Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) says that Congress is not going to cut off funding for Obamacare or Planned Parenthood because House Republican leadership is afraid of the threat of a showdown with Senate Democrats and the president theyre afraid that Republicans would be blamed for a government shutdown.
King said the House GOP leadership, if asked, would say that they did pass a repeal of Obamacare and would blame the Senate, which didnt take up the measure.
But King also said House Republicans didnt use the leverage that we should have used.
We didnt bring up the maximum leverage because the decision was made by leadership to avoid the prospect of a showdown with the president or Harry Reid that could result in a potential shutdown of government, King told CNSNews.com in an interview.
And that rationale and it wasnt my rationale is what brings us to this point -- that were still funding Obamacare to the tune of $23.6 billion dollars in the first two years, were trying to find $1.2 trillion in cuts, theres $1.379 trillion in cuts that are there automatically if we just cut off the existing programs within Obamacare and resolve the problem with the Super-committee, he said.

Republicans = Afraid
More backstabbing by the boehner cabal. They all need to go next year. Throw the bums out.
Cowards, all of them.
So let me see, rather than doing the right thing, they put their career jobs ahead of their sworn duty.
They win back the House - just to repeal Commiecare - and now they can’t do it? Replacements are needed.
Rino’s are obsessed by fear.
Conservatives are common sense oriented, work hard, fight hard and are FEARLESS.
Rino’s need to hunted down, destroyed and driven into extinction.
Rep. King is really one of our best.
Danged few of those in the Congress, sadly.
I’m having even more doubts that we are a center-right nation any more... seems more like center left. Cuts are all well and fine with the American people as long as it’s somebody else’s rice bowl.
All you have to do is drag the idea of cutting Medicare through Free Republic, to get a whole bunch of "conservatives" to start wailing about how they paid for it and how the Government promised them....
And if that's what Freepers think, you can imagine how the sheeple would react.
video of so called conservative voting with the democrats...

Hang in there—next time we will have enough Tea Party congressmen to boot out the RINO leadership. If Bonner survives the election, we’ll let him chair the “Committee To Determine What Ply Toilet Paper To Use In The Capital Building Toilets.”
Republicans = love ObamaCare
Unless we vote in Bachmann or Paul - Obamacare is here to stay.
Oh don't worry by next year right before the election Boehner will do something good and suddenly some here will be cheerleading him. It happens all the time. One minute he is a villain and the next a hero. I do think he needs to get rid of that planned parenthood money out of Obamacare immediately though.
I knew that we were toast the first time I saw boehner’s classic establishment rino face.
Unless we vote in Bachmann or Paul - Obamacare is here to stay.
I agree. Although Paul is too radical. Add Santorum and Cain to the list and I fully agree. Those three will abolish Obamacare especially Bachmann! It is her passion to rid us of that mess. That is one reason I am surprised that she is not doing better. Who cares that she tells it like it is with the other candidates.
Yeah, being trapped in a system causes a lot of resentment in people - no surprise. Sadly, the RINOs may know or sense something that many of us refuse to admit to ourselves.
That is a very succinct summary of the problem.
Supposedly, keeping “our” statists in power trumps everything.
I’m so sick of the GOP leadership.
Agreed and well said!
No. I gave up on that nonsense a long time ago.
Yes. I believe many here did too, but every now and then we have a pep rally indicated that Boehner is the best.....I laugh because I believe that just because he does one thing does not make him the star.
GEeesh. It’s like the Republicans keeping putting their heads up to the guns they keep handing the Dems. Pathetic really.
Ya beat me to it.
Almost all of the "Tea Party Congressmen" cowered in fear before Boehner and supported some plan or other to raise the debt ceiling two and a half trillion dollars.
God I pray the Repubs get a spine and put a halt to this hideous, “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what’s in it” nightmare legislation. DEFUND! WE CAN’T AFFORD IT! Same with California’s high-speed rail... what are these psycho commies thinking?!?!
Because they don’t have the numbers—next time they will.
The Speaker is the Lord of the House, you have to lay low until you have enough support to dethrone him.
Do you think professional wrestlers really have these dramatic feuds and are really trying to hurt each other? No, they work together to put on a show for an audience for which the wrestler can make millions of dollars.
Likewise, Republicans and Democrats put on a televised show for which they are paid millions of dollars while behind the scenes they do the bidding of their paymasters, the Globalist Banksters. CONgress has a %12 approval rating because they no longer represent the American people on any issue.
He’s right, they would...but only because the republicans have wimped out on the argument...They need to fight, get in print, get in front of cameras, get the word out. I know it’s difficult, given the overhwhelming majority of the media gives the Dems the biggest microphones...but if they’re that afraid, then they shouldn’t be there.
I’m done ‘sucking it up’, fed up to the hilt.
Where the hell did the GOP get it into their head that the american peole would NOT LIKE a government shutdown?? or “blame” them for it?
I dont even remember the government being shut down when Clintoon was in office, and I certainly would not ‘blame’ the GOP if it did.
In fact I would be pretty HAPPY if they shut the whole place down until they figure out how to live within a budget.
The kind of people behind Boehner are the ones who vote in Republican primaries, particularly in NH.
Yup, and Iowa as well.
They need to be afraid of the torches and pitchforks because after 2012 they should be out of work if they don’t listen to the people that elected them then we need replacements until we get the spending under control and dethrone the progressives...
freegards
Lex
You left off the quotation marks: "leadership." You must not be from KY or OH where they believe in McC and Boehner.
We didnt bring up the maximum leverage because the decision was made by leadership”
Leadership? As in Boehner and Cantor?
That’s a good one.
They can only lead in one direction: in full retreat.
Lex, they are listening to the people who elected them. The people are too confused to govern. They want federal programs maintained at all costs.
Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats.
H. L. Mencken
yeah- that sounds vaguley familiar- but if I remember correctly no one except the media cared
Like Reagan said “Let’s shut it down and see if anyone notices”
Are they afraid of the blame or shrinking gummit?
Pray for America
I find John Boehner and the entire Republican leadership to be repugnant in their cowardice.
Wake up!!!!
They don't give a shit about us!!!
The reason I am going for Paul is that while yes he is radical - he would never get 100% of what he wanted. But if he got 50%, thats still way better than anything we can expect from the others.
They shouldn’t look at it like they’re being “blamed” they should look at it like it’s something they can take credit for. You know, like it’s a positive thing that they stopped this monstrosity.
