Rep King: House Won't Defund Obamacare Because Leaders ‘Afraid' GOP Will be Blamed for Shutdown
CNS News ^ | November 21, 2011 | Pete Winn

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) says that Congress is not going to cut off funding for Obamacare or Planned Parenthood because House Republican leadership is afraid of the threat of a showdown with Senate Democrats and the president – they’re afraid that Republicans would be blamed for a government shutdown.

King said the House GOP leadership, if asked, would say that they did pass a repeal of Obamacare – and would blame the Senate, which didn’t take up the measure.

But King also said House Republicans “didn’t use the leverage that we should have used.”

“We didn’t bring up the maximum leverage because the decision was made by leadership to avoid the prospect of a showdown with the president or Harry Reid that could result in a potential shutdown of government,” King told CNSNews.com in an interview.

“And that rationale – and it wasn’t my rationale – is what brings us to this point -- that we’re still funding Obamacare to the tune of $23.6 billion dollars in the first two years, we’re trying to find $1.2 trillion in cuts, there’s $1.379 trillion in cuts that are there automatically if we just cut off the existing programs within Obamacare and resolve the problem with the Super-committee,” he said.

Leadership? As in Boehner and Cantor?

That’s a good one.

They can only lead in one direction: in full retreat.

Lex, they are listening to the people who elected them. The people are too confused to govern. They want federal programs maintained at all costs.

I find John Boehner and the entire Republican leadership to be repugnant in their cowardice.

The reason I am going for Paul is that while yes he is radical - he would never get 100% of what he wanted. But if he got 50%, thats still way better than anything we can expect from the others.

They shouldn’t look at it like they’re being “blamed” they should look at it like it’s something they can take credit for. You know, like it’s a positive thing that they stopped this monstrosity.

What was the reason of the election of 2010 for ? oh, yeah , to repeal ObamaCare.. Sarcasm.

It was never going to be repealed with a 'rat senate and a 'rat president.

All you have to do is drag the idea of cutting Medicare through Free Republic, to get a whole bunch of "conservatives" to start wailing about how they paid for it and how the Government promised them....

And if that's what Freepers think, you can imagine how the sheeple would react.

Here's a bunch of things I'd cut before I'd cut military benefits and medicare:

Anchor babies, illegals, new immigrants, and their respective extended families,
(illegals alone cost $1/4 - $1/3 trillion per year; low skill immigrants cost ~$ 20,000 per household)

Fixing up ramshackle Mexican trucks that will put Americans out of work,

Sponsoring green technology overseas,

Paying college tuition for students from China ($ 8 billion per year),

Setting up the Moslem Brotherhood and al-Quaeda in Libya and Egypt,

Setting up CDC labs overseas,

Paying for post doctoral degrees for Indian scientists,

Billions in tax credits for illegals from the IRS,
Subsidizing Palestinian terrorists,
Funding the Taliban and other terrorist organizations in Afghanistan,

Hiring foreign workers for Oregon Forestry companies under TARP,

The entire Department of Education ($ 71,333,000,000),

The entire Department of Housing and Urban Development ($ 46,277,000,000),

International Assistance Programs ($ 25,502,000,000),

The entire Department of Energy ($ 34,215,000,000),

Blatant fraud in Medicare and Medicaid ($ 900 billion) which IBM offered to fix for free

Good. It’s way past time for conservatives to quit following false flags.

I remember it well.

ABC News started their nightly broadcast with a typical middle class family going to a National Park somewhere and being turned away because of the shutdown. They then interviewed the family who talked about how terrible it was for them to travel hundreds, thousands of miles only to have their dreams dashed and no glimsp of Old Faithful, the Giant Sequioas, or whatever they came for. The education of their children was sacrificed on the Republicans demand the rich people pay no taxes!

Then park rangers where interviewed who lost their jobs due to Newt and his evil Republicans and how awful it all was, some where even told they might be let go!!!! Who would now restrain Yogi from stealing Pic-A-nic baskets??? The horror! Why are Newt, Bob Dole and the Republicans so evil!!???

The other news casts went down the same way. It was like they were sharing their stories!

I hope everyone here understands they will do this all over again in a heartbeat. They YEARN to do so. They’re plotting right now. Hell, they’ve already released the meme for the Supercommittee failure. Same stories will now make the rounds.

WE have to have a better team (not likely) or a better way to counter the propaganda.

I don’t see this happening, unless we go after the REAL culprits here. Hint: Not the democrats or the Republicans but....

The Mainstream, driveby, state-run, Journ-O-lists.

And you can count on them to keep doing it. Finally almost mercifully our entire financial system will collapse and then maybe we can salvage something from the ashes.
