Russians are leaving the country in droves Some chafe at life under Vladimir Putin's rule
Lost Angeles Times ^ | 14 November 2011 | Sergei L. Loiko

Posted on 11/21/2011 11:11:09 AM PST by Vigilanteman

Reporting from Moscow — Over a bottle of vodka and a traditional Russian salad of pickles, sausage and potatoes tossed in mayonnaise, a group of friends raised their glasses and wished Igor Irtenyev and his family a happy journey to Israel.

Irtenyev, his wife and daughter insist they will just be away for six months, but the sadness in their eyes on this recent night said otherwise.

. . .

Experts believe that 100,000 to 150,000 people now leave the country annually and warn that the exodus reached dangerous dimensions in the last three years.

"People are going abroad for better college education, for better medical help, for better career opportunities, believing they will come back someday, but very few actually do," said Dmitry Oreshkin, a political analyst with the Institute of Geography. "The intellectual potential of the nation is being washed away, as the most mobile, intelligent and active are leaving."

This was reprinted in our local fishwrap yesterday. It is telling that people are still deserting a country which is giving births at well below replacement level.

Maybe Russia should take in some of the Somalai refugees which the UN is so anxious to foist upoun us.

Lots of them come to the Pittsburgh area as well. I've never seen a U.S. skyline with as many "onion skin" domes to mark the number of Orothodox churches which we have here.

Not complaining either. Most of them seen to be hard-working decent folks.

Israel has been getting its share.

Most are Jewish-according-to-Hitler and not actually Jewish, but they are learning Hebrew and most of the kids have Orthodox conversions in the IDF.

They’re hardcore and anit-socialist, to boot.

I know a few too here in Alaska. They come anyway they can, but it’s the economy that is what they are after. They all say it’s more expensive here but life is much better, they ain’t going back. Their kids are as American as ours too, bottom line. One family I know they just got their citizenship, both parents highly educated, real sharp. They were ethnic Germans that immigrated to Russia in 1600’s, Catherine the Great imported them as farmers. Russkies never accepted them as Russian. My friend even had to change his name to a more Russian sounding version to survive, even though his people had been there 350 years. Guy I know is very conservative, plays hockey in adult league, kids all on travel teams, ha. Thing is, we’ve sat and watched world cup games and he’s rootin for the Russkies and we’re all ready to pound on him, ha ha.

Russia has their own Mexico. It’s called Caucasus and Muslem states that ring it’s south borders.

Moscow has Muslem mass prayers in streets, ala Paristinians.

Putin is worth several “B”illion American dollars.
It,s a mess of Biblical proportions.

And for shock value, US supplies humidity sensors for Russian ballistic missile silos, to prevent rusting of missile hulls. So called premature Ejuculation of ICBM’s.

Feel better now?

She will likely be pleasantly surprised that you noticed she is Russian, and gave her a compliment...if she gives you attitude though, then she is one of those Russians who are arrogant jerks and you don’t want to know them anyway...

FWIW, my formerly adopted state of North Dakota has a large number of Germans from Russia, including their own fraternal organizations.

Even after two centuries in what is now the Ukraine, the Russians never really accepted them as equals and actively encouraged their exit and expulsion in the mid to late 1880's, just as south central North Dakota was opening to settlement.

They came in droves. Many of the counties in that area of the state are majority Germans from Russia. To this day, they are a very conservative lot. Pat Buchanan was actually getting votes in the double digit range here when he was struggling to break 1/2 of 1% in the rest of the country. Unlike your friend, they do not identify with Russians at all and, hence the name "Germans from Russia."

Some of their close cousins were still in the Ukraine when Hitler invaded. Initially, they were welcoming. Some even furnished military units to the German army. But Hitler was an idiot with his ideas of racial purity. After what was then nearly 300 years of living among Russians and Ukrainians, few of them met the nazi definition of racial purity, so they turned on the nazis with a vengeance.

Still, Stalin never forgave them. There were mass deportations to Siberia after he reestablished control and those who were able fled to the United States, many to North Dakota where they had waiting relatives.

My best friend since my elementary school days was of this stock. When we visited his relatives, their views on politics were so conservative that I would look like your typical San Franciscan at a TEA party rally by comparison.

Better: Ship all of Mexico to Russia and let the drug cartels and Russian Mafia go at each other in a protracted turf war. The U.S. then deports all its illegal aliens and Muslims to the now vacant Mexico.

Problems solved:

1. The Russian demographic problem of a shrinking population gets fixed.

2. America and Mexico's narco gang problems are now transferred to people who can effectively deal with them.

3. The illegal alien residents and Muslims in the U.S. can't say they don't have a place to go now that all of the former nation of Mexico is available specifically for them.

Very interesting question. China doesn't exactly have a growing population of their own anymore. But they have millions of "bare branches" or young single males who will never marry thanks to selective female infanticide and abortion.

The popular theory is that all they have to do is walk in and take it over at the opportune time.

The reality is a bit more complicated. The Siberian Russians are much more independent thinking, hearty and capitalist lot than their cousins to the west. Throw in the growing Mongol populations sitting right between China and Russia who share many of the same traits and I think you have the potential for an interesting mix: a highly independent thinking multicultural nation of Han, Mongol and Russians which can't easily be controlled by Beijing, Moscow or even the closest capital of Ulan Bator.

Russians have wonderful yogurt. They actually invented the stuff. I had some one day in Moscow and I’ve been craving it ever since. My screen name "mikhailovich" is my son's middle name. Both of our kids are from Russia. I've been there 3 times and spent weeks with different families, learning the culture, touring little-known historic towns, eating their home cooking. What a fascinating place, is Russia. Their people are basically identical to us in physical appearance and values. The only major difference is they were held captive by a brutal government and yes some of them grew to rely on it. Mostly the older folks still around.

One of the best memories I have of Russia was touring this amazing little town 100 miles north of Moscow where the grounds were covered in snow and the ravens were perched in evergreens. We approached a historic chapel with amazing architecture. The large wooden doors came open and we were allowed inside. A choir of beautiful voices rang out inside, singing Christian songs. And this was only about 3 years after the fall of the Soviet empire when churches and religion were banned. The choir was real, and up close. It was breathtaking.

Outside was a picture of Stalin's troops destroying this church. There was a brand new church bell in a wooden crate about to be resurrected.

Phenominal!!
