGS.
Good grief! Who is acceptable? This is exactly what's wrong with this GOP. It's a big embarrassing food fight. Now they're turning on Newt. We are looking like a bunch of nincompoops who can't make a decision to save our souls.
So long as we nominate Herman Cain. The rest are RINO trash.
WE are not the problem. The execrable platoon of RINOs are the problem. I’m for Cain.
Here's that broken record again. How much more time do conservatives need to find a champion? Who were those defeated champions of 2008? 2004? 2000? 1996? 1992? 1988? Reagan ran 3 times before winning the nomination.
One thing that would help is if Bachmann would take one for the team, and throw her support *somewhere*.
Perry’s exit would help as well, but he retains enough fund raising capacity so he has more incentive to hold on hoping that he is the last “conservative” standing.
When you write stuff like that (along with the rest of your cutting comments on this forum) you appear to be a poster intent on causing division.
It's not debate; it's not giving a strong defense; you just tear down and insult.
We don't have the luxury of time.
They’re pushing Slick Willard hard. In their own poll, he doesn’t top 30%!
We don't? It sounds like conservatives have been waiting since 1988. So we need another 23 years to find a "true" conservative who measures up? This is why we go through these tantrums every 4 years.
Conservatives weren’t enthusiastic about McCain. And they despise Romney. The people who matter, the party has a difficult time attracting them to a candidate they can’t see themselves voting for. The comfort level isn’t there.
Conservatives despised McCain and even turned to Romney in the end in 2008 to try and stop McCain (at least on FR). There's never a "comfort level" with anybody. Face it, we're all a bunch of stray cats and no attempt to "herd us" is going to bring about any "comfort level" with anyone. ;-)
I'm serious, why are you selective in how you condemn a candidate, while over looking not only Cains very questionable past, including his gross inexperience and poor understanding of fundamental Government?
Iowa and NH will weed out all but the top four.
Then we in SC will,as usual, pick the one who will win the nomination—AND IT AIN”T GONNA BE ROMNEY!!!
nor that kook Paul.
Baloney. I’ve written umpteen responses to you and the RINO pimps and apologists. Seriously, what part of “We’re fed up with liberal RINOs” do you fail to comprehend ? Hmm ?
You attack Cain in almost every post while mindlessly pimping Newtie, so you’ve scarcely any credibility on calling out others for condemning candidates.
Cincinatus, unless you're ready and willing to go pick up your own thrown rocks, you shouldn't accuse someone else of throwing stones.
Actually, all of the current candidates are "acceptable". But, being "acceptable" should not be the standard. We need to raise the bar way above that!
Thank you. Let us not forget CW’s merry group of Perrywinkles threw such gems as: “You want girls to get cancer !”, all because we opposed their idol. Their moral superiority sunk faster than La Raza Rick’s standing in the polls.
That’s makes pretty much every major poll now (and a few minor ones) showing Newt in first place!!!!!!!
I’m amazed by the number of folks who, on any given day will rightly trash and bash Obama, but on the next announce they’re sitting home if any GOP candidate besides their preference gets the nomination.
Are we forgetting what the ramifications are for 2012? JOB ONE should be defeating Obama! Let’s defeat that POS!
If they are the best we can come up with, we won't win...But then, maybe that's the intention...
If it's Nute or Snit, we still lose...And I'm not embarrassed to say so...
Look who is calling the kettle black?
Herman Cain has enthusiastically embraced the Koch brothers, who have funded his campaign. According to Cain, “Just so I can clarify this for the media, this may be a breaking news announcement for the media: I am the Koch brothers’ brother from another mother; yes. I’m their brother from another mother! And proud of it!” Cain has been accused of violating campaign finance laws by accepting money from a nonprofit affiliated with the Koch brothers and Mark Block. Nonprofits are not allowed to spend money on presidential campaigns.
2008 presidential election
In 2008, Cain initially praised Democratic candidate Barack Obama, saying of Obama that “His gift is the gift of oratory. That’s not just the ability to speak, but the ability to connect with people.” He also said that he would consider supporting Obama “under the right circumstances” but only if he made a serious attempt to “reach across the aisle”. Eventually, Cain instead endorsed Mitt Romney in the Republican primary.
Bank bailouts, and “too big to fail”
Cain supported the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bank bailouts as a way to revive the economy, viewing it as an investment opportunity for the taxpayers. In a 2008 editorial, Cain wrote, “Owning a part of the major banks in America is not a bad thing. We could make a profit while solving a problem.”
In May 2011, regarding his TARP support, Cain said, “I dont have any regrets . . . I studied the situation. I didnt have trouble with the idea; I had trouble with its implementation, picking winners and losers.”
In October 2011, Cain said he does not believe in the concept of “too big to fail” and has stated that he did not agree with the bailouts of “JP Morgan and the big banks on Wall Street”.
ie. do they call the same voters time after time so that the age demographics are the same or is it robo-dialing and their sampling could be askew - say 60% of all callers are over 65, retired and at home?
I thought it was interesting to see the demographics and was curious how the pollsters work in determining whose on top of the pack.
I’m not turning on Newt, I was never with him.
The demographics show Newt is ahead with the over 50 crowd.
Cain is ahead with the 18-49 year old crowd.
Interesting how the younger folks are more conservative than those of us who have been around a while - and smarter too!
Makes me believe there is hope for our Country and Herman Cain is the man who can inspire and make a difference!
Thank you. It's official. You're a liberal nut.
It is laughable that with multiple candidates hovering around 20% they keep claiming they have found the one. Headlines should be saying things like it is a long race with multiple candidates in the hunt. Someone needs to watch a 10K or similar race where it is not until 1/3 of the way into the race that things start to shake out and it is not until the last 1/3 that you have any degree of confidence of who is the front runners. We are about 1/3 into this election cycle and it is clear that Romney, Cain, Newt and Perry are well positioned. However two weeks ago Newt was lumped with Ron Paul and Bachmann...plenty of time for things to still change...Romney has been running a steady pace, Bachman sprinted to the lead at the beginning of a long race and is now trailing the pack, Cain got out of the gate slow and was way back of the pack and finally broke free in a sprint of excitement and then stumbled and slowed over rough pavement and is struggling to get into a steady rhythm now, Perry...well Perry just keeps sprinting, tripping and walking...to early to tell whether one of these trips will put him out of the race or if he will recover, settle down, break into a nice stride and make it through this middle third of the race. Newt is out clear and running on the outside, can he keep up this pace or will the past catch up to him and bring him to uneven ground that will cause him to break stride.
Gingrich is an opportunist, sometimes spouts off boneheaded comments, and, has been kind of a douche in his personal life at times.
However, to call a guy who balanced the budget 4 years in a row, successfully got welfare reform accomplished, has a 98%+ pro-life voting record, and got the GOP a majority for the first time in 40 years at the time a RINO is disingenuous at best.
At this point, I’d crawl over hot coals to vote for Newt.
RINO = not my candidate
Another meaningless word on FR.
I don't have a clue. I don't have any answers, just a lot of questions.
I am still for Herman.
Thank God it was women and not little boys. UH OH I probably gave the RATS something. . . . .
I’m for ABO and expect to be voting for the winner of the GOP primary.
Crawl away. Good analogy-Hot Coals. They burn just like NEWTIE BABY will.
Get a gallon of Neosporin You will need it. . . . .
Put me down for ABO too.
Yes NEWTIE LOVERS I will hold me nose once again if he gets it.
One of the main reasons I am so opposed to NEWTIE is the RATS are salivating for him to get it.
All that baggage will come out one suitcase at a time for months.
Newtie’s ‘My Three Wives’ alone will kill him in a general.
In a normal year, I’d agree...but at this point, I can think of about 15 trillion reasons why I don’t think it’s going to matter.
All the media has to do (and will do) is drive up the negatives of whichever flawed candidate they are pushing for us to put up higher than Zero’s. Newtie is toxic.
They all are flawed using that logic. Cain’s a womanizing sexual assailant, Romney belongs to a religious cult, Perry’s a stupid redneck, Bachmann is as crazy as Palin, and you know how nuts she is, Santorum is a gay-hating religious nut, Newt’s been married a lot and he’s old, fat and mean, etc. etc. etc.
I could go on.
Disclaimer: The comments above are not mine, they are the comments the MSM has in their vault for all of the above candidates.
